    I have to say again that I love the fact that you don’t use store bought alternatives for chicken or heavy cream but make them yourself with cheapish and healthier ingredients. Thanks

    And i'm glad you introduced me to soy curls. I have them on monthly delivery from amazon because i make at least 2 recipes per month using them.

    Those with nut allergy use silken tofu with a few spoons of vegan yougurt or sour cream and blend untill smooth. I make this often and its cheaper than cashews. I wish I could eat cashews but this looks amazing

    This recipe is like a warm hug when you are cold.burger friend strikes again.
    although I wont be doing the dumplings next time, the base is very nice I think I just did the dumplings wrong, had to simmer it way more than 15 minutes for them to be eadible so the sauce was very thick by then, you learn.
    served with oven roasted vegetables was very nice

    Definitely making this tonight. Don't have soy curls, but I have a plant based chicken. I'm guessing the soy curls don't need to be cooked before hand, so I'm going to cook it first. Hopefully that doesn't overcook it. I also don't have nutritional yeast or mushroom seasoning, so I'm gonna improv some seasoning. And finally, I only have glazed cashews, so hopefully that's fine and won't change the taste too much.

    Hey I just found this channel and it's really lovely and has given me a non vegan a lot of ideas to at least reduce my meat consumption. However I got really disappointed when I noticed that you made a heavy cream alternative with cashews. As someone who is also allergic to tree nuts do you have any suggestions or alternatives to nuts in this recipe? I love chicken and dumplings and really want to try this out and reduce how much animal products I consume but it's so disheartening when so many of those options include essential ingredients I just can't eat. :(

  • @Michael-cv5wk

    I remember in one of your older videos you said you prefer to soak soy curls in water first then broth/marinade as it helps get rid of a funky flavor, but here and in one other recent video I notice you jump right to the broth. Is there anything that changed that made you decide to skip that step? Or maybe I'm getting things mixed up

    • @TheeBurgerDude
      @TheeBurgerDude  2 роки тому +3

      In some cases I cook the soy curls in a meaty broth and reduce it down so they soak up all the flavor. This will be more intense flavor than just rehydrating them in the broth so that’s why I just used water, since it’s a waste of broth. Since I’m not reducing them down in a broth in this video I used the stock so they taste better. Make sense?

    Question: how would you make this dish - or indeed any dish where you're cooking in a sauce - with seitan? I've made some delicious versions of chickwheat seitan, but that stuff sucks up liquid like a sponge and gets huge. Is there any way to modify a seitan recipe to keep it from taking in/retaining so much water?

    • @TheeBurgerDude
      @TheeBurgerDude  2 роки тому

      Are you talking about cooking the seitan in the broth the first time? Because precooked seitan shouldn’t expand in this recipe. I’ve never seen that happen!

    • @AxonMediaSeattle
      @AxonMediaSeattle 2 роки тому

      @@TheeBurgerDude I'm talking about cooking with it after the dough has been baked or steamed and then cooled in the fridge. I've tried putting those chickwheat shreds into chicken paprikash and a chicken pot pie recipe and both times they absorbed most of the sauce and increased in size (I could barely fit everything in the pie).

    • @TheeBurgerDude
      @TheeBurgerDude  2 роки тому

      That is odd I’ve never seen that. I suppose you could just fold them in at the end just to warm them up.
