Loved the video great tips.
I Recently figure out using warm water for low porosity ..This makes my hair so soft and moisturize.
Thank you!! And same, it definitely makes a difference for my hair too!
You give amazing advice and tips.
I was doing the same mistake rinsing with cold water now I understand why it was hard to maintain the moisture. Starring tomorrow I won’t do that anymore. I appreciate your short and simple videos! Thank you 🙏🏼

IM SO GLAD I FOUND THIS VIDEO! I’ve been trying to decide upon what porosity my hair was but I wasn’t ALL that committed to figuring it out and idk what it is that like opened my eyes and today I discovered I have low porosity hair! I’ve been doing EVERYTHING SO WRONG! Cold water rinses, heavy oils, not deep conditioning w/ heat🤮
Ahhh I’m so glad you found this video helpful!!
That is very true about the cold water rinse. 👍🏽
Super helpful and will share with my daughter but i think she is type 4 😛definitely love to support fellow habesha sisters 😉💜 r u in maryland?
So my hair is low porosity definitely have that part nailed down with medium to thick density and a course texture I'd say close to native American texture 3a/3b/2b I currently use the ors olive oil cleansing shampoo deep condition 2x a week and the frizz is so unreal your hair is my goal frizz free defined
Hey Lydia,
I have a few questions.
I am a Afro Latina female with 3c4a low porosity hair. I use to be a big natural hair enthusiast and I still am but lately I just don’t understand my hair. I think the colder months brings out the worst in my hair but then again my hair is natural very dry and needs CONSTANT detangling and moisture to keep it alive but I don’t always have the time. This leads me to my questions.
1 - how do you wear your hair at night to keep it from moving around and getting too tangled among itself?
2 - what is the best moisturizer you’d recommend for my hair type?
3 - what is the best method for my hair type (e.g. LOC and LCO)
4- should I be using coconut oil in my hair if I have low porosity? I really do feel like my hair loves coconut oil but maybe if I try cutting it out of my routine for a while I can see if there’s a difference
5 - I struggle with frizzy hair like super frizzy undefined hair. What is the best product and tip you could give for defined curls?
---
I’m so sorry if this is too many questions in one comment but I really want help with my hair and I trust you more than anyone else tbh and I’m desperate to help my hair :(
Hey! I’d first suggest you see a curly hair specialist/stylist because it’ll be best for them to see your hair and the overall health/texture/density of your hair
But over I’d say the following based on my own experience
1- I tie it up in a satin scarf, I have a video from December where I show it
2- moisturized can be tricky simply cause products don’t always behave the same for everyone but I like the Eden bodyworks almond marshmallow hydration serum or anything that is silicone free
3- it really depends on your hair and the products you use! I usually just use a curly gelly and call it a day or sometimes pair a curling jelly with a lighter weight leave in
4 - I’m not a big fan of coconut oil simply cause of the smell so I don’t use coconut oil on its on it my hair.
5 - biggest time would be to apply your products to SOAKING WET hair and working in small sections at a time.
Hope that helps!
Can you please show us that video on the DYI that you’re talking about. Thank you 😊
I thank you so much for your information. I'm learning alot about my hair that I wish I could have learned before I went bald. I truly hope my hair will start to grow back. Again thanks sooooo very much. Have a bless day young lady. Oh I wanted to ask you how do you feel about rice water to grow hair? I have the Jamaican black seed castor oil
I haven’t tried rice water! But thank you for sharing and for watching!
🧡 okkkk so I thought I was crazy because my hair actually likes warm water wayyyy better than cold water 🙂 the Shea moisture low porosity line is like the only line that doesn’t dry my hair out from Shea moisture and I love it sooo much I wish they had a bigger bottle for the conditioner tho 🧡🧡🧡🧡
Thank you. I’ve been washing my hair in cold water ever since a beautician told me it would be best. I’ve recently wanted to go back to warm but was afraid. You just confirmed it. I’ve had a lot of hair breakage and loss. I am using Dr Shapiro as a last resort to help it grow. Do you know if this product is good for low porosity hair? I can’t find the answer. Thanks for the tips.
I have low porosity and I use most of these products!
That’s awesome! 🤗
Hi, i don't rrally want to nessecarily want to make my hair longer but thicker so these oils like grapeseed, jojoba and almond oil will help me thicken my hair?
Also try Shea Moisture tea tree and mint low porosity protein free shampoo. just bought it, waiting to use it
I’ve used some of their other products from that line but not the shampoo so I’ll be sure to try it!
