I substitute mushrooms instead of adding the soycurles and I call it veggie dumplings. I do the same with my cottage veggie pie recipe 😋
totally so many things you can use in here!
Good idea I will try mushrooms as I’m allergic to soy
@@fritzkristjanson i always cover all allergy substitutions in the FAQ of my blog posts. I gave some alternative ideas there and discussed soy free tofu as well
What type of mushrooms do you use?
I agree with your BF. The more dumplings the better. I make mine with a cashew cream instead of making a roux and always add extra dumplings. Sometimes adding the dumplings thickens it up too.
Haha yes the more dumplings for sure! Another great way to do it with cashew cream!
This looks so yummy never in my life have I wanted to try chicken and dumplings but somehow you’ve changed my mind!! I’m definitely going to make this this winter 🤗🤗🤗
yay!! haha mission accomplished!!! gotta let me know how it goes!
🤤 can't wait to make this!
Yay i hope you enjoy!
Thanks for this recipe it looks lovely. 🍲
You are so welcome!
Love soy curls and love dumpling soups! My family makes a traditional Haitian soup with dumplings but they’re very dense. I love any version of dumplings so I’m excited to try this! I’m also in full support of boyfriend version #alllllldumplings 😂 heck yeah
Making this! The only thing I'm going to add is a tiny bit of cornstarch. Cornstarch can thicken liquids and also coat seasonings onto veggies. I use to have trouble in the past with veggie dishes that involve broth where the seasoning gets lost in broth and doesn't stick to veggies (then causes the veggies to taste bland) until I learned the cornstarch hack.
yes cornstarch is a great choice too! hope you enjoy!
Looks amazing 👏
Thank you so much Nellie!
Soy curls are available at many Asian grocery stores! I love them and use them often. This recipe looks delicious I’m going to have to try!
yes! also a good place to find them. thank you so much!
I am making this now because I had a hankering for some chicken & dumplings but I have no chicken 😕. I added some diced potatoes & frozen peas to mine. I also made some dumplings a while back that I froze so I just pulled those out & added, so good 😋!!
I just finished making this and Gurl, it’s so GOOD!
yay I am so glad you enjoyed it!!!
Looks good!😁
Thank you so much!!
I love making chik'n & dumplings! Such a great fall/winter (mostly 😂) one pot meal. I can't wait to try your version!
Though I can't believe I haven't made the version in your cookbook yet! I'll have to try that one, too. Also your boyfriend sounds similar to my husband. He wants alllll the dumplings 😂
it really is just the best for these cold seasons!! hahaha too funny. i know just a big old bowl of dumplings although i can't really blame them haah!
Looks so delicious!! Thanks Francesca!!❤
Looks delicious, it’s time to pull your cookbook out! ❤
yay!!! thank you so much! haha yes its definitely designed for comfort food season!
Oh yes! I am going to be making this soup, definitely. Thanks for sharing ❤
yay!!! you have to let me know how it goes
For gluten sensitive people, look into Einkorn wheat. It is an ancient wheat non-hybrid with a much lower gluten content than our modern hybridized wheat. I bake and cook with it and it does not bother my autoimmune disease. 😊
awesome to know, thanks for sharing!
I haven't had any since I've been vegan might have to try to make it
I hope you give it a try!
Funny the deli/market I work at sell those soy curls❤
hi Tammy! oh that is so awesome! yeah i feel like it is only smaller local places that sell them which is great but I know makes it harder for some people to find them!
This meal looks great and filling Francesca💕tfs😊
aw of course always my pleasure!!!
You handled that situation with such grace👍 I would have freaked out
haha thank you Suzanne!
Omg. All over this. Looks so delicious.
yesss its so good!!!
😋🤩😋
Thank you!
Yummy 👍😋
thank you
A wonderful, hearty recipe for colder weather, and I'm debating doing it per your boyfriend's preferences, because carby carbs are the best! But I do love carrots and celery stewed in a flavorful broth, on the other hand, so maybe I'll put Daring chicken on the shopping list . . . Thanks for posting : )
Hahaha i know it is a fun way to do it!! You do need some veggies in there i think he’ll give it some flavor for sure!!! Of course always my pleasure to share!
I like to add peas, reminds me of a chicken pot pie then.
Definitely lots of great things to add in!
@@PlantifullyBased I've never had success with dumplings, they are always gooey in the center. But you've inspired me, maybe keeping them small is key. (?)
@@sarahdee374 keep them a little smaller and also a big enough pot with enough liquid so they can float and boil
@@PlantifullyBased OK, you're my dumpling guru, I'm gonna give it another try! TX!!
@@sarahdee374 yay! Also don’t overmix the dough, let me know how it comes!
Hello this recipe looks so delicious! I was wondering what type of parsley you are using? There are so many different types of parsley with different flavors. I just want to make sure I am using the right one. Thank you so much!
Thank you! I’m using Italian but any kind will do whatever you like or have accessible! Can even just use dry parsley if it makes it easier :)
Thank you so much for responding! I really appreciate it! Sounds great! Have a great day! Keep up the great videos and recipes! :)
Thank you so much!!!
I was just wondering if you you've ever gotten any feedback on wether or not gluten free flour substitutes work? If not I'll probably still be giving this recipe a try!
You are welcome!! I haven’t yet I’m sorry but if you try please let me know!!
Will do!! Thank you again!
I’m weird and like them super dense, so I leave out the baking powder.
I’ve never used soy curls before. Does this dish taste like chicken n dumplings?
my non-vegan boyfriend loves it, so i would say yes! i actually never had chicken and dumplings prior to going vegan. soy curls are very easy to use just have to put them in the pot
@@PlantifullyBased I will have to try them if I ever get near a store that has them. I’m in the middle of nowhere, South Carolina.
@@beachgirl6565 Amazon sells soy curls. :)
So it's just dumplings...
