How does a $200 compound shoot - Junxing Pheonix target compound bow

  • The Junxing Pheonix is a 40" axle to Axle target bow, which has rotating module to adjust draw length 24-30.5". IBO 315fps.
We look at the bow shoot through a chronograph then shoot the bow at 18 meters to see how the bow shoots.
In Australia the Junxing Pheonix will retail $250. In US dollars it should be around the $170.

@@theamazinggoldfish8713 I disagree with you comment on the siege. It is plenty accurate out to 50 meters. It's not pleasant to shoot but absolutely reaches out. It's loud as shit because the cams are based on old tech. It's now bowtech but works like it's supposed to.

Just bought one, My first bow. Shoots amazing. Draw length settings easy to work out.
30.5 minus 24 and divide by 11. Add the result to 24 to give position 2 then add again for position 3 etc. It is a little less than half an inch per spot with 12 spots. Set the same top and bottom. Draw weight is another matter. I Just wound it down evenly on both sides until I could draw it consistently. In 3 days at 20 mtrs I was getting consistent good groupings and had never shot a bow before. Wish it had more instructions but a lot of info on the internet. Love your Vidios. Steve, you helped me decide which bow to get.

One year later and the Bow is still shooting as well as it was when I bought it Had to fit a couple of new d loops but that is par for the course, i have shot 1000's of arrows and on 18 meters i am now averaging 520-530 out of possible 600 in club comps and improving. (Covid put a bit of a dampener to practice but am getting back at it.)
Is it a great bow? I don't know as I have only owed and shot this bow but I keep up with people with more experience PSE/ Hoyts etc target bows and i don't think i am shooting as well as the bow can.
Have a look at Steve's reaction to shooting more expensive bows a compare to this one, His body language and appeared to be genuinely impressed. Quote " I'm shooting better with this bow than my target bow"
If you are starting in archery or want a target bow because it is a little more forgiving than a hunting bow for target shooting (i'm told) at the price it a no brainer and i am glad I saw Steve's review.

@@Steve-ei2vh Nice review and thank you for this. I have practiced with club based recurve bows but compounds spiked my interest. The best was adjustable draw length and poundage choices of compounds, keeping the price kind of less compared to recurve. Although both are different this one looks to be the best bet to start with decent practice.

@@ravinidadavolu Thank you for that, The Phoenix (also known as the M108) is 40 inch, axle to axle and this will give you good stability.
Much easier to shoot than a short Axle to axle hunting compound. They are easier to lug around the bush or up a tree but not as forgiving as a target bow. and the Phoenix is currently $200 au for the bow (no accessories) from Archery supplies or local ebay suppliers . so with cheap target sight. preferable a target archery one rather than a hunting sight, a Chinese drop down rest, I have one for over a year and it has never failed, and a release aid and some 10 dollar arrows. get the narrow ones with the right spline for the poundage and a 30 inch stabilizer and with a little practice you should be right to compete for about 300 odd au dollars. But what ever you get start the poundage with what you feel comfortable with and don't rush to increase. Your muscles need time to adjust and strengthen. i tried rushing and had to go backwoods after staining a shoulder muscle. but now after 12 months i am shooting with max poundage and the draw feels easy. don't be scared to approach the compound archers in your club for advise. they will be a world of information and help. and most importantly enjoy,

@@roborrock7945 The PSE Force Omen I think is one of the fastest bows made with a 33.5 inch axle to axle, but it is a hunting bow so not quite as forgiving as a 40Inch axle to axle target bow. if you are hunting then the PSE is the go (just wind down the poundage until you are comfortable and increase as your muscles adjust, ) If it is target shooting you want then the Phoenix is a great inexpensive option.

