Koh Phi Phi has gone from one extreme to the other. When I first went in 2005, it was a chill-out island. Somewhere you would go to sip a beer on the beach as the sun went down, watch the fire-dancers and escape the madness of Phuket. I noticed on my last visit in 2019 that it was now a full-on party island and drowning under the weight of tourism. As I stepped off the jetty and saw the newly built McDonald's and Burger King, I thought..."this is the end, time to move on!"
Woah…ive never been to Koh Phi Phi but my fav thai island is Koh Lipe which is also small + touristy. Ive heard koh phi phi is beautiful but too crowded + wondered how koh lipe compares…it’s popular with tourists… but wow there’s no mcdonalds or burger king. Compared to the views you showed, there isn’t the limestone cliffs landscape which are stunning, but the views of sunrise beach with koh adang in bkgnd are pretty beautiful too. You can walk the whole island in a day. I recommend visiting koh lipe, bc of the stunning water + convenience to walk everywhere + still has some local charm + less party scene so it’s not over run with backpackers. It’s absolutely about exploring the 3 beaches + watching sunsets + visiting walking street for some yummy eats. Hopefully it keeps its charm a little longer bc It’s so small + so far in the south. But get there while u can bc i just saw that the first American chain was opened in a resort there, a Starbucks 😢boo. All of the other businesses are more local, except for the 7-11. Bc it’s so south, If u like Malaysia, the easiest way to get there is a ferry from langkawi (which is another beautiful place we love)👌
Okay..that crepe though! it looked sooo good!! hey not everywhere is gonna be for everyone. y'all gave it a shot though :) im excited to see where y'all go next!!
Glad to watch this video. Back in the 1999, I visited Koh Phuket and Koh Phi Phi, beautiful, couldn't believe it that Koh Phi Phi has been over developed for tourism. By the way, newly subscribed. Saw you guys in an interview with Living Abroad in KLCC. Welcome to KL, Malaysia. Hope that you guys will have a good time and a pleasant stay.
I have been to Phi Phi four times since the first time in 2008. Before it was a calm and chill island with Bob Marley music on the beach. The next few times the island just changed into a noisy Ibiza island.
I was in Koh phi phi 7 years ago and it was a nice quiet place, I arrive in Thailand next week definitely will not be going there now ,think I’ll stick to north Chang mai , happy travels
@@AmorevsTheWorld After this being rainny season, it possibly meet strom but only occasional in advance the local to inform avoiding outland trips, unless luckily, you will have a good time for visiting those islands. ( not so hot and sea so clam ) I think you need to check the local and National Park because some islands have time for seasoning close safe from stroms.
I avoided Phi Phi because of it's popularity. Even my first visit in 2000 it seemed everyone had it on their itinerary and for me it's a turn off. The last time I was in Thailand I finally caved in and went to Krabbi for a week or more if I liked it but left after 3 nights as it was just too busy. I need isolation but I prefer a not crowded beach I guess. Bottle Beach on Koh Phangan is my favourite. Happy Travels
Congrats only 3 mins late.Yum burger. Wonder if you did your homework and booked a hotel in advance?? (( bet not )) that might be why you both seem unhappy. Happy you were able to get into your room, I laughed out loud at. 1ST because I thought you were having fun trying to open the door to your OK room. How many cats and stairs???? Amazing sunset. Excellent all around
How I take it- it’s all part of traveling, you then appreciate the easier days and when things go smoothly 😊 I always tell myself, at least I’m not stuck in an office on someone else’s schedule and demands 😂
Im wondering if the tour you were planning on doing that got canceled was for Maya Bay and phi phi Islands? If so is there another island close by to do those tours from? Heading there in December and I would love to do that tour, but would prefer to do a day trip there from a different island.
Hey there, yes it was for maya bay and phi phi islands! And yes - I believe you can also do a tour of these from Railay, Phuket, and possibly some other spots as well. It’s just a bit more expensive because you have to go a farther distance but I think that would be a great choice anyway!
KOH, island in Thai, is pronounced with a soft (o) like in the word GOLF. The letter (h) is there to make the letter (o) soft. No hate, just want you guys to say it correctly. Don't believe me? Just ask a local Thai to say it. And YES, Thai is my second language.
ดูทุกวิดีโอเลย สนุกมากครับ 😊 I would love to see you both try many delicious Thai dishes! 🥺🤌 Btw, is Koh Phangan on your travel plans? I visited last year and I love it. It's a pretty big island, so navigating it might be challenging, but there's stunning nature like mountains, waterfalls, and beaches.
We had 2 nights booked on Koh PhiPhi, but canceled after seeing videos like this...just arrived in AoNang for a couple weeks :) if you're around let's meet up to collaborate on some content!
Wow i was there 1997, i really can't believe what they have crammed on it , 4 beach huts, a couple of bars, n pancakes, 😮 thanks mr dicaprio you've ruined a beautiful island 😢✌️❤️😎🏴🇬🇧

We will follow you to find the gems in Thailand. Travel and have a lot of fun.
Proper period of year for visiting Thai islands is during Jan-May ( high season).

ลองมาเที่ยวที่ เกาะกะดาน ดูครับ คนไม่เยอะและชายหาดสวยด้วย
Live life, guys.

We will have to go back there someday, we’ve heard great things!
Why you cannot get into your room if your sliding window doesn't lock?
Isn't bali the same feeling? How about koh lipe?
