Been searching for skills to add to my "kit"; this is the best video I have come across by far. Others put way too much superfluous talk, which distracts from what you have made a very straight-forward approach that is easy to adopt. Thank you.
Great video, I have watched others and am always left confused and overwhelmed with knot tying and too much chatter. This video taught me more in a few minutes than all the other videos combined regarding basic trapping. Very concise and teaching the way it should be done. Cheers mate.
Been wanting to learn a few basic survival skills and been binging bushcraft videos and wanted to find a snare video. 10/10. Very well explained but extrmely to the point and excellent demonstrations. Awesome!
Back in the day, I snared everything from sparrows with horsehair or fishing line, to roe deer with washing line rope. For rabbits I always found parachute chord was far more versatile than the traditional brass wire. You could cut the chord to length to suit whatever run you were snaring.
The first ones my favorite (Lock snare) and has caught me more rabbits than the others, but one of the tricks to trapping is multiple traps. Best to set 5+. That's 5 times the chance of a catch. Thanks for watching
On your Roller spring snare try hooking your cross member by the ends or turning the anchor/ground pegs so that the notches for the cross member face oppose directions. this makes the trigger more sensitive and easy to trip by an animal going both ways on the trail.
Very well demonstrated as always . 3 great trigger mechanisms and the tree branches are plenty large enough not to get what I call "memory" / lose their spring ability . Your videos are always awesome Andy . My best wishes to You and your loved ones . Lefty - Patrick
Thanks Patrick. Sorry for the late reply. Iv been away for a month and not had much time to log on. I hope your well brother. You to... peace and love to you and yours
Things are fairly ok . Been hittin the beer a bit too much , but ok for an old guy . Would love to see you make a video for the Bulgarian Board of Tourism . Your English speaking voice and awesome accent would be perfect + ... it would make you a few quid ... maybe quite a few . Just my opinion - Make a video and submit it to them . They will say yes or no . If they are smart , they will jump on it . The perfect job would be getting paid to travel around the country making videos promoting tourism , historical sites , architecture etc. "Bulgaria - The Enchanted Land " They provide the automobile , petrol and living / travel expenses + a salary . Enough of my weird ideas . Take care Brother .
Thanks Patrick. Make sure you take care of yourself brotha. I started drinking alot while I was in Bulgaria last year. Loneliness I think!? Alcohol can work as a depressant in most cases. I stick to having a few spliffs in the evenings nowadays. Less harmful and cheers me up, rather than depressing me like beer does. That's a great idea! Iv been spending alot of time in Bulgaria recently. Been back and forth four times in two months. Finally bought a house and land out there. I'd love to arrange something with the tourism board. Any extra income would come in handy when I finally move out there permantly. Thanks again for all the kind words and support my friend. It's muchly appreciated. Shame you live so far away. I'd love to go on a camp/ hunt and get to know you better. Your a good man. Stay safe, Andy
You're lucky, I nearly lost an ear setting one for a racoon. After trial and error it's easier to judge what not to use for the spring. Unless you're trying to catch Volkswagen it doesn't have to be that strong.
I just made a snare trap exactly as you've featured on the vid and it worked splendidly :D Thanks alot ! But unfortunately I caught our neighbors chicken. .. Lol busted !
Thanks Steve. Rats dont tend to fall for snare type traps. Your better off with a dead fall type trap for small rodents. I have a video on how to build a spring dead fall, but a more simpler four figure dead fall or a paiute deadfall will work jus a's good. Loads of videos on them hear on UA-cam. Thanks for watching brotha
coyotes ate all the rabbits - okay so now what i'm trying to make snares that work - well i know only one rabbit out in the woods its not even regular anymore less so what do i do in this case of one rabbit being around
Great vids brotha love them all. These are old school traps that I learned from my grand father decades. Ago. It's nice to see someone's still using them unfortunately I live in the city. An the only hunting an trapping I get to do is on giant rats lol
+Kyle Benzeno Cheers Kyle, I appreciate it brotha. Your Grandad sounds awesome!! These are very primitive little traps, and not too practical when put next to a wire snare, but still good knowledge to retain, just incase. Good luck with them monster rats lol.
Realy good man one of the best Not a bunch of blaablaaaa that takes away from the point Think some of these youtoobs just like to here there self talk it to death
awesome, i'll be trying this very soon. seen some tracks and trails, where i will try it. but first i'll need to get a better survival knife for cleaning my capture
UA-cam Wars, indeed. heavy well fed ones. would have been a good catch though if it didn't break. my father taught me how to do it when I was younger but in today's world of technology, I haven't done it in a long time.. I will be trying the second tactic.
No bait needed for a rabbit snare. There set on a rabbit run (trail) and when set correctly, they catch the rabbit around the neck as it hops into the snare. Iv recently posted a video on a baited net trap. It works in a very simular way to these spring type traps. Check it out if you get chance. Thanks for watching
+Addison Chandler Thanks Addison. This video was very early on with my channel, and I was a little hesitant about showing snared rabbits, but I'm over it now lol. Iv recently taken on two new pesting jobs. Planning a series of trapping videos... primitive + modern traps with a result at the end of each one. Cheers buddy Andy

Correct TXF .
Wow thanks for making the video not drawn out but still able to provide all the information! Unlike other channels.
Great video, I have watched others and am always left confused and overwhelmed with knot tying and too much chatter. This video taught me more in a few minutes than all the other videos combined regarding basic trapping. Very concise and teaching the way it should be done. Cheers mate.
These videos might save someone's life .. bravo 👏
Oh my god that's so cool! I understand the basic mechanism of how a snare works!
Finally someone who makes a quality informing video in a short amount of time. Thank you.

GREAT !!! You just made me look like a PRO~ I set the Lock Spring Snare. Super easy...thanks
This is a great video for intro to snares. I've watched countless videos, but they just left me more confused than before...
Very informative. To the point. No useless banter. Thank you. Going to try to trap this weekend.
Thanks Andrew. Glad you enjoyed it bro. I'm out trapping rabbits and squirrels over the next week. Let me know how it goes for you.
Cheers,
Andy
In my opinion nice and simple and they work , thanks from a fellow hunter 👌

Smashing video, thank you.
Thanks for watching Laura and for the no silly bollocks comment 😉💜
Nice, easy, simple and efficient. Excellent video.
which one works best? im thinking to go on a trial for three days in the wilderness.

Thanks for watching buddy

Smart humans have such an advantage over every other animal on this planet it’s not even a competition lol
Great video to learn from so thank you sir and I hope you were left with 3 plump rabbits for the stew pot😊

Thanks for watching brother
Great vid Buddy, I've got some rats in my composter can u use snare traps on them or are they too small?
Thanks Steve. Rats dont tend to fall for snare type traps. Your better off with a dead fall type trap for small rodents. I have a video on how to build a spring dead fall, but a more simpler four figure dead fall or a paiute deadfall will work jus a's good. Loads of videos on them hear on UA-cam.

Ryan Recollet nice I came to watch spring snare tutorial because my traditional snare wire got torn ... must have been big rabbits
UA-cam Wars, indeed. heavy well fed ones. would have been a good catch though if it didn't break. my father taught me how to do it when I was younger but in today's world of technology, I haven't done it in a long time.. I will be trying the second tactic.
