iMac and Android Studio with M1 support - how well it works? I’ve compared two iMac configurations with two MacBooks to see if it’s worth going with the iMac as a computer for Android development. My tests are in the video.
Android Emulator M1 Preview:
github.com/google/android-emu...
Testing SDK+NDK:
1. Get the repo: github.com/Javernaut/ffmpeg-a...
2. Fork it.
3. Then declare two variables in the terminal:
4. export ANDROID_SDK_HOME=absolute path to your Android SDK
5. export ANDROID_NDK_HOME=absolute path to your Android NDK
6. Trigger the compilation: ./ffmpeg-android-maker.sh -abis=arm
First try will take longer time because it will download the sources from the internet.
7. Once it’s done, trigger the compilation again and then you may start measuring.
Share your Mac configurations and compiling times in the comments please! - Наука та технологія
Great video
Nice Video. Is there any tips for runnig android faster in 2019 macs?
Do you think would mac mini m2 version would be great for Android development or should i upgrade ram or should I try m2 macpro?
Can you post a pic to community showing Android Studio and the emulator in split screen to give an idea of how much screen space is available to code and view the emulator simultaneously ?
Nice video!!! so 8GB won't be enough for android development right?
You can develop with 8gb, it’s possible but it will be slower. So if you buy for many years ahead, I’d go with 16Gb. And you won’t be blaming yourself that you took the lower version. :)
@@GeeksTable well, some time ago i had dell laptop with 8gb ram (intel i7-8650) and it ran android studio super fast, I just couldn't belive. Then I bought microsoft surface laptop with the same intel, and with 16gb RAM. It ran more than two times slower than old dell with android... So, RAM is not always crucial ;)
Hi, what version of android studio is compatible with m1?
Any version is compatible.
If you meant “optimised”, then this one:
Android Studio Arctic Fox | 2020.3.1 Canary 15
developer.android.com/studio/preview/index.html
@@GeeksTable thanks
good slavonic accent
I should’ve skipped the numerals 😅
