DRG Dev here! Really enjoyed the video and the kind words about DRG. It's nice to get a fresh perspective on the game and yours was especially insightful. Keep it up!
Honestly, I think the new player experience of DRG is the one area where it falls short. 2 friends and I got into the game. They bounced off it after 5 hours. I thought the game was...okay. I decided to stick with it for another 10 hours and the shift in my perspective was like night and day. Now I have like 500-600 hours with no sign of stopping anytime soon. If I can offer my thoughts for a moment, the biggest issue with the game is that the first 5-10 hours don't showcase all the massive build variety, or chaotic adrenaline you see at "endgame". All the weapons in the game have a TON of depth and nuance to them, but until you get those unlocks they all feel really basic and straightforward. Likewise, everything below haz 4 feels pretty boring due to pacing, but you can't break INTO haz 4 until you have your weapon unlocks because of the difficulty spike. If there was one change I would suggest for DRG, it would be to massively accelerate the initial unlocking speed of weapons and upgrades. The "tutorial" phase for weapon progression does a disservice to how many options you get as a player. I'd bet money almost everyone who bounced off DRG during those first 10 hours did so because of the slow pace of Haz 2-3 and lack of weapon options to show off the depth of the game. Edit: I'm not talking about Overclocks at all by the way. Just that initial unlock rate of all of your primary and secondary weapons, and their upgrades. Things like the EPC are defined by their tier 5 unlocks like TCF and burning nightmare. Until you hit tier 5 you're unaware of just HOW much fun that weapon is. So you might try it, get bored, and not stick with it. That happened a lot for me during my initial playtime. Most of my favorite weapons I *hated* the first time I tried them.
What a blast it was to play 5 5's back to back. A random (scout) and I (eneginer) beat the first mission by ourselves, next mission we kept getting swarmed and picking eachother back up, all was lost till a gunner joined as I went down for what I thought was the last time. We picked up a driller in our 3rd mission and it was smooth sailing then on out, after them and I beat our fifth mission we went on to do my 1st elite dive, a true fight, a battle against the clock for when I had to hop and go to work. I clocked in on the dot that day.
“Leave No Dwarf Behind” is 100% the real mindset of this community. I’ve FAILED missions at the drop pod because we all went back to try and save that one dwarf who got downed in a hopeless situation. Love this game and its community. FOR ROCK AND STONE
now I feel bad that I always stay on the drop pod when that happens lol. haz 5 be like: look, I'm outa shields, the scout got kidnapped, and there are 3 oppressors dancing on your body. Unless the engineer can build us a way for you to live, you going to the infirmary.
@@ShadowAraun Sometimes no Dwarf behind means returning to base so you can return to tell their story... And as a scout/driller player, I am duty bound to complete the mission so my teammates get their challenges complete... Regardless of how many dwarves leave with me. I make an active attempt to leave no Dwarf, but like you said, sometimes you've been out of nitra for 10 minutes, have no ammo in ANYTHING, and it's physically impossible to clear the bugs on someone's body. Slap 10 HP + shield disruptor and I will be making a swift bee-line to the drop pod 😢 ROCK AND STONE!! 🪨 ⛏️
Bought this game last week and this morning I checked the terminal and found out about the battle pass. It slightly annoyed me at first until i realized it was literally free. Like, damn. A game I paid to play actually felt like a game I paid to play!
Also when the season is over for the battlepass all the unlocks in it that you do not have get added to the standard loot pool so nothing is truly restricted.
@@asteamedpanda Yeah that's my favorite part. A lot of games have a free battlepass but they pretty much keep retention by making you feel left out because the items are exclusive to the battlepass and gone after. DRG never makes you feel left out.
In a world of always online-digitally restricted-microtransacted and corporate gaming, DRG is a shining beacon of old school cooperative gaming that never gets old. I hope to be playing this game still in 10-20 years the same way I still play Left4Dead or other fantastic peer to peer games. Rock and stone forever brothers and sisters!
10:48 iron will is genuinely the most game changing perk, you get a revive off on your friend before you go down again, you can revive yourself by healing with red sugar or a supply pod (you can’t take damage during that time so it’s also pretty much a way to safely resupply). you can even use it to make it the last bit of distance to the drop pod if you can’t quite make it there before dying
Everyone is equal in DRG. There is no predatory microtransaction system. No stupid mechanic meant to keep you playing longer even when you don't want to. It's like this game came out of an alternate universe where integrity is more important than profit. Or, where laws exists that prevent malicious monetary practices. Thank you Ghost Ship for giving us this beautiful masterpiece that respects and values our time and money. Rock and Stone!
I have over 400 hours in this game but I will say the only thing I do not like is the RNG of obtaining Over clocks. To a point it is slightly predatory but everything else in the game is absolutely fantastic
@@loops7624 yes but when I posted my comment I was specifically referring to battle passes. It is normal for a game to give you things to work towards, as long as it's not behind a paywall with a limited time until your money is wasted unless you complete it.
I think one line makes this game so great. "Leave no dwarf behind." A simple phrase that is paramount to how the community acts, getting in, doing the job, and making sure everyone gets home.
Which is not even necessary, because you dont lose anything if you are not alive at the end of the mission. But we still make sure we bring everyone home, even the Doretta head!
@@stevendeamon Technically you get paid a bit more for each surviving dwarf. You get literally nothing but a voiceline and seeing her head in the end screen for saving Doretta though, and you gotta do it.
I had a teammate fall into a very deep spot in the map (when the ammo supply drop goes super far down). We slowly dug through the environment that is atrocious to mine through, just to save them! We could have left them, started a new mission and finished by the time we got him to the ship... but he never gave up, and I could never give up on him!
Also to say about battleplass: There is no FOMO for the items you couldn't get after the season ends, they are added to the loot pool of Matrix cores, Lost equipment and Battery chest
What really sold me on this game was the ability to Save Doretta. After those "protect the drill" stages, Dorettas head gets ripped off in the explosion and you can pick it uo, and carry it all the way across the stage and load it into the droppod. Theres unique dialogue for it and everything. The fact that enough love was put into the game to acknowledge my irrational attachment to a drill named Doretta is just insane. It really shows just how much the devs cared for and loved this game themselves.
I... i left her on my first mission beacouse i... i didnt see her fly behind a rock and the bugs were coming so i panicked and ... i left ... i felt so horribly bad the second time i played the mission and seen her land nearby and realised i could pick her head up... ive had litteral flashbacks about the first mission... from that point forward i always brought her back to the drop pod. Always.
Lets be real, when you have a full button dedicated to a salute/cheer complete with a catchy phase, you know the game is geared up to foster a very positive fanbase.
After playing solo for a while, the very first thing I did after starting a game with my friend was look in the keybindings to figure out what button that was :)
I honestly love how drg can be two games at once. Solo it's an immersive, tense, and serene experience, but with friends its a hectic, loud, and hilarious one. Me and a friend usually play it really late, and after we're done with the missions we're doing we just go to the top of the rig and talk about whatever, you know those tired heart to hearts, and it just feels special. Rock and stone friends.
Ahhh…..so me and my friend aren’t alone on rig top conversations. We love getting super drunk then taking a blackout stout up and sitting in the rocket booster for the pod like it’s a jacuzzi. We hang there talking telling eachother bye and stuff then slams the stout and laugh hoping one of our dwarves rips that huge fart. ROCK AND STONE
Only kicked out sum twice in 3y of playing and one of the two a guy wrote in chat : he looked like a dirty elf. And everyone went on to ROCK AND STONE . BEST GAME EVER
Honestly the ideal experience IS playing with randoms, because the communication between dwarves is so good you hardly have to communicate, and you can really get into it and be immersed without thinking about it to much
