People saying the comics were not originally woke. They were right. And that's when the comics were TRASH and generic. When the X-men turned "woke", it turned good. And that's when it was celebrated, until we entered the rage bait grift era.
Someone should tell Tyrone Magnus & his followers that if they watch 90’a X-Men season 1 episode 10 : Come The Apocalypse…the one with the Bubble Butt Rogue scene , every other time they show Rogue drawn from behind , including a scene where she is leaning over a pool table , playing pool with Gambit , she is as flat as the scene they are utilizing for the controversy…which to me means some cartoonist inserted the Bubble Butt scene to see if they could get away with it…check it out for yourself 🖖🏾

They don't care. These are people who would boycott Budweiser even though they don't even know what beer tastes like. It's all a performance, from low effort UA-camrs who don't have the talent to make actual content getting traffic from the MAGA crowd. Eventually Tyrone Magnus is going to realize that selling out wasn't worth it the day the leopards want to eat his face.
The overall arch of "Normal Humans" hating/fearing Mutants was the background driving point for them. No doubt this was inspired by racism in the real world. So they stayed true to this overall story-arch and didn't waver. And I'm fine with that. They picked an overall story-arch that is believable and ran with it for decades. They've been consistent with that at the very least. I've loved the X-Men for years. The woke nonsense came when in the books, they decided to make Iceman gay for the sake of representation. If you want representation, make a new character and develop them. But when they started changing existing characters with literally decades of background, that is where it became stupid. In the MCU, they had to drastically alter Captain Marvel to make her the strongest character. Even as Binary, Carol Danvers was never that powerful. Certainly not stronger than Hulk or Thor. But hey, we have to show women as being strong to cater to that crowd.
Tru thats a big issue with comics as a whole in my opinion. Instead of making a new character, they just change a pre-existing one to fit that vision. The only time it bothered me was with Carol Danvers. Most of the time I just see it as pretty lame.
Xmen always had these political themes, but modern writers have a certain way of presenting them that treats viewers like children. A lot of new projects in entertainment feel like PSA's more than a story people wanted to tell. I blame hollywood setting the standard pay for a writer at a single mcchicken.
@@ZolPsyko it pops up a lot in disney projects (who now own xmen I believe) with one of the most egregious being in the latest Ant Man where science man who's name I don't recall says "There's a lot we can learn from the ants" or a line almost exactly like that when referring to socialism imbued ants. @IDE425 they Wanda's power levels in Dr. Strange 2, comparable to her peak power levels in the comics. Is that really "girl power" and "feminism"? I think everyone that screams "woke" is just looking for it everywhere they look and to be honest, are a little extra sensitive about it.

I think diversity is a great thing, everyone should be represented. The only thing I fear is that they had to state that “Morph will have an interesting buddy relationship with Wolverine.” Everyone that watched the original knew Morph and Wolverine had a good friendship, I don’t think the outrage is for morph being non binary but more so with the possibility that they will change the sexual orientation of a main character just to push an agenda.
You can't be a fan of the X-Men and at the same time try to gatekeep any kind of inclusivity. When you do that you sound just like the angry mob and the friends of humanity.
Exactly. Fans who have never watched the old cartoon or never read a comic don’t realize the x-men have characters who like morph can become anything person or creature doesn’t mean he is nonbinary, it’s just his ability, or that yes they did fight racism and oppression. In agreeing with your point, why do nonfans always have the loudest voice.

It was never "woke" or about Social justice. Listen to Stan Lee's interview regarding the X-Men and also interviews with Chris Claremont. There are correlations and that's fine, but it wasn't the intent of the creators.
@omegasupreme21 No they weren't. Stan Lee himself said the civil rights movement was " the furthest thing from his mind". It was written in a way that anyone could relate to it without a bunch of modern leftwing preacy bullshit. Black folks don't have a monopoly on oppression.
Never said it didn't have strong correlations, I think it does. My source is from, as stated before, Stan Lee himself, who said, "I had my team but who were they going to fight. I figured it would be fun if these mutants were good but they were also a group of evil mutants who either wanted to take over the world or something similar. Then I thought it might be fun to get an analogy with the way some people are picked on by bigots and are persecuted by bigots. I thought here are characters who are going to look different, who are going to have certain strange powers. What if the human race is afraid of them, hates them, and prosecutes them, torments them. What if the evil mutants resent the fact that the human race doesn't trust them and they want to strike back and they feel they are homo superior as opposed to the human being or homo sapiens. However the good mutants feel we've got to learn to coexist with the human race, we've got to help them and show them that they're wrong about distrusting people who are different than they are. And suddenly I became really facinated by this because I could see there was such a parallel between things that were happening in society and these stories that we were trying to write." So yes, there are parallels and it can reflect it. But it was not the intent of creation. Likewise, Malcom X being likened to Magneto, the leader of the evil mutants, is not accurate because Malcom X was not evil, nor was he a mass murderer. As for Claremont, he said, "There's a lot of talk online now that Magneto stands for Malcom X and Xavier stands in for Martin Luther King...but for me, being an immagrant white, to make that analogy felt incredibly presumptuous. An equivalent anaolgy could be made to Menachem Begin as Magneto, evolving through his lofe from a terrorist in 1947 to a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize 30 years later."
