- Watch singer songwriter and former member of Little Mix, Leigh-Anne Pinnock discuss her new memoir, Believe, in this talk recorded at our 2023 London Literature Festival.
Speaking to author and advocate Chidera Eggerue, aka The Slumflower, in our Royal Festival Hall at an event that was also part of this year’s Black British Book Festival, Pinnock said of her memoir, ‘I’m so tired of doubting myself, I wanted to show how important it is to own your power and just take it, and that’s what I’m doing’.
In an engaging hour spent discussing her life so far Pinnock talks about her drive to become a pop star and how that helped her as she faced feelings of isolation and being unseen as the sole Black woman in the girl group Little Mix, and through the disorientating impact of sudden stardom that came from being catapulted into the limelight through television talent show The X Factor.
Pinnock also discusses the positive impact of her family and friends, and the support they have continued to offer throughout the many stages of career, as well as getting to a place where she can now feel real pride in her work, and prioritise self belief over external validation.

omg i was the one leigh anne sang happy bday to. tysm for uploading! it's great to relive the moment!
It's great to see Leigh-Anne shed the weight of things that got into her system and what affected her as a human.
Regardless of maybe not being as embraced as some of the group members, it was great, that the importance of living her dreams and aspirations still lead the way because that's the most important thing and the passion to improve and showcase her talent will always payoff.
Stay at it Leigh, there are trailblazers that have shown and proved that success come with hard work, dedication and passion.
The TALENT will shine because the skills are there.
THE MOST THING IS KNOWING YOU ARE ENOUGH!
What a heartwarming video! 🖤 I love that Leigh-Anne is now owning it and doing this for that little girl. As a black woman, it means the world, when she keeps talking about her experiences. You make us feel seen Leigh-Anne, and that is all that matters. Continue keeping your head high, and bossing it, I love you forever, and I'm always rooting for you. Love, Zee! 🖤
It's amazing how much growth Leigh-Anne has had! ❤
Loved this❤
The sweetest little bean
Dreamful ❤
❤❤❤
Why are there no views or comments
Probably because they didn’t promote this and no one knows about it. I just randomly now found it
@@lillylilly5714 only Leigh Anne herself promoted it through insta
@@lillylilly5714same I was looking for interview with Leigh Anne and didn’t find this one until scrolling down so many pages
Leighanne ❤❤❤..love u queen
🥺❤️
she is soooo insecure.. i would suggest for her to go to therapy because its clear that she is troubled by a lot of things .
I was thinking this same thing as well sounds like she wanted to go on a break/ or needs to be in deep solitude then she said her friends were there on her birthday in person and how it made her happy (sounds a bit like emotional support) .. That's when I thought nahh she needs to be "loved" if she got all the love in the world I'm pretty sure she wouldn't be this hurt plus the interviewer did an amazing job with touching bases of leigh-annes answers, clapping and cheering her on.
Hmm someone talking about their journey and experience, then saying how she is proud of herself now, translated to "insecured"..? Weird.
