  • Florida Keys sheriff's deputies arrested an allegedly drunk man they say was attempting to outrun officers at speeds of over 100mph. The Law&Crime Network obtained bodycam footage from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office showing the incident unfolding On July 10. The pursuit began when an officer observed 26-year-old Donovan William Rojas speeding on a Florida highway. When the officer activated his emergency lights, Rojas allegedly sped up and reached a speed of almost 110mph. During the 4-mile pursuit, officers observed the vehicle swerving and nearly hitting other vehicles on the road. When Rojas stopped his vehicle, he identified himself as a Miami-Dade police officer when confronted by the deputies. Deputies say Rojas appeared to be intoxicated and had trouble standing up straight. Rojas was arrested and is facing charges of fleeing and eluding, along with suspected DUI. Following the arrest, Rojas was relieved of his duties at the Miami-Dade Police Department without pay.

If you take notice of what Police officers do and are told when being arrested, then you'll know what you need to do if you are. Like, not saying a word, and not taking any tests. Just listen to what the arresting officer kept informing the arrested officer over and over. "Don't say another word". Even after asking him who his commanding officer was, the arresting officer once again informed him not to say another word. And it was because he didn't want him to incriminate himself, which officers do not do with regular citizens because they want regular citizens to talk and incriminate themselves. So zip your lips and let an attorney speak for you.

I didn't see any change that benefited the drunk cop a single bit. I'd even say the arresting cop got even more angry after finding out it was a cop. Sure you could say he was upset because he wishes he could protect the dude's career but can't because of the camera, or you could say he is upset that a cop is out there acting like that when they should be professional and be staying out of trouble. When the drunk cop goes "I work for Miami-Dade" and the arresting cop says "You use to work for Miami-Dade" that made it sound like the cop was very unhappy with the guy's actions and knew his career was over. I see nothing wrong with his behavior and I did not even see any professional courtesy besides telling him to not talk until he read him his rights. But there is no evidence that the arresting cop does not say the same thing to other criminals before they are read their rights.

You'll see this on MANY bodycams of officers advising suspects not to speak until they have read their rights. Furthermore, there is nothing to incriminate here. The officers filed the correct charges and audible said he was under the influence. There is no need to have him be quiet because they have everything on camera. They actually respected his right to remain silent....where they would normally give miranda and then continue to ask and ask and ask and ask and ask and ask and ask and ask.
He hated to see all of the weapons...even offered to get the weapons to his unit to keep "everything on the down low" 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
He hated to see that he was using flashing colors in the dash....cuz he would be impersonating an officer on official duty....which he wasn't.
If this were a citizen, they'd have been laughing, high-fiving, enjoying every second
Once they realized he is one of theirs, they got all sullen and stressed and depressed.
For anyone who thinks that cops in this video aren't behaving differently depending on who they're dealing with....clearly is not paying attention....this video demonstrated clearly how they treat one of their own as opposed to some random citizen.
