    The quality of your video and instruction is exceptional. This is not just a good "how to" on changing blades but on how to make a really good instructional video. Thanks for making this.

    I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

    Me, I like a chock behind the wheels and also to remember that those rubberized ramps can sometimes move on you when used on cement, if not supported against something like a curb or raised part of the driveway. Nice video. Thanks for sharing.

      Great video. I will add chock blocks. Thanks for the warning ⚠️ that the ramp can move on concrete. I want to know all the risks before I take on this project.

    My final comment (one hopes). Removed the "stuck" blade, put WD 40, that did the trick. Thank you, all the weeds are mowed! The poisons (without a permit) aren't getting the difficult weeds. Even the once a year poison doesn't get them. I liked your comment about backing the tractor mower up the ramps.

    I removed my blades to sharpen and when I put new blades on the first time I don’t remember if I was paying attention as to which side faces up toward the bottom of the mower and in reality I never was satisfied with the way my mower was cutting the grass. I didn’t pay attention again and I noticed that you had the rounded side facing upwards. laughing out loud. I needed to see that so that I could do it the correct way this time if I didn’t do it correctly the first time. So,.... hopefully I will have it correct this time in case I didn’t do so the first time. Thanks.

    That ramp trick will come in handy the next time i change blades. Had to remove the deck the first time just to get enough torque to remove the bolts with a hammer and wrench.

    Great video, however, one thing he forgot to mention is to put wheel chocks behind the back tires just in case the mower slipped while his arms were under the mower.

    After removing the blades it would be a good idea to wire brush the spindle surface and perhaps a bit of never seize so the the blade sits flush and will come off easier.

    Thanks for this most helpful video. Glad to see it can be done without removing the deck. Makes it a heck of a lot easier. Hopefully my screws come loose as easily as yours (I'm sure we've both been accused of having a screw loose before) - but a shot of WD40 should do the trick.

    Probably a good idea to check the balance of the new blades before you install. Even new blades can be out of balance believe it or not.

  • @Leoji67

    It's so much easier to remove the deck. Especially if the bolts are rusted or if the nut is bound to the bolts or if your mower has 3 blades. Seriously, it takes less than 10 min to remove the deck.

    From what a saw in another video there's a hole on top you can stick a screwdriver or rod to stop blade so your not holding it with your hand.

    There are so many videos where detail is poorly done or the visual quality is lousy. How delightful to see a crystal clear presentation. But I have a 48 inch Husqvarna model RZ4824F that has 3 blades and the manual states: "Blade replacement, Remove blade bolt by turning counterclockwise. In your video (watched multiple times) you were loosening turning clockwise.
    I used a 5/8 socket with ratchet and even a galvanized pipe to give me more leverage. I had ramps exactly like yours. I followed the Husqvarna instructions & could not budge the bold counterclockwise nor clockwise. I had same problems as some of your other viewers. The not so funny thing is that the dealer I purchased the Husqvarna from gave terrible service. A few weeks after I bought the mower one of the blades fell off. I suppose the repair shop got its revenge because now the blades are on so tight that I can't budge them.

    • @TheManCaveVideo

      +Stephen Strum sounds like they might have used an impact wrench. Good luck! I hope you get it figured out.

    Couple of thoughts: the blade bolt for Husqvarna is a 3/8-24 x 1 1/4 inches heat-treated hex bolt. That means the bolt head requires a 9/16 socket/wrench not a 5/8 socket/wrench. Both blades should be torqued to between 45-55 lbs. with torque wrench and not just tightened by hand. And you should pull the spark plug wires to avoid accidental starts as your first step. Your last step is to start the mower, activate the PTO and then shut the mower down. A final inspection of the deck and blades should then be done. Other than that, nice video work.

    • @TheManCaveVideo
      @TheManCaveVideo  5 років тому +1

      Thanks for the torque specs and safety advice. One thing though, the bolts are actually 7/16-20 and require a 5/8" wrench or socket.

    Why is the star pattern not grabbing well the star shaped notches on the spindle? This is happening on mine (too). So I have to hold it really forcefully to the pattern while screwing it on. Is this normal? Is this safety precaution?

    Great video. How do you manage to keep under the deck free of grass clippings?

    • @TheManCaveVideo
      @TheManCaveVideo  3 роки тому +2

      Best advice is to not mow when the grass is wet. There are sprays you can treat the deck with as well but I have no experience with them. If you get build up, you can remove it with a puddy knife or something similar.

    Does it matter the position of the blades when replacing, where they wouldn't hit each other? Thanks

    • @TheManCaveVideo
      @TheManCaveVideo  3 роки тому

      No. They will spin freely without hitting each other no matter how you put them on there. They are at an angle so they will not leave a gap in the grass, but there is a gap between the blades. There would be no way in a v-belt drive system to keep them in the position you put them on.

  • @samgrub
    @samgrub 9 років тому +2

    Do you half to line the blades up? Got a new one today and it's leaving grass sticking up

    • @TheManCaveVideo
      @TheManCaveVideo  9 років тому +4

      No. How much grass is it leaving? If it is a profound strip down the middle, you may have gotten blades that are too short.

  • @lorirez7800

    Blades changed. Good. Went to mow, pushed the blades on, engine died. Checked around seat switch...seems ok. Other than something serious (Lordy I hope not), could the blades be too tight?

    • @TheManCaveVideo
      @TheManCaveVideo  4 роки тому

      Check your deck belt and make sure it did not partially slip off of one of your pulleys and get in a bind between the pulley itself and one of the guards that keeps the belt on.

    • @lorirez7800
      @lorirez7800 4 роки тому

      @@TheManCaveVideo Thanks for the reply; really wasn't expecting an answer! I'll check the deck belt tomorrow morning when it's not 106 here. Thanks.

    • @lorirez7800
      @lorirez7800 4 роки тому

      I checked the belt; appears to be loose and slight burning smell; it's not grabbing. So I'll get a belt and change it. My question is "How tight is the belt supposed to be" (In case it's supposed to be very loose and that isn't the problem). Maybe an adjustment of a pulley? Or...?
