Edge retention on their 1095 isn’t the best out there but it’s damn tough . Thin the edge back a bit and it’ll cut a lot better . I’ve had my Esee 6 for a decade now and it’s still going strong .
I have to say, I've been impressed. I've batonned bigger logs with it, than any other knife, intentionally choosing pieces with knots and branches. I've chopped, and accidentally dropped it from about 4 feet, tip first, directly onto a boulder. The edge hasn't even rolled yet. From the low Rockwell number, I'm shocked. I knew it wouldn't be brittle, but I expected lots of sharpening, and some edge rolling; even some small chips, but I've only experiences the same sharp edge. I'm definitely a fan. You got that right! I didn't understand all the hype around ESEE; I get it now. This knife is amazing! Dropped it, tip first, onto a rock, from about 4 ft( accidentally). No damage at all! My mood went from "Shiiiiiiittttttt!!!", to amazement. I'm in awe of this beast