1300 hour greybeard here. Deep Rock is by far my most played game, and what I love most is the casual nature of it. It is really just a pick up and play kind of game. I have bought all the DLCs myself, and the whole game for several friends of mine just to support the devs and pay them back for the hours of contented enjoyment they have given me. I used the voice chat function quite a lot in public lobbies, and as a result when my IRL friends started to fall off the game one by one, I made the decision to start adding people I met in-game into a Discord, so I would always have someone to play with. Solo play in this game is awesome, in its own way. Ethereal, haunting and really draws you into wanting to know more about the planet itself. Playing solo 100 times to get the Steam achievement actually led me to look deeper into the, admittedly, intentionally vague and limited lore of the game. I still do sometimes play on my own just to test my mettle against the bugs without my friends to cover my bases. But what I enjoyed most, beyond the FREE battlepass system, the seasonal lore dumps we get, the holiday events that change up the hub and the devs that really become a part of their community and listen as best they can, is the fact that everyone is, as you pointed out, just so fucking NICE. I've met DOZENS of new people, whether it was for a single game or whether I added them to a discord, and almsot without exception they have been delightful. There's no real reason to be toxic in DRG, so people either choose not to, or the nature of the game drives those kinds of people away. There is enough variety in classes, procedural generation, weapons, mission types, random boss encounters and the new seasonal content to keep a person entertained endlessly, and I really hope you continue to enjoy the game as much as I have. Rock and Stone, brother, and welcome to the team.
The only slightly toxic stuff I've seen is the controversy around emergency bunkers. Even so, it never turns into a shouting match. People just agree to do it, or not to.
the last part really sold me on the game too, they somehow sync the in-game camaraderie with online interactions. it hypnotizes people into being good sports with its entire brotherhood-like "leave no one behind" atmosphere. as if the game itself is the anti-toxicity system.
It's true. I just had what I would consider a bad game. And the worst part of it was having a guy steal my ammo. He ended up dying in a super inconvenient spot right by escape pod, and what do I do? I jump in there and rescue that sonofabitch, for two reasons: One, he's got Dotty's head. And two, leave no dwarf behind. For KARL!
Had one guy start shooting me because I started the extraction without doing the secondary (in MY lobby) because fuck ebonuts. My friends and I all turned on him, left him behind, and then I booted him from the lobby.
We shout rock and stone asva warcry, as a way the players bond with each other, and also as you said, it's a saying that the dwarves use as a pseudo memento mori, that they won't leave a dwarf behind on hoxxes, as for the iconic line FOR KARL! Karl is rumored to have been one of the first dwarves lost on hoxxes, and his name is used as a rallying cry by the dwarves of deep rock galactic
My friend when we first got it played it like 40 hours then just stopped. It took another friend getting it to get him playing again and now were all addicted
got about 838 hours clocked right now. i was playing even before the first season, so seeing this game evolve has been really great. i do have a bit of burnout, but unlike most 'live-service' games that threaten you with FOMO bullshit, i never feel like i 'have' to play this game. i can play it whenever i want and i know that i will enjoy it as much as i did the last time. except rivals, they suck and they were just a bad addition to the game.
I'm so happy to see this kind of perspective for DRG. I'm addicted to DRG and i've seen every big video about it. Everyone always speaks about all the good things in the game but no one described the solo experience quite as good as you did. I played the first tutorial missions alone and i will always remember when *that* moment of fathomless tomb (ost) hits for the first time. Really makes you see the beauty of the game and how insignificantyou are. And then there is the first time you enter the memorial hall. I'm glad I'm not the only one to be this amazed every time I enter. Rock and Stone !
I got the same experience as you are But then i stopped for awhile because exam and also not motivated Long story btw I hopped back in after season 4 kicks in. Because of the new update i might need to dig it further and finish it all until im satisfied (nope it doesn't yet lol) I started to look around the space rig makes me wonder this. Isnt a social Area huh? Check my level and got called a veteran makes me think what happen if i go further? I then explore the memorial hall (finally with headphones) i started to feel the music and then i check the statue "i could level up my dwarfs to level 25 to make gold statue" i think it will look amazing with 4 gold dwarf so i set goal. For the first time. Exploring new weapons and watching someone else using it making me want to try out myself! The mission also has mutation! Since i been playing sc2 for long time this game has best mutation design out of RTS which its amazing you could fit some ideas into a game! Different kind of region makes also has a different mutation warning even though it doesnt have a matual mutation set because were set up by a company and an alive planet Playing with random team is so goofy and funny even tho in a serious situation still pinging about *Mushroom* or *were rich* but sometimes they don't (depends on the server) The abyss bar make me want to own all the licence because seeing someone hand me a drink that i never seen before and has special effects! (You wont see this in any game at all!) makes me think i could license it and drink it all myself! (My favourite beer is smartsout because i like facts) Free battlepass? Feels like this game made by santa claus No way it's free but they gave it for the customer I couldn't buy the extra content because there are more free skins out there waiting to try out just like the battlepass! Then the window. Outside. In space it looks so beautiful thought low polygon will look bad but it doesn't. It has more details if you get closer with Black hole beer or using devs to noclip out of the space station I never thought im actually below the space station and indeed. Its huge. This game able to fit a life into it This reminds of Half Life 1 where you can interact some parts of the map This game gives me a feeling of nostalgia. Has a share feeling of nostalgia from older games. Some games try to make like this but kinda fails to impress it like this game. Truly, recommend to players who seek solo games and has a mood to play together with strangers Just remember, one dwarf legend Karl Deep dive and solo dive through himself no matter the cost and no matter how lethal it is. It all takes a clear mind to courage your gut to fight. This all my perspective. Rock And Stone To The Heart!
I find this game way more fun when playing with randoms online. I actually have *less* fun when playing with people I know. It's more fun to me to have a collective sense of unwavering collaboration with people from across the world, communicating with only the occasional "R" message in chat or using the laser pointer or shouting Rock and Stone. Its such a human experience, and it's great.
@@RaffsterTabs Ive only Been playing with randoms. Sometimes theryre crap And other times after a few mission it Hurts me to say goodbye knowing with 99% certanti ill never meet them again. Rock and Stone my brothers!!!
Solid video. Just picked it up yesterday and I’m having a blast. Gonna give the solo play some more time before joining forces with randos, but with one other friend so far it’s been super fun. Keep up the awesome content!
The best thing is that the game is designed entirely around drop-in coop play. You don't need friends, you can join complete strangers mid-mission or have them join you. There are no individual bonuses etc to have "stolen" by others, so virtually nothing worth getting toxic over. It's about as perfect as a coop game has come.
I really love how they took a "drop-in" literally, by making a late-join player have their unique single-personal drop pod for a purpose of "getting a dwarf into an on-going mission FAST". More immersive than just "dwarf spawns in your world".
I'm from Ukraine, and I regularly get russians with a changed nickname (as if they can hide from me that way) who rush forward, mine all the nitra, and then return to the droppod hole, climb to the edge of it and call all the supply pods for all nitra that's available. Then they write some nasty stuff in the chat and leave the lobby. They think that this way they can give me shit and prove their power, but I perceive these attempts to ruin the game for me as sabotage by pointy-eared leaf-lovers. If I need to complete some missions, I do them either solo or in a private session with friends, and I go into multiplayer just to feel immersive experience or for additional challenges. And the insidious sabotage of the elves will not stop me from destroying the damn Caretaker and shoving its data rack trough their asses up to their ears. And even if I don't succeed, I still have nothing to lose, because I've already completed all other tasks. I just get another reminder of how "sensitive and kind" my dear neighbors to the east are🙂