Hey, great video! What are your thoughts on the tgin daily hair cream for low porosity hair? I love the mask...
Thank you!! I haven’t used that cream before sorry!
Thanks for these tips in this and the other video. I still think I'm either a medium porosity or just have different types all over my head. As I've done the float test a time or two and even though I've waited past the 2 to 4 mins. My strand of hair was still chilling on the surface of the water. Just barely dipping underneath it. And I don't have any real difficulty retaining moisture when I use heavier oils or creams like you mentioned. And yet as I also mentioned before using products with Olive Oil and protein at once, can totally dry my hair out. So really confused and not sure on any of that.
And this is a slightly dumb question. But as I've never used it before(with so many other products I have now and am still learning about), but could you possibly do a video on explaining the proper way in which to use shea butter. I mean, I've found some where I work, but it doesn't really say much in regards as to what to do with it. And it's not really a styling butter. Just raw, unscented shea butter that can be used for skin or hair. But I'm not sure if I should mix in a styling gel with it to use it on twists or how to work with it, if it has no styling component to it.
Oh I don’t typically use Shea butter so I’m not the most knowledgeable/helpful when it comes to giving information about it
No probs. I actually looked up some ways to use it after asking you. Sounds like it is really good for helping with frizz as well as adding moisture too. Just I may have to mix it a little bit with some curl defining cream, to give my curls a bit more pop. But otherwise than that, I think I got it.
Can you review the Taliah wajid green apple line?
Thank you beautiful I've learned so much 🤗💖
Thank you for watching!
thank you very much for the info!
Thank you for watching!
Another thing, The Camille Rose Curl Maker is NOT their leave in conditioner it's their curl gel, the Camille Rose Natural Love Milk is their Leave in Conditioner
hi loved the video. so helpful thanks. question - after the clarifying shampoo do you put oil then the conditioner? or shampoo conditioner oil etc. thanks.
I usually just massage my scalp with oil before I wash it and then I use an oil spray when I’m done doing my hair
thanks I will try this. honestly the effort that goes into having curly hair! when I straighten it I don't need to use anything! thanks again for replying much appreciated 👍🏽
What products should I use for winter time ? Since I can’t use honey during winter time and I have low porosity too!
I tend to use products with marshmallow root or flaxseed!!
I need to know your hair growth oil!! 😊
Which do you prefer, the SM JBCO shampoo or the Protein-free one? (Assuming you’ve tried both)
Depends on what my hair needs at the time. If I’ve had a protein overload than I go for the protein free one (plus it has a minty feeling) but they’re both great. It’s just a matter of if you need or want some protein or no protein.
What oil can I use instead of castor oil? I was using it for hair thickness but I don’t think almond, grape seed, or jojoba helps with that.
Hi!! Castor oil is great to use I just prefer to use it when I’m massaging my scalp vs using it all over my hair. I prefer argan oil or grapseed oil for all over my hair
Thanks for the info!
You’re welcome!!
Hello thank you for you great video thats really helpful.what about cantu do you recommend using it dor low prosity hair
I heard Cantu isn’t good for low porosity hair because it dries out your hair. I heard Shea Moisture is good for our hair. The best lines to use are the Jamaican Black castor oil and Honey Manuka.
*when you have med-porosity hair *
True! Typically with normal/medium porosity Hair almost anything can penetrate your hair so any of the products from this video (or even tomorrow’s!) should work really well with your hair 🤗
Thank you so much for watching!
Lydia Tefera Yay thank you ❤️☺️
Do you have an video me using the curl maker ?
Yeah I do :)
Great Info! New Subbie here! Thank you for Sharing!😄
Thank you!! I’m so glad you enjoyed! 🤗
How does your hair look like without gel
I use a curling jelly so it’s very similar to a gel
Its Eden Body Works NOT Eden Garden works , just for those having a hard time finding Eden Garden Works
Gorgeous I'm from Maryland too
That’s awesome! 🤗
Lydia Tefera 🤗
Hey, is Coconut Oil good for low porosity hair ?
Dydi Didy no
Thrifty Shades of Greene oh okay, thank you
Works for me and I’m low porosity. Just because your low porosity doesn’t always mean coconut oil is a no.
Where do u buy the oils? Your hair is gorgeous by the way!
You can buy the oils at target, Amazon, or organic supermarkets. Marshall’s and tj maxx have some too! And thank you so much ❤️❤️
Whats your hair type
