    So, Should we buy the fabric sample everytime we upload our design? Or is it just once when we join spoonflower?

      You will need to purchase the sample for every design. They want you to make sure the design looks good before making it live (at least that's the theory). They do have a discounted pricing if you want to do multiple samples at once.

      Yes, do fill-a-yard - definitely the cheapest

    So how well have the actual sales on Spoonflower been for you? I here everything from people making a full time income on there to selling absolute nothing and not even making back the investment for sample swatches… just curious your experience.

      Great question! This is a video that I did as a supplement to the Print on Demand training videos. Spoonflower is very competitive. Like every platform, it's either going to take work to build up sales or you have to have a great design. Right now, most of my current designs only have people who have purchased swatches. I do zero marketing for Spoonflower because I have my own Print on Demand shop where I want to build products for those designs. I'm not on Spoonflower to make a full-time income. I'm on there to test designs and see what people like. When I find a design that starts to do well, I switch it to selling my own fabric in my own shop (and we are still fixing files to work with the fabric-specific print-on-demand company so we put designs on all-over-print clothing and décor right now). One of the biggest challenges we have faced with Spoonflower is people stealing designs. Once someone else mimics our designs, our sales slow down or stop. We have had to pull several because of that. So, Spoonflower sales are not great for us (but we do get them)...but we're a bad example since we're using it for a different purpose. If you are looking at making a full-time income with Spoonflower, you're going to have to put in a lot of work and yes, samples will get expensive.

      @@LittleBizResources thank you for the detailed response! A tip for cheaper samples is the fill-a-yard option which you can print 42 designs on 1 yard of fabric. Pick the cheapest option (I believe that’s petal cotton) and it’s something like 50 cents per sample instead of $5. And right now natural fabrics (including that cotton) are on sale so even less. You just have to save the 42 designs in a collection, even if it’s just temporary.

      @@patternandcraft3908 that's what we do. Great tip!

    Do we have to design the fabric ourselves?

    • @LittleBizResources
      @LittleBizResources  6 місяців тому

      Not necessarily. You need to own the rights to it on Spoonflower. So, you could commission the design, like from someone on Fiverr (just be careful there because a lot of times designers use the same parts or sell designs from other sources they aren't allowed to sell), or you could even use AI like Midjourney (I have that in my list to do a video on). That's for now. They could change their requirements later.

    how to add a home address for verification.

    • @LittleBizResources
      @LittleBizResources  Рік тому +2

      Good question! Spoonflower has a section specifically for verification. When you are logged in, scroll over the person at the top right of the screen and select "Account Settings", then you will have several options. Under "My Account", you will see several tabs. Select "Verify Account". For me, I have 4 sections for verification and the 3rd option is Address Verified. There will be instructions on how to verify the address, or you will need to contact support if there is an issue. I hope that helps!