@@sleepCircle I was attempting a solo deep dive in Azure Weald for the first time and there was a giant hole that went down further than what my grappling hook could ever reach from where I was. I almost used up all my revives from falling down
What got me to play it after the first mission was the unspoken brotherhood of it all. Literally nobody says a word in game but would do the craziest plays you've ever seen in your life to revive a fresh install. It's lovely.
Your content and perspective are a breath of fresh air, an absolute treat. It's so interesting to see someone with such a long history in the competitive arena learning to enjoy games of various genres and taking us through that journey with such honest commentary (Risk of Rain 2 and Deep Rock also hold a special place in my library). Hope you find plenty of other great experiences in gaming and I look forward to hearing about them!
The feeling of being welcome when people press a button as a reaction to you joining in middle of a game is amazing. It's just you being acknowledged that does it, I think. It's small things that make for a great community.
Deep Rock Galactic is the only game I own that I do not have a single bad thing to say about. The price is extremely reasonable, the monetization scheme is honest and consumer friendly. The devs are active in the community and regularly listen to popular feedback. The community is welcoming, kind, and supportive. And to top it all off: the gameplay… good god the gameplay. Just an incredible experience.
my only complaint is no female dwarves, but the devs have admitted that they have programmed themselves into a corner with all the cosmetics and it would me a fuckton of work to make everysingle one be compatible with a new bodytype. At least they admitted it was their fault they didnt do it sooner and not be jerks about it. Again, good devs!
@@ZectifinFemale dwarves aren't even necessary and it also wouldn't make sense, just look at who the miners are irl. It's like playing a game about Spartans or a game set in medieval Europe and wanting to play as a woman warrior, it simply wouldn't make sense so i don't think the devs owe anything to nobody.
@@lochlannach7 This isn't real life tho, and in common fantasy dwarves are ALL miners, men and women alike. The reason they can't add them is because of development costs and that's it. No reason to over complicate things with vaguely misogynistic stereotypes that aren't actually relevant to the situation.
For me, one of the things that really sold me was that the battle pass items that you don't get a chance to unlock go into the world loot pool for cargo crates. They don't just disappear in a puff of fomo. I don't really get a chance to game a whole lot these days, so it was nice to find a game that understands and respects the time of people like myself. Although the banging soundtrack and tight gameplay certainly don't hurt.
The only other game I've seen that does a battle pass in a fair manner is Super Animal Royale. You can level up 2 battle passes at the same time - the current one plus any other battle pass you have bought, and you can switch out the secondary one at any time.
Oh, Iron Will is the best perk by far. 1. You pick it. 2. You NEVER use it. 3. If your entire team gets wiped, you activate it and revive all your friends to save the entire mission. It's absolutely vital to have at least one, especially for the Scout (who ends up being the medic in haz5 missions anyways)
True, not to mention that it can act as an extra self revive for solo players who need it, since gaining health after IW'ing lets you stay alive after the 6/8/10/12 second period of time wears out, depending on your perk level I (chronically) play Medic/Support Scout, running the Field Medic perk along with IW. I only ever have ONE problem with my IW and its mainly an avoidable one: It happens way too often that our entire team gets wiped, and then we all IW at once, because for some reason they decided to take IW instead of using that slot for Shield Link, Beast Master, Dash, or any other more helpful perk for their class, since the other three are all less mobile than Scout. Simple communication would fix this, but the sheer panic of losing the mission so deep into it usually doesn't lead to the most level-headed dwarves. On Gunner it's fine because his shield is great for that, but for the other two? Better to spend that on building a supportive layout for your playstyle, in my opinion. And at the end of the day, if I fail to save you, drinks are on me when we get back.
@@DataPakEM dont forget vampire, after knocked and surrounded by grunt (Medium Enemy Size), you can use iron will then LMB + RMB to use pickaxe skill, so you will get +5 health/kill. then use shield as gunner, use hook to run as scout, pray if use driller and engineer🤣
Until your in the final stage of an elite deep dive and all four of you activate it at the exact same time meaning no one is actually there to revive anyone to get them health and we just have to wait until it runs out and we die anyway. There was no red sugar within distance either
@@gunpringer2342 Actually, Driller is great with vampire as the perk affects not just the pickaxe, but also Drills. It's even better with a cryo build, you can grind up the weakened frozen glyphids into a slushy for a lot of health as you escape through their frozen corpses to revive someone, who probably have more "healing" around them.
Deep Rock Galactic is how a lot of aspects of co-op games "should be done" and I love being part of the cult. I wore a DRG shirt to the grocery store a few months ago and literally got a "Rock and Stone!" from someone. I have a best friend that I play with a lot, but we always have randos join too. You really do feel like you're part of something, and that helps you immerse yourself and escape from life for a while. The devs are great too, and it feels like theyre part of the community as well. They respond and resonate with the playerbase. They even added in voice lines from mission control to yell at us when we spend entire minutes yelling "We're Rich!" or just staring at a giant mushroom shouting "Mushroom!" It's truly a unique gaming experience that you really cheat yourself out of if you're not playing with some randos and joining in on the "cult."
They also listen to the community and implamate things that are fun. The mini-meteors from the current season event was a bug that got introduced into the code at some point that caused the big meteor to shrink in size and only produce a single plagueheart if anything. GSG finally fixed it. But the mini-meteors were so funny that people petitoned them to bring it BACK. And they did. They managed to isolate the bug and rescript it into part of the event as a 'meteor shower' where 4-5 of them crash into the caves where 1-2 of them have the plague hearts.
One of the most satisfying things was playing with a friend, discovering that pinging a compressed gold chunk or bittergem caused exactly one voice line of your dwarf declaring, "We're rich!" and no other voice line, ever, making a habit of repeatedly eliciting that line for a moment before depositing every time without fail... and then discovering that everybody else who plays started doing the exact same thing in some kind of weird stand alone complex. Long live the dwarves!
And then the devs added several annoyed responses from mission control when the dwarves ping a gold chunk over and over, like 'yes you're rich, now get back to work!' It's great to play a game where the devs are so attuned to what the community doesn't even know it needs!
Try to find the Xenofungas "Mushroom" line. Both are good, but my personal favourite is Mushroom. Mission control is even more angry with you for that.
my favorite editing trick in all of everything is building up a single in the background and having the climax play after speaking like at 20:52. this is in no way related to the video but i just can’t get enough of it
As much as I love playing DRG with my friends, playing with randoms, no mic, using only your laser pointer and salute to comunicate is an amazing experience
Note on iron will, if you gain any health during the revived state you stay up as if you got revived normally. This is really effective on scout (I also main him), as you can grapple to red sugar for a get out of jail free card. You can also resupply for the revive so I sometimes run re-supplier and revive invulnerability on armor for a really cheesy build.
Vampirism is also very good for this, most classes can get a few health from a power attack, but dripper is especially well suited with cryo and drills to convert enemies into tasty health packs
