  • After searching for over 15 years, we have FOUND the original, one-of-one screen used Dorsey trailer used in "Knight Rider" as the Foundation's mobile command center! Can we buy it and reunite it with the GMC General for the first time since 1986? Special thanks to Danny Nasiff for the transport!

    Not sure how many folks from the original cast are still around and available, but I think there ought to be a reunion of as many of them as possible for the first show where you pull up in the complete screen used semi rig and back a screen used KITT down the ramp. It truly is a colossal feat to bring all of this back together as you've managed to do.

    I must admit I was doubtful the screen-used FLAG semi trailer would be found. There was hope in my heart that it was still out there somewhere but realistically I felt the odds of locating a 44-year-old trailer were 3,720 to 1. Surely it had met its end in an auto wrecker yard years ago.
    So you can imagine my surprise when I saw the thumbnail for this video appear in my suggested viewing list. What I did not consider was the screen used Flag semi-trailer was not just some ordinary hollow wooden box trailer. It was a utility van similar to a motor coach. It had a practical use that could be modified which allowed it to find steady work after Knight Rider was cancelled. That's what saved it from the wrecking yard.
    Congratulations guys! Reuniting the screen used FLAG semi with the screen used trailer is simply epic beyond the realm of things that are possible in the real world yet two pieces of television history that have been separated for 36 years are now together again. Safely in the hands of the right people who will ensure they are restored to their on-screen glory. The moment will come when the screen used KITT is driven up the ramp and parked inside the trailer. It would be so beautiful if Jack Gill is there to witness it even better if he is the one performing the stunt.
    It would be a fitting end to this long journey.

      Frankly, I'm not as surprised. Seeing what rolls in and out of the parking lots of the warehouses of a few of my customers, as long as the ceiling doesn't rot through, they'll keep a trailer going until Doomsday. Being a west coast trailer, rain damage isn't as likely to happen.

    If I could have picked a person to help preserve Knight Rider history, I don't think I could have picked anywhere close to as good a person to do as this guy and any of his help he may have. Any of the material in your collection is in great hands and I find real comfort in that. Thanks for all the work you've put into this stuff.

    I'm in shock that you guys actually found it. I figured it was going to be in somebody's yard but not set up the way it was. Just the fact it's so hard to find 70s even '80s semi trailers that can even be moved anymore without tons of money being spent on getting bearings breaks and air systems to work. There's a lot of stuff in there you guys could sell at least get a couple bucks back I'm sure you already know. I just see if it all works within reason of course.

    HUGE respect for the years of dedication towards finding it! I used to attend all the Ohio shows back in the day and remember hearing that the semi definitely existed but at the time it was one of those pipe dreams. If anyone had the universe on their side in terms of finding the complete semi it is you guys. I too have the same drive when it comes to researching screen used props and love seeing details that tie a prop to specific scenes etc. so I appreciate all the time you’ve put into finding it and creating this extra special video (the opening credits are awesome btw). Couldn’t be happier that it is in your hands. Congrats!

    Joe I think there's a TV show in this....are there no TV companies interested who could get involved and make a TV show out of this? We have loads of restoration type shows like that here in the UK. I will donate but this is huge and a huge part of TV history. It deserves more recognition outside of here I feel. Great work...

    • @arrowguy173
      @arrowguy173 2 роки тому

      A great question - I think a production company would be the most interested if there were multiple TV/film vehicles out there that needed restored at the same time and and a show (with accompanying budget and funding) could be created, even if it’s a show with only a few episodes. It would be an ideal scenario if multiple iconic vehicles needed restoration, but I just don’t know if there really are that many that haven’t already been touched. The hero DeLorean for example would have been perfect for this kind of idea had it not been restored a few years ago. But there could always be an existing restoration show that understands the significance of finding the semi and included the restoration alongside whatever else they are featuring that season. The biggest problem would be finding a production that would allow Joe, Eric etc to remain in charge of the restoration as opposed to handing everything over to a shop that a show is already using. A few years ago there was a KITT built by Fast N Loud (I think) which I don’t remember doing KR justice (it was your typical drama-induced reality show) and worse was all the anti-KR comments from the typical viewers of those kind of shows.

    I never thought of the trailer being used for racing boats or drag cars but it seems like a natural progression after Knight Rider .
    It would be interesting if someone at the sodablasters took photos of it before blasting and just maybe they coincidentally find your channel.
    I'm honestly really happy for you and wish you all the best with its restoration..

    Unbelievable. I had my doubts that the trailer would ever be found but knew if anybody would ever find it it would be you guys. The only thing left to do after you get the semi all back together is to start filming new episodes of Knight Rider. I had no idea there was even a top section inside the trailer. After this is completed I'd say build a Goliath but it looks like after you get this semi finished you won't wanna even look at another 18 wheeler for a long time lol. And i thought putting a barbeque together was hard ! 😜👍

My Father worked there in the early 70’s and I have many friends, family, and neighbors who worked there during the time this trailer was built. It's absolutely unbelieveable that you managed to find it, by doing these awesome, detail packed videos! Currently the trailer looks so different and still the owner mangaged to identify it and contact you! I am aware, that huge vehicles like this are enormous restoration tasks, compared to a basic passenger car restoration, because everything is so large and heavy - but at least the trailer is in amazingly good shape for its age! So well kept by the interimistic owners! I love your plan to install actual props inside - after all in the series it was convincingly made believeable, so it makes sense. I can't tell how thankful I am, that a passionate and capable historian team like you got hold of thes iconic screen used props, to shed light on the series, the background work and the actual props.

There may be some other YT channels who might collaborate on some of the work you need. Diesel Creek, in Pennsylvania. Matt is huge on restoring heavy equipment and has the shop, skills and a ton of knowledge. JustTruckin, out of South Carolina. Justin drives a semi for a living and also restores and modifies cars, one of which is a TransAm. He knows a ton of people who work on the semis and trailers. No clue if they would be interested but this sort of thing is right up their alleys.
