  • Hey everyone, Today I'm gonna forge Damascus Karambit Knife out of rusty leaf spring inspired by infamous Lucifer's Demon Dagger. Forging a Karambit knife blends ancient Damascus steel techniques with modern methods, creating a blade that honors centuries of tradition. Each hammer strike echoes the strength and beauty of Damascus steel, renowned for its sharpness and history. From ancient origins to today's craftsmanship, this blade represents the enduring legacy of warriors and skilled makers. Watch out the whole video you'll enjoy it.

First, I choose and cut the leaf spring into iron bars, then added 4340 iron strips, welding them together to create a solid foundation. With the raw materials prepared, I began the forging process, carefully shaping the metal with precise hammer strikes. To achieve the desired Damascus pattern, I meticulously twisted the iron, creating intricate designs that would enhance the beauty of the final blade. Once the Damascus pattern was achieved, I focused on refining the blade, meticulously hand-sanding it to ensure a razor-sharp edge.
With the blade perfected, I turned my attention to crafting the handle, using the same Damascus iron pieces to create a unique and cohesive design. Each piece was carefully shaped and assembled, ensuring a comfortable grip and seamless integration with the blade. Finally, I crafted a sheath out of pure leather, providing both protection and a stylish finishing touch to the completed Karambit knife.

A lot of money. My press was around 800 dollars but that is practically a steal price. My forge is 200. Anvil is around 150 to 2000 ( depending on the anvil. And the surface grinder is around 3.5 grand. Thea 2x72 belt grinder is around 1200 dollars to 2 grand.

To do the full workshop version of it? Hundreds to thousands
This can also be achieved with some coal in a pit in the ground, a hairdryer with a steel tube for bellows, a hammer and some files on a piece of heavy steel (as an anvil)
All for less than 100 quid
It will be a looot harder and won't look anywhere as good but it can still definitely be done 😊

Really nice work and great video. I love the design of it. I'll be honest. All these smiths with forging presses and surface grinders make me so jealous. I love making Damascus, but undertaking billets that size really does take a toll on your arms when done by hand. I tend to stick to small billets, typically just with 3 or 5 layers with high carbon in the core, and forge weld the pattern to it. Cable Damascus is one of my favorites to make because it gives a pattern that looks like snakeskin.