@alexkaplan6581 dripper mains are the scariest because they *ALWAYS* (and I mean it) obliterate you with their exposives., and then proceed to camp your downed body like their life depends of it. Not to be mistaken with the driller, wich is a sociopath that sometimes helps, but he doesn't kill you, he kills himself because "look I did the funny"
It's not a cheesy build it's the mainstay at Hazard 5. Vampire, Resupplier, Born Ready, Dash and Iron Will is the go-to selection, with some changes here or there (maybe you run non-reloadable weapons so you can trade Born Ready for like Sweet Tooth, Unstoppable or Elemental Insulation, or maybe use Heightened Senses instead of Dash on the Scout etc.)
the devs have geniously cultivated a community where people help eachother, are friendly with eachother and always try and stay possitive despite how bad any situation might seem rock and stone lads
In my opinion the best feature in the game is the LFG/server system, its so easy to join already occurring games, no matter how far they are into the mission, there is no competition with your teammates, and the cooperation is towards ending the mission and getting the most amount of materials and XP boosters. But probably what contributes the most to the lack of toxicity is that the challenges you do, for most of them mission difficulties DON’T matter, so you can choose to either finish them quick, via lower hazard missions or joining ones in progress, or challenging yourself with greater hazards. It’s all up to you. Another really cool aspect of the server system is that there is no in-game filter that discriminates on level, so you can be a level 5 greenbeard and have a greybeard gunner with 20 promotions under his belt join because both of you are doing the same challenge, and instead of the game lumping him in with a noob against his will, this is something experienced players can do out of their own volition, which greatly adds to the positivity of the community!!
6:43 As a scout main with 7 missions as gunner, 0 as engineer, 3 as driller, and 860 something as scout, With a max-promoted scout and no other promotions, I agree with this sentiment.
I love all the classes and play all of them, but scout is my favorite. Someone has to make sure the cavern is lit up and theres too many shit scouts that are just there to snipe and zoom and let you fight a horde in pitch black darkness. LIGHT IT UP!
The memorial hall is what keeps me going, to the fallen. This game deeply recognizes its community, it also loves and respects every single user, there’s a thank you board that you can actually look at for ages and see every user. It’s beautiful.
The only thing you may have missed is the underlying "working for the man" vibe. I don't think the company is supposed to be "bad ass". I think it's supposed to feel like you're just a cog in the machine, but that strengthens your bond with your dwarf friends(and the memory of Karl). The company doesn't care about you. That's why you have to wait at the extraction pod until Molly gets there.
There’s a lot of overt tones, like the escape pod leaving with or without you, getting payed via scrip for the battle pass, and even just the whole fact it’s mining, then there’s a ton of more subtle things that are below the surface level, much smaller design choices.
Iron will is actually one of if not the best perk in the game. The neat thing about it is that not only can you revive other teammates who are down, but you can also revive yourself if you find a source of healing, be it from a resupply, red sugar or from the vampire perk. Incredibly useful for coming in clutch. Just make sure you save it for when the whole team goes down, you only get one and it's a waste when someone can just revive you if you wait a minute.
On higher dificulties its worth it to use it even if everyone is up, as long as everyone has iron will for those truly bad situations, a gunner going down could mean a team wipe, but getting back up and tossing a sheild can save your team
yeah vampire+iron will is so good that its basically meta and even the most casual players will run it. its why a lot of people want a perk overhaul in this game, as there are a few that are just objectively better and it isnt even close
DRG holds a special place in my heart. Not because of the gameplay, or the art direction, but because of the community. DRG has the nicest and friendlies and most welcoming community i've ever been apart of. Rock and Stone Miners.
For me, what gets you into the game is it's amazing community. I haven't seen yet another game with a community this welcoming and open for new players. Great work man, I'm one of the new people that spawned with the RoR2 video and I'm loving every banger you put out. Keep it up!
Stardew Valley I’ve found out, also has an incredibly nice and welcoming community. I mean I was kind of expecting that from a game like stardew valley, but a lot of game communities are awesome and super chill.
I've never played this game with any of my friends at all. It's still an extremely fun game with randoms, which i think is how its meant to be played. 4 random people coming together for a days work and drinks. Each filling and role and saluting their fellow workers. I love it.
Me and my friends are all about immersion in video games. We mess around of course because any group of friends does, but our favourite thing to do is put ourselves into the world of the game and roleplay a little bit. So we walk through the caves instead of sprinting, we coordinate and deal with swarms and clear out caves in an organized manner. And so there's not really enough silly business happening to miss out on taking in how cool deep rock is.
I roleplay as the disgruntled employee, bitching about the equipment, the insurance, the raining underground, the cabins on the station, and of course, the beer prices =)
The space rig really is great, when I first played the game I must've spent 30 minutes just wandering around and interacting with all the doodads, and the specialty drinks you can buy when you level up are delightfully chaotic.
Its so crazy this game is only 5gb. I downloaded it yesterday. I always try games solo and then with friends. Ultimately, my friends won't be on when I am, so I need to find it enjoyable. Glad you found a better mindset.
DRG really does foster a sense of brotherhood and belonging. Every dwarf is your brother, everyone just knows what to do and does their best. I love it.
Agreed. Feeling good as a team with "Rock and Stone" really was essential for the game's culture. There was a time in development when "Rock and Stone" didn't exist, and now I can really appreciate that the devs and implemented it.
I love it that if you play with random people and get stuck or lost on the way to extraction, every one will risk a mission failed to get you out! Truly "Leave no dwarf behind"
Also the fact that in the memorial hall shows early supporters or discord members on the screens makes it feels like more of a community like its just a small community. It just feels so familiar and it shows that the devs clearly care and listen to their fanbase
The REAL reason this game is so friendly/the people are the opposite of toxic is because the game is made in a way of teamwork like all of ur tools can work together like engi shooting plattforms and scout grappling to them and so on and then there is the only voice line to communicate (not chat or voice chat) makes you say Rock and stone so you can press the button to say it when for example another dwarf joins in and bam you are a wholesome person and that just spreads around and then there is all quotes in the game that motivate you to "Dont leave a dwarf behind" and others the game silently brainwashes you into these things and to spread them and they are funny aswell wich helps for the wholesome part of it. Like everything in the game is made in a way to be nice so when a griefer joins you just kick him out of the group even when someone trys that they dont make too much damage and the game makes you focus on the objective like killing swarms and getting recources to be prepared for whats coming next instead of team fighting like your concentrating on helping the team and thats just why everyone is so nice... (Ghostship cooked with Teamwork and thats why everyone forgets about being toxic and there is basicly no toxic interactions)
To get maximum gameplay value out of this game, play every class a thorough amount before settling back into your main. Do this every once in a while, and the gameplay loop gets less loopy and more gameplay-y.