I recently bought 4 Junxing bows to evaluate and am i impressed with there quality and accuracy given the cheap price. I bought 2-NEW M107's off of eBay for $205 USD delivered and ordered a M106 and a M108 (Phoenix) from the factory in China for $325 USD delivered. I cannot find much fault with any of them. I have more than 40 years in archery and have shot them all, the high priced bows and the cheap junk. None of these 4 i bought are junk. none are "fast" bows but they are not slow either. For the price i am very pleased with them.
I will compete in the senior freestyle division with any of these 4 and be confident in my ability with them. I feel it all boils down to how you shoot the bow and how consistent you are with it. If you can afford a $1500-2000 bow then i am happy for you but to get into or stay in this sport these 3 different models (M106, 107 and 108) Junxing bows are worth the low price. I now have shot about a thousand arrows out of each one with no issues.

Seems like a blend between the Mathews Halon X comp (albeit in 40", with cast riser and no harmonic dampeners) and the Bowtech binary cam with two yokes. Usually people which chase high end flagship models won't seek this one, but for starters thinking on their first compound and guessing about Mission, Diamond or the cheaper models from PSE the mix between the looks (looks good, which is a surprise from chinese compounds) and affordability could make this one a big success.

    That Phoenix looks really nice My Jungxing m127 was a little ripper at 30'' a 2 a , so I imagine a 40'' would be smooooth as ? !
At 180 uk bux and 2 yrs of good use my jungxing is retired to the garage and on a summer evening you can let your mate have a go ! It never broke on a dry fire or a derail cos its not very sophisticated (like me 😉) And having a bow that is so adjustable lead me to getting a P.S.E , at bit of grease on the bearings and I bet that Phoenix will be solid for a long time .

Firstly its a dust seal not Fort Knox .get a pin and pop out the side wall it was only pressed in to begin with its bit harder with the metal side wall bearings but most bearings today use a rubbery plastic, it's so easy even you could do it !
Some people spray degreaser and brush the old grease out, I use WD40 then smear a bit of grease in to the bearing race and pop the side wall back on and it will more than last you while your new bearings are on order as long as the ball bearings don't have flat spots which means you ignored the squeaking for too long.
Secondly a 200 bux Chinese bow DOESN'T HAVE SEALED BALL OR ROLLER BEARINGS! They have phossy bronze bushes and I have turned up new ones and replaced them on my JM127 because I never bothered greasing them . I only put the comment up to help people but I guess some people need more help than others , stay lucky, don't hurt yourself with the pin and any problems take it to a shop !

It would also make a great 2nd hunting backup bow . When you drive hours to your hunting spot and 30 minutes into the woods if something happens to your bow you only want to have to go back to the truck to be able to keep hunting . At 10:26 you said you can shoot this bow with fingers .Not having a high letoff at the back end is a reason to be able to use fingers . The design of the cam valley depth that the string is in is the reason you don't want to use fingers . All cams made in the last 20 years cannot be used with fingers because of the width and depth of the cam string channel . Any lateral torque of the string produced by the fingers can cause the string to derail . You should know this . Even the Mathews NOCAM HTR Bow with perfectly round cams are not made for finger shooting because of the cam channel depth and width . By telling people the bow is safe to use fingers with is going to cause a lot of people to destroy their bows because of derailnent and you are on video promoting it . Not a good idea at all .

Tip for all..... you should NEVER shoot any bow without a wrist sling. Even a parallel limb bow. If you is do not have ahold of it, it can fall on the floor, so ALL bows should be shot with a sling.

From my personal hunting perspective FPS is overrated IMHO. I have taken many White Tails here in Michigan with a 45# Recurve shooting around 170 FPS with 450 Grain arrows.
I am sure the flatter trajectory becomes more important when shooting more than 30 meters which I can do easily but I have NEVER attempted to take one out more than 20 meters and RARELY encounter one at any greater distance.
They're either 300 meters out in a field or 20 meters ,due to the thick woods here.
I took one this year at 7 meters and it ran 10 meters. Beautiful late fall morning with a nearby creek to cool the meat, they just taste better when the hunt is all serendipitous like that.

    • @georgewashington1621
      @georgewashington1621 2 роки тому

What is that recurve you're talking about and what is your draw lenght? I have a cheap chinese compound and i get just 200 fps with a 485 grain arrow at 60 pounds draw weight with 28 inches draw length, if i can go to a 45lbs recurve and only lose 30 fps i'm ditching my chunk of metal with strings on wheels!
