I am so happy to have found this video. I am 57 and want to start doing what I want to do in life. I have been wanting to start making jewelry. Thanks for the tutorial and inspiration. Blessings!!!
Same here! At 51 I am finally focusing on what I want to do and love!💕 Ring making is one of my passions now. I have learned to crochet and basket weave all since the age of 50. 😂
Finally got this done! I've been melting silver for a few weeks now and finally got a perfect fine silver blob I am using to make a ring. I cannot stop melting silver-lol...what a thrill.
i think ur a wonderful artist and the way u explain silversmithing is just so inspiring and so my vibe since im a bit esoteric woowoo too. love ur channel and ur jewelry is beautiful

You’re awesome and this is really so beautiful and creative. I see that you have a video of things with opals. How did you do that? Would love to know how. Can you make a video how to corporate the gems in this kind of artwork? Thanks so much! By the way, I love the humor too. Can’t wait 😊
Soo funny and talented and easy to listen to. have watched your photography vid, going to try that but you were more of a chuckle last year. More vids please?🤣😂
Next time I get the chance, I will definitely try one of these. They are absolutely gorgeous. (Even though the peach this close to the silver dust and the chemicals irritated me LOL)
This is such a helpful and easy to follow video, thank you!!! I was wondering if you would mind sharing what tumbler you are using at the end? It looks so nice and compact

Hiya, I buy recycled silver from cooksongold - any off cuts and dust from my other projects will get melted down to make jewellery too. I'm using : www.cooksongold.com/Jewellery-Tools/Jewellers-Soldering-Hand-Torch-----Butane-Blow-Torch-prcode-999-955
Hey! Love your videos 💘 I tried this technique but my silver wouldn’t melt. I added flux, then heated it up for like 15mins. The silver didn’t melt 😢 is there something you need to with the flame? Do you need a stronger torch? I think I have the same one you’ve linked! 😅
Perhaps you are trying to melt too much silver!. II'd try melting a smaller amount, but also ups could try buying a more powerful torch. Different gases burn at different temperatures too soo you could try a different fuel
hello :)) welcome to the wonderful world of jewellery making. those little bits are all silver scraps from random projects - I suggest buying some silver sheet a pair of cutters and cutting it up into random shapes for melting x
Hi :) is it silver 925 or 999? I tried this technique with 925 and the silver kind of crumbles and doesn't connect to each other. Do you have any recommendations for me to succeed? :)
925 - scrap silver. i would make sure the silver you're using is clean - pickle it before you try again and add lots of flux before you start heating it up
Thank you! The liquid in the barrel polisher is a mixture of “barrel bright”, water and metal shot. It spins and brings solid silver rings up to a nice shine 😌
Great question! Yes you can try, they need to be super clean any oils will heat up and can make the stones crack. Also research stones that can with stand high temperatures
Nice tutorial, great looking rings. But - don't just chuck the used pickle down the drain. It may have started as salt and vinegar but by the time it's used up it is full of copper which, while in low concentrations is a nutrient, in the higher concentrations in spent pickle it is toxic in the environment and needs to be disposed of safely.
Nice video. Just an FYI from an environmental standpoint - used or spent pickle should NEVER be poured down a drain. It contains heavy metals that will circulate back into water and are very harmful to our eco system. You can pour it in a bucket with a lid where it will evaporate and become a crystal-like formula then you can ask your local council where harmful chemicals can be disposed of properly.
For this technique I only use flux when I solder. But I would make sure the metal is very clean before you start fusing it together / soldering it - use jewellers pickle and maybe a brass brush to scrub any remaining fire scale off. I hope this helps ❤️

Would you happen to have any recommendations for the blow torch? Do you know if a general kitchen blow torch works fine?
You can try! Sometimes the kitchen ones have to be pressed on to make them work and holding the button down for 15mins or so can make your hand hurt
I never thought about silversmithing, but after this video I’m delusional enough to think I can do it! Thank you!

Yes its all 925 recycled silver ✨ some of it comes from old silver spoons and other from my supplier

is this 925 silver or just pure silver.does this shiny mettalic colour fades ?i am sorry i am new to this stuff
this is 925, generally fine silver is only used for enamelling :) and the shiny colour will tarnish over time if not worn / kept correctly

Just simple liquid flux from eBay
Roughly how long did it take to melt the silver? I don't know if i need a hotter torch or just more patience lol
About 15minutes! It is a long time with that size torch x
What kind of torch do you use ??
Brill, ime just setting out on silver work. Where do you get the squiggly bits of silver from? Just subbed.

Hi, of course! The white block is a heat resistant soldering block and the wire is a 4mm d shaped wire
Hey! thank you so much, this is so cool! I just need to ask you something: which size of silver wire do you use? :)
I’m using a d wire that is 5 mm wide and 3mm deep ☺️
