It’s fun to see ways to customize your kit. Good upgrades no doubt. I got a good chuckle when you mentioned that music from Frozen lol! The rooster sounded like he was trying to belt out that tune 😂 Thanks for sharing your ideas brother!
Well done! If you want to hang that thing together with your other little items on your 'junk drawer' resp. keyring or carabiner for carrying everything together in your pocket, you can easily wrap in the first layers of gorilla tape a simple paper clip. Maybe making it stronger by drawing a short piece of whatever fishing line etc. through the other end and folding it over and wrapping it with the next layer of tape. That gives you a nice eye to clip in anything else.
@@bushcraftkelso2013 Yes in the past I had a lot in pockets, but meanwhile I carry most of my little things mainly on rings and carabiners in a little haversack. Just a habit grown over the years. First of all it has to do with my usual dress (I'm living now most of my time in a hot climate, wearing almost exclusively just a lungi and a T), and secondly it saves me time I had to spend in the past every evening for removing all these little nicknacks from my pockets and placing them inside again the next morning ... And thirdly, I can grab everything easily and don't have to get 5 things out of a pocket when I need only one. You see, I'm a very lazy guy ... ;-) But the idea goes beyond carrying things anyhow in any pockets or bags. It is just that with these paperclips you can make literally everything hanging in a very easy way ... ;-)
Thank you for the idea, I have been wrapping Gorilla tape on my lighter for years. I just ordered Goon tape, I need to get some braided fishing line and wax some hemp cordage, then upgrade my lighter.
You could also put something on the very bottom one of gorilla tape before wrapping over it on the main body. Could be anything small enough such as fishing 🪝 hooks
First thing I do with mine is taking that stupid safety band off. I think that's universal no matter how you make up your kit. :) Bic hates us. Scripto is so much easier to fire up.
I have some glow in the dark small width duck brand duct tape that I would put on there as an extra feature for extra utility for finding in the dark. Could put both gorilla and glow tape.
One use for ranger bands with this type of kit is, because they are made of rubber, they burn well and can make good flame extenders to help get a fire going with less than ideal tinder. A wad of the Gorilla tape can be used for the same purpose.
When the butane has all gone bye-bye you don't leave the tape and cordage on the lighter when you throw the empty lighter away do you? I hear that some do. Seems like a shameful waste to me. There's all the pre measured, precut goodies there ready for a new home on a new lighter. Maybe Im just a cheapskate but waste not want not.
Nope it all comes off easily. I restock it a good bit a few times on the tape and hemp most times before they run out. It lasts a long time just starting fires and stuff

Great idea be doing that to mine now thanks for sharing you could put shot and a hook in there as well then you have a complete fishing line
Well done!

Ty, great option. I've got so used to my lighter being with my front right pocket I dont know if I could swap it for front left

Cood stuff. You could also wrap them on some thin cardboard liner. So it would be more like cover, not permanent attachment.

Hope it serves you well braw
I twist the ranger bands under the gas button to lock it. If I need a flame, I'll roll them down a bit. Prevents unintentional discharges. 🫡
Good one, that up against the bottom takes a bit to push down also
Yup... regular rubber bands work too, although not as durable.
@greyscout01 True ! Tho inner-tube looks more practical to me as it is fairly durable.
💪🏻💯🤛🏻 love adding to my lighters . I been liking the contoured refillable fenix lighters
nice, added function without too much bulk, i have to try it, thanks
little things go a long way
Agrees

I'm doing some of the same little things. Great minds think alike
Yes sir, hippies been using the hemp a long time lol
Been doing that for years. I just do gorilla tape, hemp and 18 bank line usually
Me too ❤

Holy molle! Can you do a wrist dump and show us what all youre packing on your arm. You dont need a whistle if you get those nose hairs going
I've got to get one of those ferro rods that replace the toothpick on the swiss army knives
I got a whistle on ther too!
Duct tape on a lighter is long before Dave!
I couldnt remember where I had seen it for the first time
@bushcraftkelso2013 I think in 2009 Nutnfancy wrapped a credit card and lesser known UA-camrs copied with lighters and water bottles.
other than keeping stuff on your lighter, what are ranger bands used for?

Emergency fire starter and it keeps the wax from rubbing off in your pocket
Way more economical to buy full size rolls of Gorilla tape and split it as you rip off roll and make width you need.
$3 a roll isn't bad
