I do the pony tail hack to create draping on my jersey maxi skirts, most often when I'm on vacation and want to create different looks from the same handful of pieces. I also bring the (elastic) waist of my maxi skirts over my bust and use a belt around my midsection to create a strapless, shorter dress with a blouson top, or step into the inside-out skirt with its waistband grazing my knees, belt it at the waist, and drop the hem over the belt to create an A-line midi skirt.
Thank you for this video. It's always fun to see new ways to wear "old" pieces.
Hi Alyssa! Thanks for a great video. So handy! I’ve a few other hacks. Shoe stretchers for shoes that are a bit too tight, necklace extenders to adjust the necklines, attaching a scarf & or a pearl necklace to add a new point of interest to handbags, wearing a t shirt over a high neck blouse to layer up.
Nike bought Cole Haan and changed the sizing. I bought two cute pair of fancy sneakers on clearance before figuring it out. They took the height out of the toebox. If your feet are shaped like a goose beak they’ll fit. Do you think a stretcher adds any vertical stretch there? Is a stretcher the same thing as the mechanical shoe form?
oh yes definitely those are great! The necklace extenders are great thanks for sharing! xx
All the belt hacks and the dress/shirt hack the best but all were good. The elastic front shirt sweater tuck is great too.
Thank you for these...love the elastics. Also, if you have an elastic that is in a similar shade to your belt...you can put it on the belt and bring it around until you reach the point where the excess (flapping ) portion of the belt is located. Just tuck the excess of the belt into the elastic.
Yes - another great hack thanks for sharing Lisa! xx
Wonderful Hacks. I tried the elastic band shirt tuck and the belted sweater this afternoon and they gave me options I'd been looking for with clothes I already have. Thanks Alyssa for keeping me happily satisfied with the clothes in my own closet.
I used to serve on the wknds and used the clear elastic front tuck trick b/c I didn’t have time to tuck/ untuck during dinner service. At the end of a busy night of running around, I noticed my “tshirt pony” was out for who knows how long. 😂😂 I wonder how many tables I served looking like that?! Still stand by this hack though!
ahahaha thanks for sharing - glad it's still a go-to for you! xx
Love the hack where you loop the belt back into the buckle. It looks so elegant and polished. We also love the sleeve ruching hack. Very useful for stopping the blazer being cumbersome. Thanks for these Alyssa xox
I"m so glad you liked those tricks! Thanks for watching! xx
LOVE the faux shirt tuck. I don't always like the tied-look with button ups shirts, so this one is my favorite.
I sometimes use the hairband on T-shirts and then tuck it under so it looks rouched on the side.
Thanks Alyssa.
So glad you found a trick you really like - great trick with tee shrits thanks for sharing! xx
Another great vid, Alyssa! At 5’3”, I have regularly used the maxi dress elastic hack. Not only does it change up the dress, it lets me wear different heel heights (wedges, flat sandals, etc.). I buy a bag of clear elastics each year and it seems to last 12 months. The other regular application of an elastic I use is to refresh hi-lo hem blouses. If you tuck up the “lo” back hem and then, pull the blouse forward and gather the fabric ponytail to the front or side and wrap the elastic. I love how a bit of manipulation gives us exponential options to our wardrobes. Your belt hacks are genius!
Love those hacks thank you so much for sharing! Thanks for watching xx
I really love that bright red and burgundy combo!
oh Alyssa, you are such a beautiful person! Physically, but also in your spirit. Your genuine, passionate energy shines through your face and you bless us all when you share it. I've been following you for over a year now and I find your content so helpful and applicable to my own fashion. I'm always excited to see what you come up with. And it's just extra awesome that you are Canadian! Thank you for all you do ⚘
Chloe thank you so much for this sweet and encouraging comment! It really means a lot that you continue to watch and I hope you continue to find the channel helpful! xx
Alyssa, thank you so much. Have some no sleeve dresses that I love but have lost some muscle on my arms, The tucked shirt hack will be fantastic ☘️
Hi Ruth! Glad you'll be able to keep making use out of those dresses! thanks for watching xx
Good tips, thank you. This winter I used the elastic band trick on the sleeves of a sweater that were driving me crazy and wouldn't stay up with a simple push and looked funny when I rolled them up. The band trick worked great and looked so nice!
Great point, that one also works well for sweaters! xx
Hi, there! Thanks for giving us a way to get more use out of our closets while we’re stuck at home. I hope you’re staying safe! Take care.
Thanks Chris, I figured now was a good time to practice those pesky tricks! Stay safe and have a great week xx
Alyssa, thanks! I use the ponytail hack to “add” texture to solid relaxed/oversized tops and also whenever I want to show just a sliver of skin at the midriff.
If you want to hide a muffin top, get a wide belt and put it around where it fits best over your pants and blouson out your shirt or sweater. You may need to fiddle with it to get it just right. This way you can create a waistline wherever you want and the blouson effect can cover any “rolls” and still make you look tidy.
Thank you for keeping me motivated to style it up during quarantine. It’s so easy to get lazy about it all when you are not socializing as much.
Great tips, Alyssa! Once again you're showing us it's not just what you wear but how you wear that creates chic style.
:) Thank you so much for the kind comment Patti, stay well xx
Great video. Some hacks I have used and forgot. I think the sweater tuck is one I will try this week!
yay! Glad it was a good refresher for you Kathy - thank you for watching! xx
Definitely will be putting these into play.
Your channel is truly inspirational to me! Not only is the content highly informative, your also a pleasure to listen to. After my third pregnancy I have now the chance to upgrade my wardrobe. Following your advice and shifting my perspective towards a more mindful consumtion has made me the happiest i've ever been with my Style! Keep up the brillant work!
oh wow what a compliment, that is why I started the channel - congratulations on your third baby! xx
Alyssa, favorite is the big loop belt...ic
Love that shirt -over-sheath trick. Have never seen that one. Draping a jacket on top looks terrific. I am off to try that one right now!
So glad you found some new tricks! Thanks for watching Mary! xx
I keep the clear hair bands on my longer belts in lieu of tape. Creates an extra belt loop wherever you need it
That sweater tuck trick was exactly what I needed! 🤯
Hair ties and belts are some of the best accessories to have in ones closet as proven by you today! Great video!
I'd get tired of double sided tape because it is humid and I move around a lot. However, you gave me the idea to stitch or even hot glue snaps on the inside of the belt.
OMG!!! Thank you Alyssa!!!! Such great hacks and ideas to use them!!! You never cease to impress and inspire me!!! Thank you!!!!
I'm so glad you found these helpful Mary thank you for watching! xx
Thanks Alyssa - I already use a few of these ideas but have gained several more
So glad there were some helpful ones in there for you Andrea, thank you for watching! xx
The dress with the shirt. Never thought of this 👏🏻. Stay well 🌟
The belt tips are simple and great! Thanks!
Another quietly informative vid thankyou, Alyssa Really nice to watch.👍🙂
The long loop belt is so 1980s. I remember it well :)
Thank you for watching! xx
'70s too for those of us old enough to have been there. 😃 It's also great to reuse belts after weight loss. I'm doing that now.
Wonderful tips.....big hugs - hope you are all safe in Ottawa....
When you went for the sweater tuck trick by tying the front, I got vivid flashbacks to middle school when I would tie baggy t-shirts in the back the same way, usually resulting in a little duck tail everywhere I went! Perhaps it's time to reintroduce the duck tail in a more mature fashion as you instructed 🙂Delightful video. Bravo!
Love this red + burgundy look on you!
Happy Sunday. .....some times I turn the blouse or top around and wear it backwards for a different neckline.....
Happy Sunday Francine , yes I love that trick too! Thank you for sharing! xx
Love these hacks! My favorite is the shirt over fitted dress hack. I’ll be trying that one soon. Working from home, but still trying to keep things normal so I’m dressing for my living office and cat co-worker by trying outfits change ups from my closet. Love your videos!
The belt hacks are so great - thank you so much for sharing it !!!