Iron Will is actually huge, even in SP. Jokingly speaking, field medic and iron will are the only actives we allow our teammates to pick after hundreds of hours of experience on H4/5. One thing that's noteworthy about iron will is that you stay alive if you get healed. So you can fix yourself up in a clutch. Have some sugar or a supply pod next to you? You can now stand up yourself. Took vampire? Great, just kill a grunt. Are stuck in a very bad to reach spot (the ceiling as a scout, or maybe a big hole as a driller), pop it and fix that situation so someone can actually pick you up. Your whole team wiped? One of you uses iron will and singlehandedly fixes the whole god damn situation, especially with field medic. Rinse and repeat once per team member. As for field medic, gunner shield serves kinda the same purpose, but for everybody else field medic makes sure you can ressurrect someone even in tight spots.. swarms.. bosses, whatnot. Heck, i even recommend taking the prolonged invulnerability as the last armor upgrade, because it plays really well into this whole "get out of jail for free card" playstyle. If you play well, you dont often die. Most of the maps you probably wont have to use these perks anyways, and in that case any other perks wouldnt have helped either. Sometimes tho.. shit just hits the fan. Sometimes the game wants to see you dead and throws everything except nitra your way, constantly, with no end in sight. As far as this kind of messed up mission is concerned, no other perks get you out of these situations as well as iron will and field medic. And it's not even a competition. Tho, i totally suck at remembering cave leeches exist. If i didnt have my mate who is immune to being caught off guard by those fuckers and always saves my ass, heightened senses would be up there too. While im at it, passives have a lot of good choices. I personally think pocket capacity is mandatory, but your milage may vary. I couldnt live without 60 capacity. Vampire is top tier if you play with iron will, or are a driller, especially using cryo cannon. I am. So that's pretty much 2 reds locked in for me personally. Everything that saves you time or gives you more health is an obvious choice to be considered aswell, like resupplier, sweet tooth, veteran depositer, or even born ready. Along the same lines of thought i actually unironically like thorns too. Many people overestimate it, then become disappointed and never look at it again, but it's great for those situations where there is always one or two swarmers nibbling at you while you have better things to do. Which is like.. pretty much every other mission. In these cases it saves time since you dont have to interrupt whatever important thing you are doing right now, as long as you know what thorns is capable of handling and what will overwhelm your shield. The other passives are, imho, simply too situational or dont provide enough value. Some specific perks may be of use to specific classes i dont play tho; i can see scouts liking hover boots for example.
I played this game twice, once with a group of randoms. They showed me where to go, completely ignored how useless i was, and bought me endless drinks. This community really is awesome.
You need to play all the classes to experience the game. The play style changes and you can also play with so many cool weapons. Also the game gets a lot more fun when you unlock Overclocks.
Deep rock is interesting. A few years back I had my brother get it. First session he was really underwhelmed and thought it was just another pve shooter. But on the second session it clicked and now he has almost 200 hours in it, which is more then he has in basically any other game. It seems like there is a moment where the game clicks and you understand just how fantastic it is
I went through the same thing. Played it early on, didn't really get it. Felt clunky as hell. Played it again recently, loved it. I think all the new content since helped.
I also enjoy DRG, and I've also been putting a lot of thought into why the community is so good in this game. In addition to the pieces you noted (which I agree with), I think a number of other subtle, but powerful, design decisions all serve to nudge the game in a more cooperative, less troll-infested, direction: - The easiest, spammable social-macro in the game ("Rock and stone!") is genuine, positive, encouraging, and shockingly unannoying when repeated (consider: they took the time to make several variants on it, all just as spam-friendly). You're standing around kinda eyeballing 3 people you don't know? Spam this and folks just start to like each other more. (Compare this to the character voice macros of a game like Overwatch, where hearing "In the desert" 50x pre-match makes me want to shoot my own team). - The game encourages people to fill out the classes on a mission, and lets players force that if they want, but doesn't do so by default. Then, it designed the classes to synergize, but be soloable to at least some extent depending on mission type and difficulty. Everyone feels like they're bringing something to a mission, but things won't fall apart without them. - (You said this one, but:) The space rig pre/post-mission hangout is AMAZING. Beer? Dancing? Throwable objects? I start 2/3 of my missions having a pre-mission beer with the lads; how many people would really troll their new drinking buddies? - Rewards are shared: One player finds a lootbox in-mission, everyone gets the item. One player drops an ammo crate, everyone can get a hit (unless someone is super troll-y, which is rare). - Collaboration is rewarded, over and over, in so many ways: Help someone get to a place with your traversal tool? Everyone gets more gold/exp/faster missions. Drop a shield or a zipline? Everyone can use it, simultaneously. There are so many "carrots" incentivizing cooperative, constructive behaviour. Think on this: DRG has FRIENDLY FIRE. They made a coop game, gave it friendly fire, and folks STILL don't troll each other. That's how powerful the vibes are. Yes, the gameplay itself is tight, the loops are solid, and the weapons neat, but all of that would wither unnoticed if the game were a gankfest...but it isn't. It's something really special, and thank you for giving it a 2nd chance and talking it up here. The devs really deserve recognition for the choices they made; the above, I'm sure, wasn't accidental.
Correction : it is tradition to blow up your team at least ONCE if you're driller, just as a good measure. That's all the rolling this game has pretty much.
sometime friendly fire gets used as a communication tool. I always try to warn my team mates if I have the M!000 with the focused shot overclock.. because it really hurts if it hits them charged and I always feel sory for them.. but dude.. I can't move while I'm F**** focused ^^° The trolling that does occur is almost always in a fun way and not in a harmful or annoying way and you forgot the kick button for the host.. If you have one of the rare toxic players... just get rid ot them.. ez
Me and my three brothers play Deep Rock Galactic, it's a huge vibe. The oldest grappling everything going all arround the second also a scout, but more of a team player. The third just spamming platforms and turrets and me, digging useless tunnels to get lost in, refusing to use headlights and flamethrowering everything hostile and nonhostile in the area. After each succesfull mission we treat ourself on a little drink, or two, or three, or four ... aw crap, engineer passed out.
250 hrs and I’m ready to admit that this video was the main reason I finally dug out DRG from my list of compulsive unplayed purchases and it’s now one of my favorite multiplayer games of all time
I feared that any follow up video compared to the viral RoR2 vid would be weak. But you turned up and delivered. The opening 8 or so minutes dragged a touch, but I loved the vid and yea Imma go try Deep Rock out :3 Much love
15:17 to 16:36 hits harder than ever hearing your thoughts on it. Leave no dwarf behind. Rock and stone. 18:38 a reminder, if you collect 6 plague hearts for the season event bonus scrips, you actually have to click on the scrips to collect them once you can, don't miss out on scrips for the cosmetic tree!
I actually had an inverse experience. I can't explain it, but I seem to get "immersed" very differently from lots of people. So when I played alone and saw the quiet cave atmosphere and the gorgeous lighting, I didn't feel much. The game was decent, as you said, but I didn't get anything out of it. But then I gathered some friends and we were chanting "rock and stone!" within an hour. The sheer comradery was palpable within our group, and we still joked all the time at the very end of the session.
