Got me in trouble watching this, was headed out to store with wife when I started this video. I just couldn't stop watching until done, she had to wait in car a whole 4mins. Beautiful!
Inspirational! Leon Block has a much simpler arrangement of Op 9 No. 2 in his "Chopin for the Guitar" for guitarists in their second year - it's fun to learn; not as expressive as this but good for the soul and designed for easy to intermediate players.
Just want you to know that this is not only my favorite song in the world but your performance is my favorite rendition in the world. I've watched this video probably 100 times over the past five years and now I have even gotten to use it in my thesis paper towards the neuroscience of emotion regarding music therapy and bimanual rhythmic practices. I thank you for your hard work and endless hours practicing it. You inspire me and I am immensely grateful. Rock on brother.
Here is a quote from my paper: "I find that a major reason for listening to sad music they (scientist on a case study about music-evoked sadness) missed is a sense of not being alone in self-perceived emotions. My personal favorite song in the world is Chopin’s Nocturne No. 2 in E-flat minor. The reason it is my favorite song is because I perceive it to capture a very complex emotion of bittersweet sadness towards the world with an almost predictive and exhausting reoccurrence of hope. A kind of dance between falling in love with life and being let down by it, yet never loosing the enjoyment of the dance. This complex emotion that is hard to put into words has very rarely ever been empathetically presented or reciprocated in my life, yet every time I hear this song that feeling seems to be captured perfectly. When I listen to the song I can finally relax a little part of my psyche because that part of my psyche containing this feeling no longer feels alone. It feels as if someone is finally being empathetic to that deep emotion I feel. I dream to play this song one day on guitar so that I too may provide empathy for those in need and this is my way to regulate the ability for empathy towards such a complex emotion." - Austin Lokey
The Arthur Rubenstein of guitar. His playing is sublime. He's not just playing the music... He has become the music. Transcendent! Thank you for sharing.
I LOVED this interpretation of the Chopin Nocturne. I listened to this several days after hearing about the death of Edie Van Halen. He loved classical guitar and so do I! Just beautiful playing!
Bogdan, the expression you gave to it, and the feeling you express playing this milestone of music history is beyond every possible compliment. Heart touching
A most beautiful piece Chopin wrote. It has a soothing effect upon the brain. I believe it may have healing attributes as it calms persons suffering with anxiety disorder.
Not many pieces for the piano translate to the guitar favorably. Bogdan brings a clarity and purity to the theme while keeping It fluid. I think this is a masterful presentation.
foarte frumos si romantic.... inchizi ochii si parca te vezi in salonul ala mare de dans plin de domnisoare cu rochii frumoase si gentelmeni plini de averi :))) bravo bobo :* succes in continuare
As for me this is the Best guitar version of this piano work. By far. He gets musicality. He sticks to the piano spirit.