Thanks for watching Michele! xx
Learned a few new ones. Is there a way to get long scarves from coming undone when you tuck the edges? I seem to be the only one constantly fiddling with dangling ends that work their way out. Thanks for all your help. Help ful topic today.
Beautifully done❤🌻🌻🌻
Hi, Alyssa!!!! Can you believe it that you're almost at 85K? I knew it! And 100K is not too far away. Ok, so I was off by a few months, and it didn't happen by Christmas, but it's coming!!!👍😍And I couldn't be happier for you. That grey on grey first look was divine. I fell in love with grey tweed and cashmere combo this winter. So subtle and intricate their texture dialogue is. Thanks for all the amazing tips and tricks. Never tried wearing a dress under a shirt or a sweater. I think this is my year to give it a try🤣👌. Stay well and funny. We all love you and wish you well, and especially your family in Italy! 🙏🥰
Hi Natalya! You are so encouraging thank you and thank you for your sunshine-y comments! I agree i love the mix of those two rick textures. So far my family in Italy is well thank you so much for thinking of them and I hope you and your network are safe and well in Toronto these days! Have fun styling up your dress and shirt/sweater combos and stay safe xx

👍🏼 Great ideas 💕
Thank you for this video. It's especially enjoyable and useful while being home during the "shelter in place" order from our Governor. Trying these ideas in advance of getting back out there, sooner than later, God willing. Stay safe and healthy, Alyssa! 😊❤
Hi Alyssa! Love your styling hack videos! I noticed you didn't need to use the hole on your first belt--very handy. Stay safe & well!
Alyssa, je trouve an vidéo à propos de la braderie à Québec. C’est la premier fois que je te vois et écoute parler en français. Très contente de te voire. Bisous
This is very helpful
love it
Can you use the epastic band knot at the waist line to create the illusion of a wrapped dress?
hmm this is a great question ... i think it would have to be a much smaller knot so as not to stick out at the waist as that is usually a tighter part of a dress so you wouldn't be able to hide the knot as much as when it is at a voluminous part at the bottom of a dress/skirt ... worth a try though, just keep the knot small! :) hope this helps! xx
@@AlyssaBeltempo makes sense. And as that is the smallest part, we want to point that out. I will need to try
Your Amazing! Fab!
Great tips! Love all of them. Bonne semaine chère Alyssa! Bisous!
So glad you like them Jeannette I hope you are staying safe and well xx
Wow Alyssa! Are they the gorgeous earrings from Italy. They are amazing and look so beautiful on you. Great tips! Thanks..

Hi Alyssa! I just watched this video. I love your fashion hack ideas, could you do another one for summer clothes?
Thanks Alyssa. Great hacks. I especially like the belt ones. Stay safe! :-)
So glad you liked them thanks for watching Linda! xx
I like the ones over dresses! I wear a lot of dresses and my sweaters never seem to be the right length for layering
Alyssa great video, thank you. I'm working from home like so many just now and want to look polished and professional on video conference calls / meetings. Can you suggest any hacks or uses of wardrobe pieces that can tackle this new wardrobe situation so many of us find ourselves in?
Love the tips! Plz do a vlog or like a home tour haha
Brilliant.....
Happy Sunday, so nice to wake up to a new video from you. When I have an oversize sweater, I tuck the bottom of it into my band of my bra, I got this one from @kimxoxo from Kelowna. Stay in and stay safe.
Happy Sunday and thanks for the sweet comment - yes i've seen that hack too! Love it thanks for sharing! xx