10:39 Iron Will is op as a safety net in co-op. If everyone goes down, you have someone iron will and properly revive another player or go grab some healing, saving the mission. In single player, it's not as good, but can still function as an extra revive is a resupply or some red sugar is around.
What a journey. I originally gifted this game to a friend for Christmas, and it looked fun enough for the gang to play together. After a while, they played less and less, slowly returning to their go-to's. I started playing alone. I had run so so many solo missions, deep dives, hopping in random lobbies. And like you point out, exploring space rig and taking in the biomes. Together, that's when i think i really fell in love.
what you explained is the reason why I did everything solo at first, to familiarise yourself at your own pace and the memorial hall really hits different Leave no dwarf behind!
12:43 Well there's the in-game text chat. That can go a little wrong sometimes. Also, the devs made a wonderful little inclusion of never missing a cosmetic. Didn't get something from a cosmetic tree or performance pass? It's added to your drop pool for cargo crates and lost packs. Missed a holiday event? You can get it next year. The only things that are ever limited-time are the Steam awards items (so far only two, very similar Viking-style helmets) and the DRG Anniversary helmets, as there's a new one every year. Everything else can be acquired so there's nowhere near as much pressure to finish the pass or complete the tree
Funnily enough Iron Will is potentially even stronger on Solo because you have a limited number of revives Bosco can do conpared to teammates, and if you can grab even just 1 hp before it runs out you can actually fully get back up
This is one of the few games where CO-OP is co existing in the same match. Sure you can talk with your friends but playing with randoms works just as well. No mic? No problem! The dwarves communicate with eacother so you don't have to. The roles and gameplay are crafted in such a way that everybody knows what to do without communication. Need to dig in for a swarm? Turrets are set up in advance. Come upon a large open dark room? Pop a flare. Big wall of compact dirt? Drill through it.
I see a lot of Warhammer 40k in DRG. But with a goofy sense of humor. That's exactly why this game is my favorite! Rock & Stone, mushroom-goo sack brothers!
Some of the best moments that I remember from this game is when one of the dwarfs is down when you are about to leave and then two dwarves just have to perform the best rescue mission ever.
Seeing these video essays about DRG always warms my heart, i love seeing people discover my favorite game and slowly join the cult lol Rock and Stone :D
I also had that happen to me before, I got into a game because of my friends but they were rushing through and talking so much that it just ruined the experience for me and put me off from the game. Someone suggested I try it again just with them, and we'd take our time and enjoy it, so I said okay, and got super into it from there.
Yeah the game can be a little overwhelming, but i got the privilege of experiencing the game for the first time along with my friend who was also playing for the first time. It's a lot more easy to take in when you have the chance to take your time
Another feature of the hub is each cabin room is styled to each Dwarf's personality. If you're looking at the Medbay door from the outside, the closest cabin on the left belongs to Engineer, the farthest on the left belongs to Scout. The closest cabin on the right side of the door belongs to Gunner, the furthest belongs to Driller. It's also fun to note that Driller has a Breach Cutter poster, even though it's an Engineer weapon. Maybe he's jealous.
Deep Rock Galactic is outstanding in many aspects, but what keeps me playing is that the missions always bring you different experiences, the teamwork is fantastic, and you can continually refine and improve in matches, both in your skills and in the builds you create for your characters. This way you can gradually increase the game's difficulty and join teams to assist them in more challenging missions.
This is a really well done way of introducing DRG especially to new people who are skeptical about it. A lot of other videos note on all these little details but your perspective on solo and actually paying attention to these details I feel is something people should have a try at when they first try Nice work I’d say you’ve earned a subscribe from this.
as a newer player, it may seem fine to stick to a single class, but all of them are objectively fun and you really need to level them all to get the proper rewards.
@@palecaptainwolfkayls8499yeah, objectively in my opinion engineer isn’t my thing. He just doesn’t have the mobility of scout or the absolute map maker and crowd control of driller, or the absolute power of gunner. His just got a prey style Glu gun (who remembers that) and a small shooti boi.
@@GabrielWard-yu6sk Honestly I mix it up between his Anti-Material launcher, RJStun Bomb, and, since it got updated, both of Breach Cutter’s funny spinners, but I prefer having 3 methods of making Fear Inducing Explosions at a time. Plus the ability to control where bugs go is fun, too. Just don’t go overboard with the plats is all. Gunner is when I want to be a sustaining force, Engineer is my go-to for burst _and_ mobility.
The gameplay is solid..rock solid. The part that keeps me in is i owe they community, i was a greeen beard and i got lost during pickup. I had not all three other players cime back for me. I also heard the only voice chat in my many hours. It was a player named "the lastagro" and he said "no dwarf left behind". We made it with seven seconds left. Epic.
I hoped on a random discord call where i knew no one in it and someone said "Dose anyone want to play Deep Rock Galactic?" It is now my favorite game, and I thank that random dude in the call. ROCK AND STONE TO THE BONE
Was kinda in a similar boat a while back. I had wanted to try DRG for the longest time, finally got it to play with them, but wasn’t really able to appreciate the game itself because they’d do everything, tell me what to do, and try to tell me what buttons to press. I’d die constantly, barely even learn the game. Deciding to play solo was the best decision I made.
For me this is one of the only games in the history of games that really, really deserves a 10/10, it has everything you would want in a game, and besides that the devs are really cool and frequently interact with the community. That said, I'm going to dip my balls into liquid morkite. Rock and stone!!!
Doesn’t have a dedicated pvp game mode, which is fine for some, but it definitely makes the “has everything you would want in a game” just blatantly untrue
@@timcal2136 That just means that you've failed to read or understand the game's genre, style and target audience. It's a CO-OP game for a reason, and DRG dedicates EVERYTHING to maximize the jolly co-operation between players. Zero competitive features, everyone gets 100% of everything gained, and the more people join and survive your journeys, the more everyone profits!
@@timcal2136 I'll join the comment chain but kinda try to re-focus it rather than the other commenter just accusing you of "not understanding". Technically yes, "Everything you would want in a game" is inaccurate in those most literal terms, BUT. The point of OP's description saying that it's "everything you want from a game" is more that it's nigh-perfect for what DRG trying to be. Relatedly and with more vitriol, in a world where 99% of the AAA gaming industry feels obligated to shoe-horn in any number of extras, Single-Player games with tacked on vestigial competitive modes or Live Service Tracks, & where in the past few years basically every good shooter threw their lot into a Battle Royale of any amount of varying quality; Deep Rock Galactic decided it would stick to its guns and focus exclusively on the core idea of what it wants to be.
@@Mecha_Hitler I can't tell if you're trolling or being honest. BUT. I will confess that multiple mechanics of DRG would probably also make a killer competitive game / Battle Royal. things like the Drills and Platform Gun would be amazing to play around with in such a setting (Heck, One of the original selling points of Fortnite basically amounted to Destroying and Building things, until they found out that removing the building mechanics somehow made the game better) But I still think that GSG sticking to their guns with their Co-Op Centered design.
You didn't mention it so I want to make sure you are made aware, you can pet steeve. And it's adorable. Also there's an achievement for placing every barrel on the station into the drop pod and the operators reactions while you do it are hilarious

