    I have so many fond memories of this route. My 1st attempt in 93 guiding a client that got altitude sick. Then climbed the whole thing in 98. The north section has an incredibly fun pitch that is best described as a breaking wave. The west side is easy slab where your feet are. Your hands are on the knife edge ridge, and the east side overhangs about 30-50 feet in a concave wave that drops away 600 feet to matthes lake.
    I then returned in 2015 and climbed the southern section with a friend who pulled me out of climbing retirement. Great job on the video. I'm glad the algorithm sent it to me.

    I've watched here and there for the past 4 years. At first it was more just the clean professional style that brought me back. But now it's the adventures too. It's so crazy to see how much progression there has been in your outdoor adventures since the beginning. What started as just some typical weekend warrior sport climbing, car camping and loop backpacking is now an alpinist channel. Pretty awesome, way to go you both!

      Ayyy! we’re just getting started!! Stay tuned for the next few videos. Gonna be less frequent but hopefully pretty mega! Thanks for being here though. It’s crazy to see how far we’ve come in just a few years. Really trying to keep pushing and create the best mountain adventure channel 🤘🏼

    Loved the video, and actually ran in to you guys coming off Cathedral in the rain! I cannot recommend enough using Roll N Locks while simuling as a safety piece for the leader. I had my 220lb follower slip on easy terrain in Squamish last week and didn't even feel a tug on the rope because I was putting one in every rope length. Stoked to see what you guys get up to in Cham!

    **When I hike with my Garmin, the first thing I do is send to "Test Service" before you leave home. This is under Utilities. This ensures that you have an active subscription because you never know if your subscription may be inactive due to an expired credit card or any other issue that might have caused your subscription to interrupt when it's billing cycle came due**

    Might seem like a stupid question, but how do you rappel down without leaving gear? Do you just put the rope over a suitable rock where the rope won't slide over the edge and the drag the rope down afterwards?

    • @codyandvictoria
      @codyandvictoria  3 місяці тому +2

      Depends on the route. Some routes have permanent bolts. This climb has “tat” - or accessory cord / webbing that is left behind. The cord is tied around a tree or rock or anything else stable and you lower off of that. A lot of times you can lower off of “tat” that was left behind by someone else but it’s always a good idea to inspect it to make sure it is not rotting or worn. If it is too worn, typically you would add your own and leave it behind. Good question!

    Is there anyway you guys can share the course you made on your watch to get there?
    I am creating my own course and I got myself to Budd Lake, but I’m not sure where to go from there
    I’m heading up there on Friday morning

    • @codyandvictoria
      @codyandvictoria  4 місяці тому +2

      We may not be able to get it uploaded before Friday but I’d recommend going almost all the way to Cathedral Peak then cut off the trail and go cross country towards Echo Peaks and around the right side of Echo. Once you get below echo it flattens out and there’s some grass with a faint climbers trail. Soon after you’ll arrive at the spot where Victoria stopped to talk about Matthes Crest in the video. From there you just B-Line it to the southern-most buttress.
