I'm amazed at how you guys care about the attention to details! I just googled "Knight Rider semi interior" and noticed there were a few variants of the interior along the show (duh!). One of them has "reflective squares" in the middle of the crossed black beams. If that's the version you're reproducing, those would be perfect places to put the donor names, since you would have several of them on each side to use.
Sounds like if we get all our ducks in a row we might be seeing a completed FLAG by the end of the year! Very excited to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel for this one. I can only imagine how many kids and adults alike will have a great time looking at the trailer and semi, and hearing y'all talk about it when you visit a show
I would love to see an virtual interview or even a personal visit from an original surviving cast member (The Hoff, Patricia McPherson, Rebecca Holden, Peter Parros, William Daniels) . Keep up the great work! Congrats on 100k! Perhaps even a virtual interview with original KARR voice actor Peter Cullen would be a huge win.
Joe, it is amazing how much the trailer has come along since you found it in my neck of the woods in the Metro Phoenix area. My dad was rivited watching every update by the Tractor, & the trailers progress. He unfortunately passed in December of 2022. Keep up the good work, & I look forward to see it back in black & eventually in person someday! Hello from Phoenix Arizona🌡🔥
I know you want to keep the orginal black paint in various sections. Such as the area at the back that will have the trim piece put over it. However there is significant surface rust around those areas of orginal black that I hope you will do something about/treat? and not just put the trim over it. If you don't do something about the rust it will eventually destroy what you're trying to preserve.
This is cool! Have you ever talked about your plans for the *inside* of the sleeper? Will it just be storage for cons? Will you set it up as an actual sleeper? Are there pictures from the show that give clues how its inside looked?
I love videos joe I always was a fan of knightrider when I came a streamer back in 2022 I come up with a good streaming gaming it was Knightrider Gaming so I want to thank you the restoring of the rig and trailer
Cool plans, lots of interesting Knight Rider projects to follow :) Knight Rider started here in Finland in January-10-1984 at 18.45 - 20.30, so to celebrate the 40th anniversary, watched the Pilot episode exactly the same time in that day, from vhs tape and crt tv for as original experience as possible now 40 years later.
@@TheQuirkyGarage1999 In the early 2000's I looked all Finnish TV guides from the years, when Knight Rider was first time aired, and took notes of the air dates, at first just out of interest, and then to make possible to watch the episodes in order, and anniversary dates like now :) Oh, and it also helps that my equipment has stayed in working order all these years :D
Look, I know we are into preservation and restoration of this trailer. But hear me out. The underneath of that trailer is absolutely horrendous. The boards look water soaked and they look like they are about to peal apart and breakdown. They don't at all look safe. They look moldy and brittle. Now, I may not be seeing everything properly due to camera light and natural lighting. I don't know but, it looks terrible down there. I wouldn't' want to go restoring and preserving this gem, with a horrible under body like that. Of course, this is just my observations and probably doesn't accurately reflect, what is actually going on under there. I'd hate that bottom to be a problem. in the future like holes in the floor because they didn't want to replace the wood floor, again, I have no beef or issues with anyone. I'd love for this to be as sparkling as possible, while maintaining certain historical features preserved.

Amazing work Joe, and how do I donate, cause it would be amazing to get my name in the knight rider semi plaque. But that is amazing on how far you guys have gotten with the semi
I have a question about the tires of the trailer, and I know it's going to seem odd to ask: Are they like regular truck tires (like you'd typically see on pickup trucks) or are they like smaller tires specifically made for semi trailers?
@@KnightRiderHistoriansOfficial Okay. I was curious about it because looking at the video here, the tires look like they belong on a pickup truck to me due to their size. Thank you for the info.

Joe, there is not many people who could take on what you are doing, with the attention of detail being such to your very high standards, we could only dream, so excited to see it taking shape at the rate it is, your making fantastic progress.
In the series it all looked a lot bigger, if you look now it seems so small. What I always wondered how RC when he was driving the truck he just walked into the trailer like that. Yeah the truck was on autodrive they said but how did he get from the truck into the trailer. I never understood that part of the series, there wasn't a back door in the trailer let alone the truck. and he did say to Devon, yes boss the truck is on autodrive. 🤔
It's was a TV series, nothing in it makes sense most of the time. We also accepted cars exploding when you shoot the gas tank or you can knock out a person hitting them on the head with your gun or karate chop.
Will you bring it to cali for a knight rider convention or sometging with the cast at universal or la? If so hope us kitt owners can bring our kitt replicas great job on the trailer and semi and screen used kitt
Happy New Year Joe! Very nice progress. The Semi will look fantastic by the end of this year. Thank you for giving us a tour of the fleet and parts. I'd love to here more abou that white project Trans Am. Is it an 84?
Getting the trailer painted inside a building/shelter is definitely the correct choice. Black shows everything! To make it a better paint job (and to reduce cost and make the painter's life easier), you can hook up temporary light boxes like the tow companies use to tow dead vehicles/trailers that the lights no longer work on (usually held on magnetically or by bungee cords). They can be easily removed and the painters don't have to work around and mask them off (or worry about overspray/damage). Depending on how far you need to go, a semi tow company could bring it to the painting location and they would have the tow lights and repair plate (that way trailer lights don't need to working (or even installed) or the trailer even be registered). A company may even donate their time/service if you show them in a video (advertising). If you decide to tow it yourself with a tractor, you can make light boxes/strips out of scrap wood (especially for the rear) that hold the lights for the trip to the paint shop. Doesn't need to be fancy just functional for a single trip as you can install the lights after paint for the trip home. Just something to consider.
Are there plans to removes, cover up the rust on the underside? Also it's great that you are keeping the dents which were there when the show ended, the dents tell a story and show it's the real deal. I don't get why people want to remove/fix it. It's like if you somehow were able to buy the Venus de Milo(the famous arm less statue) and fix the new arms to it. Sure now it's a complete statue again but the whole identity of the statue and it's history has been erased.
Silly question, but is there a reason you not popping copies of the screen used parts? I would think every kitt building enthusiast would kill and pay well to have screen accurate parts on their car instead of the in accurate ones that you are swapping out yourself. Plus it would help fund future purchases and projects. I was just curious if there was a reason why you have decided not to?
It will be done when it is done. Thank you for keeping us up to date. Wondering what kind of merch you could spin out. More to the point I'm wondering if there is a way for you to lend assets/consult with anyone doing a knight rider fan film. Would be cool to see all these things in a production again.
id advise doing all the cutting of unrequired brackets etc BEFORE the trailer is painted. then the underside can be rustproofed and sparks cannot damage paintwork either.