“Fuck this one, fungus bogs suck” In my head: Wait until he runs a Haz 5 on Molten Core

Which is not even necessary, because you dont lose anything if you are not alive at the end of the mission. But we still make sure we bring everyone home, even the Doretta head!
@@stevendeamon Technically you get paid a bit more for each surviving dwarf.

There is enough variety in classes, procedural generation, weapons, mission types, random boss encounters and the new seasonal content to keep a person entertained endlessly, and I really hope you continue to enjoy the game as much as I have.

the last part really sold me on the game too, they somehow sync the in-game camaraderie with online interactions. it hypnotizes people into being good sports with its entire brotherhood-like "leave no one behind" atmosphere. as if the game itself is the anti-toxicity system.

What having a dedicated "salute/greeting/motivation" button does to a community
We shout rock and stone asva warcry, as a way the players bond with each other, and also as you said, it's a saying that the dwarves use as a pseudo memento mori, that they won't leave a dwarf behind on hoxxes, as for the iconic line FOR KARL! Karl is rumored to have been one of the first dwarves lost on hoxxes, and his name is used as a rallying cry by the dwarves of deep rock galactic
Drg is that weird type of game which has to age in your library for quite some time only for you to absolutely get addicted next time you play it
yeah I had this with vermintide 2 and deep rock. Sunk like 500 hours each -__- I love it but MAN
My friend when we first got it played it like 40 hours then just stopped. It took another friend getting it to get him playing again and now were all addicted
Played probably 10 hours in 2018, then booted it up in 2021. Been playing daily since then.
got about 838 hours clocked right now. i was playing even before the first season, so seeing this game evolve has been really great.
i do have a bit of burnout, but unlike most 'live-service' games that threaten you with FOMO bullshit, i never feel like i 'have' to play this game. i can play it whenever i want and i know that i will enjoy it as much as i did the last time.
except rivals, they suck and they were just a bad addition to the game.
Played 50 hours, left the game for a year, within the last 2 month i now have 200+ hours

But then i stopped for awhile because exam and also not motivated
Long story btw
I hopped back in after season 4 kicks in. Because of the new update i might need to dig it further and finish it all until im satisfied (nope it doesn't yet lol)
I started to look around the space rig makes me wonder this.
Different kind of region makes also has a different mutation warning even though it doesnt have a matual mutation set because were set up by a company and an alive planet
Playing with random team is so goofy and funny even tho in a serious situation still pinging about *Mushroom* or *were rich* but sometimes they don't (depends on the server)
The abyss bar make me want to own all the licence because seeing someone hand me a drink that i never seen before and has special effects! (You wont see this in any game at all!) makes me think i could license it and drink it all myself! (My favourite beer is smartsout because i like facts)
Free battlepass? Feels like this game made by santa claus

I couldn't buy the extra content because there are more free skins out there waiting to try out just like the battlepass!
Then the window. Outside. In space it looks so beautiful thought low polygon will look bad but it doesn't. It has more details if you get closer with Black hole beer or using devs to noclip out of the space station

More immersive than just "dwarf spawns in your world".
it's always wild dropping into a server and hearing screams and gunshots from your drop pod. especially if you drop into a boss fight or swarm

ROCK AND STONE BROTHER
@@Zectifin Dwarves are kinda gender neutral though, I mean there are memes about female dwarves still having beards and such.
@@p_serdiukI'm going to be honest, they could just get a female VA and it would probably work fine for the point

Iron Will
When you get back up find a way to get health to fully revive
You can use vampire perk (melee enemy to get health), red sugar or ammo supply
Oh, Iron Will is the best perk by far.
1. You pick it.
2. You NEVER use it.
3. If your entire team gets wiped, you activate it and revive all your friends to save the entire mission.
It's absolutely vital to have at least one, especially for the Scout (who ends up being the medic in haz5 missions anyways)
True, not to mention that it can act as an extra self revive for solo players who need it, since gaining health after IW'ing lets you stay alive after the 6/8/10/12 second period of time wears out, depending on your perk level
I (chronically) play Medic/Support Scout, running the Field Medic perk along with IW.
Isn't gunner kinda the medic with his shield?
Deep Rock Galactic is how a lot of aspects of co-op games "should be done" and I love being part of the cult. I wore a DRG shirt to the grocery store a few months ago and literally got a "Rock and Stone!" from someone. I have a best friend that I play with a lot, but we always have randos join too. You really do feel like you're part of something, and that helps you immerse yourself and escape from life for a while.
The devs are great too, and it feels like theyre part of the community as well. They respond and resonate with the playerbase. They even added in voice lines from mission control to yell at us when we spend entire minutes yelling "We're Rich!" or just staring at a giant mushroom shouting "Mushroom!"
It's truly a unique gaming experience that you really cheat yourself out of if you're not playing with some randos and joining in on the "cult."
Oh, my God. Why did I never think of this?
I need to buy a DRG shirt. Maybe a hat. I hope they have hats.
@@randallpetersen9164I laughed so hard when I got that for the first time after they added it

Also "It's a goo sack"
my favorite editing trick in all of everything is building up a single in the background and having the climax play after speaking like at 20:52. this is in no way related to the video but i just can’t get enough of it
As much as I love playing DRG with my friends, playing with randoms, no mic, using only your laser pointer and salute to comunicate is an amazing experience
@@icejustice6122 very true as well, my scout brain forgot about that perk
@@icejustice6122dripper lmao
@alexkaplan6581 dripper mains are the scariest because they *ALWAYS* (and I mean it) obliterate you with their exposives., and then proceed to camp your downed body like their life depends of it.
Not to be mistaken with the driller, wich is a sociopath that sometimes helps, but he doesn't kill you, he kills himself because "look I did the funny"
It's not a cheesy build it's the mainstay at Hazard 5. Vampire, Resupplier, Born Ready, Dash and Iron Will is the go-to selection, with some changes here or there (maybe you run non-reloadable weapons so you can trade Born Ready for like Sweet Tooth, Unstoppable or Elemental Insulation, or maybe use Heightened Senses instead of Dash on the Scout etc.)
the devs have geniously cultivated a community where people help eachother, are friendly with eachother and always try and stay possitive despite how bad any situation might seem
rock and stone lads
Bro a scout saved me with 2 seconds on the clock Chad community
Helldivers but funny dwarf instead
I just bought the game, ROCK AND STONE
All the other classes become so much more fun than scout when they unlock things however scout is fun from the start.

