This final part of the creature maquette lesson from Don Lanning was a long time coming, but is so worth the wait...more, more, more please!...love the sculpting lessons from Don, Jordu, Alec, Casey, Simon and the others! Maybe you can get Steve Wang or Shane Mahan to do some sculpting lessons? Or more from the others would be great!
Shane! We're way ahead of you, sir. Shane and Mr. Wang are at the top of our list. Of course, as you can tell, the 4th lesson from Don indicates we love him too! We have a HUGE one in the can from Jordu. Can't wait to share that. PLUS his two LIVE WEBINAR courses we plan to release later this year. Thanks for the support. Awesome feedback. - John
Gabriel, in this lesson, it is WED CLAY and hard, found objects (mostly plastic) with clay colored paint. Don is a master at making this clay do what he says! - John
This looks like an awesome lesson. I usually wait until I get an email with a promo code or discount to buy a lesson, but I don't know If I can wait that long!
CStoegle! 25 too old?!?! No way, dude. Pick up a stick. Buy a hunk of clay and START. These guys can show you in every lesson how to get better and you can get better every day on your very own. We LOVE that you feel this enthusiastic. GO! - John
I'm no sculptor myself but this is what I've been told. Waterbased clays dry out fairly fast. (Matter of days to a week or something) When starting with clay modelling the advice seem to be to use oilbased clay. It can be used over a longer period of time and can easily be used over and over.
I wish that he is my teacher and making this my full time job in the near future. Also that I would be in The Stan Winston School. It's a dream. Maybe one day I'd be lucky enough to visit it and to get to see the people there working on things as such and to shake their hands.
wow.... im inspired now! :) thank you, I really want to pursue art as a career, but my dad says you don't get paid alot , and you can't make a living... then whats this , DAD! 😀
The Stan Winston School is not a physical place. All the lessons are online. You can start learning TODAY right in your own home. Check them out by going to their site. Search: "Stan Winston School of Character Arts"
I got a random noob question for anyone with an answer. Say I buy a hunk of this type of clay, can I just keep crumbling it hundreds of times, sculpting and resculpting to my hearts content? Or will it become unusable before long? I'd like to get my feet wet but with limited funds I cant afford to just keep buying new clay all the time.
Don seems so dramatic in this preview. What happened to "The Power of the X!!!" Don? It feels like he's leaving this video behind for his own child to find many years in the future when Don teaches him about maquette sculpting. Love ya guys!! See you soon I hope. It's been too long.

Love Don's work. I had the honor of meeting him once at a demo, one of the most down to earth famous people I ever met.

Thats à part of à bioshock figure
Very oldschoolish design though..
Why you destroyed the last you sculpt
Because it's a pain in the ass making another rig or finding room to put a wet piece that isn't final in the first place.
a comment that happens to come after yours.
First
So sad to see him change the sculpture. Dont destroy the amazing art.