Karl would approve of this
The space rig really is great, when I first played the game I must've spent 30 minutes just wandering around and interacting with all the doodads, and the specialty drinks you can buy when you level up are delightfully chaotic.
ROCK AND STONE
ROCK AND STONE
rock and stone
STONE AND ROCK...
Oh wait
DID I HEAR A ROCK AND STONE?!?!
FOR ROCK AND STONE
Also yes, the overclocks are like half the game because the entire way you build your character starts to revolve around them
To get maximum gameplay value out of this game, play every class a thorough amount before settling back into your main. Do this every once in a while, and the gameplay loop gets less loopy and more gameplay-y.

THEY ALSO LET YOU CHANGE THE SEASON NOW
WHAT
Iron Will is actually huge, even in SP.
He mentions all of that by the end
As a man famously said: "If you ain't Rock and Stone, you ain't coming home!"
In addition to the pieces you noted (which I agree with), I think a number of other subtle, but powerful, design decisions all serve to nudge the game in a more cooperative, less troll-infested, direction:
- The easiest, spammable social-macro in the game ("Rock and stone!") is genuine, positive, encouraging, and shockingly unannoying when repeated (consider: they took the time to make several variants on it, all just as spam-friendly).
I always try to warn my team mates if I have the M!000 with the focused shot overclock.. because it really hurts if it hits them charged and I always feel sory for them.. but dude.. I can't move while I'm F**** focused ^^°
The trolling that does occur is almost always in a fun way and not in a harmful or annoying way
and you forgot the kick button for the host.. If you have one of the rare toxic players... just get rid ot them.. ez
as a gunner player, i do kill my teammates... but only if they kill my lootbugs. nobody dares touching my lootbugs.

rocks and stone may break my bones but beer will never hurt me@@wraithy_harhakuva
The opening 8 or so minutes dragged a touch, but I loved the vid and yea Imma go try Deep Rock out :3
Much love
15:17 to 16:36 hits harder than ever hearing your thoughts on it.
Leave no dwarf behind. Rock and stone.
18:38 a reminder, if you collect 6 plague hearts for the season event bonus scrips, you actually have to click on the scrips to collect them once you can, don't miss out on scrips for the cosmetic tree!
What is the song on the 15:17?
Deep Rock Galactic - Ode to the Fallen ua-cam.com/video/UGMwahK4YKU/v-deo.html
I actually had an inverse experience. I can't explain it, but I seem to get "immersed" very differently from lots of people. So when I played alone and saw the quiet cave atmosphere and the gorgeous lighting, I didn't feel much. The game was decent, as you said, but I didn't get anything out of it. But then I gathered some friends and we were chanting "rock and stone!" within an hour. The sheer comradery was palpable within our group, and we still joked all the time at the very end of the session.

Iron Will is op as a safety net in co-op.
Together, that's when i think i really fell in love.
what you explained is the reason why I did everything solo at first, to familiarise yourself at your own pace
and the memorial hall really hits different
Leave no dwarf behind!
Rock & Stone, mushroom-goo sack brothers!
sometimes you can make your scout look like an ultramarine and you're basically fighting tyranids
How?
The God-Karl of Dwarfkind.
Ghost Ship Games has a lot of 40k nerds and there are obvious references to it like the Slayer Crest.
They very much welcomed the return of the Squats that April Fools' Day when it was shown that they weren't joking
Some of the best moments that I remember from this game is when one of the dwarfs is down when you are about to leave and then two dwarves just have to perform the best rescue mission ever.
Man, the analogy between the grass and deep rock galactic is top tier 👌
Seeing these video essays about DRG always warms my heart, i love seeing people discover my favorite game and slowly join the cult lol
Rock and Stone :D
ROCK AND STONE!
@@galanga21890I forgot about that background to the weapon, it could very easily be that too lol
13:31 LEAF LOVER ALERT
Awsome Work now we need an Outer Wilds video
Absolutely agree
Deep Rock Galactic is outstanding in many aspects, but what keeps me playing is that the missions always bring you different experiences, the teamwork is fantastic, and you can continually refine and improve in matches, both in your skills and in the builds you create for your characters. This way you can gradually increase the game's difficulty and join teams to assist them in more challenging missions.
This is a really well done way of introducing DRG especially to new people who are skeptical about it.
A lot of other videos note on all these little details but your perspective on solo and actually paying attention to these details I feel is something people should have a try at when they first try
Nice work
I’d say you’ve earned a subscribe from this.
There is nothing more joyous than grinding pipelines.
as a newer player, it may seem fine to stick to a single class, but all of them are objectively fun and you really need to level them all to get the proper rewards.
Yea I switched to driller after getting gunner to 25
Even if you may not find a class to love more than your one, it’s good experience to learn the specialties and quirks of your other fellow Dwarves.
@@GabrielWard-yu6sk
Honestly I mix it up between his Anti-Material launcher, RJStun Bomb, and, since it got updated, both of Breach Cutter’s funny spinners, but I prefer having 3 methods of making Fear Inducing Explosions at a time.
Plus the ability to control where bugs go is fun, too. Just don’t go overboard with the plats is all.
Gunner is when I want to be a sustaining force, Engineer is my go-to for burst _and_ mobility.
@@palecaptainwolfkayls8499 the breach cutter is pretty fun to use though ngl.
Bro actually made me think about why i love this game. This guy was actually cooking
@@aquamarinerose5405 I want a DRG battle royale.
@@Mecha_Hitler I can't tell if you're trolling or being honest. BUT.
I will confess that multiple mechanics of DRG would probably also make a killer competitive game / Battle Royal. things like the Drills and Platform Gun would be amazing to play around with in such a setting (Heck, One of the original selling points of Fortnite basically amounted to Destroying and Building things, until they found out that removing the building mechanics somehow made the game better)
But I still think that GSG sticking to their guns with their Co-Op Centered design.
You didn't mention it so I want to make sure you are made aware, you can pet steeve. And it's adorable.
Also there's an achievement for placing every barrel on the station into the drop pod and the operators reactions while you do it are hilarious
