MABDR CannonBall Run 500 miles off road in 20 hours!
leaving alot on the table can start higher rpm and shift bit later can squeeze 4 out of it easily
For sure
I used to own a ninja 300 around 6 years ago...now I'm torn between the 650 and the 500 se , price is almost the same and I already have some experience, going to the 500 feels like going to the same bike I used to have, but since I have a bit more experience despite not being riding for a few years..Would the 650 be a good choice over the 500?
The 650 is a heck of a bike!
just order some off cycle gear for my Honda NC700X; installed yesterday; felt good; waiting for the weekend for a nice PCH ride: paid under 200 for them and about 120 to install them at my local Del Ammo dealer; i ride about 14 miles daily so I wanted some inexpensive tires to try out; could not justify the $250 to $280 per tire this time around; but I intend to get better tires next time should these tires give me less than expected performance or low lifespan. thank you for the video....
I think you’ll be pleased :) I’ve put 3000 miles on them and I’m impressed. Thanks for watching!
Post purchase: Be ready and willing to replace all fluids, break pads, chain, sprockets, spark plug, tires (tubes), and battery. Check fork oil
100% thanks for watching:)
Jeeps also fly around the corner. I almost got hit head on in Anza Berago Jeep Trail
Love the sound of that thumper mixed with the riders excitement
Great video!!! I am thinking of getting a 2024 ninja 650 for highway commuting (75 to 85mph) for at least an hour. So, according to the vid, this 650 can do that, right? I never had a 650cc bike before. Someone please let me know...
For sure it would do that no problem :)
I got a 2012 ninja 650 I take it from NY to Pa once a week and pin it at 100mph for a good 30min sometimes…..I had it up to 128mph for 10min straight. It just eats gas fast when having it that high mph for that long but it not only handles it, but handles it well
@@Brian-bv5fd thanks, I feel more confident about getting it now.
I have driven one but I would never drive one in a state that required a helmet. It seems so ridiculous. Edit: I rented one in Vegas. I was on a bridge that had seams. Was going about 70 and almost hit the wall because the thing caught a little air on the drive tire. I would rather have a Shelby Cobra or a Caterham.
Yeah the helmet laws in my state aren’t lax. Catching air in a sling shot was probably an experience lol
3 things Don’t Buy One
In that order?
Currently own a 22 klr and looking for something smaller lighter and easier to ride to add to the stable. Considering a 500 and 650, any thoughts? Also how is the power and torque compared to the klr? I know they’re totally different bikes but That’s all I have to compare anything to as the klr is my first and only bike
I'll bet those are "fun" if you come across an alligator meandering across the road!
I guess, you can’t miss… lol thanks for watching!
Look at you physically; you don't appear to know much about excitement; except from a fat girl
For the same price you can get a convertible corvette or mustang that's faster and has heat, a/c, and a roof if you get stuck in the rain.
U can get a Viper for the same money lol
Totally different experience.
It does a 14 second quarter mile and a 5 sec to 60. Thats slow af. Everyday vehicles are faster than that.
Cars are getting faster and faster these days. 5 seconds to 60 is a just enough to make the slingshot fun I think. Thanks for watching!
@@klrshthead2906 Guy probably does not have a sub 5 second car anyway.
I drove two of these and they’re a joke
Hey if the wife won’t get in a bike it’s not a bad option :) thanks for watching!
Indian dealer in Daytona you can buy them for half that price all day,
Nice! That’s more reasonable for sure. Thanks for watching :)
Bullshit.
Do MMT next.
I’m not familiar send me a link!
The first thing you should know is that if you purchase a Slingshot that you are personal finance moron. The next thing you'll find out if is it not a car and not a motorcycle so the only people that will hang out with you are other financially illiterate morons that also bought a Polaris Slingshot.
To each their own! Thanks for watching :)
Did you just compare a Slingshot to an F1 car??? Wow!
Haha listen for most overweight American dudes… it’s as close as we are gonna get! Thanks for watching :)
@@klrshthead2906 True
Yes he did; stupidly
I have Dunlap road smart 3 for my kawasaki concours 14 and they are awesome, I get 7 to 10k miles out-of them and I have taken the bike on the track and were great, I getbthem cheap, curious about the kenda km1
Put about 2000 miles on them commuting to work they are holding up well
Maybe it's difficult for you ..
What’s that?
haven't you heard of the university youtube! they teach you everything! LOL!
When it comes to wheels and tires I leave that to the professionals. Thanks for watching!
timing belt shouldn't even make your list, because if that was a issue, than yo could put cars into that mix! just got to know what that manufacture says about changing your timing belt every so many miles! plus I check the prices on tires! no where the price you quoted on $600.00 bills! $200.00 in change tops?
Thanks for watching! I would put cars in that mix if left unattended timing belts and or chains can be a point of catastrophic failure. A decent set of tires will run you about $400 and if you can even find a shop willing to work on a vintage Wing you will pay at least $150 to install.
This could have been a 2 min video
Nice, so you got 7 extra minutes to chill with your boy! Th and for watching
That wise man who you mentioned...could it be Jeremy Clarkson?
Who doesn’t love TopGear
How can it get out of time? If it uses a timing belt it should be replaced at regular intervals. If it has timing gears ⚙️ or chain ⛓️ it should last the life of the bike.
Yessir it “should” be replaced at regular intervals but you know as well as I do that should is a subjective term. Thanks for watching!
Retread rider here sharing with you that my old GL choice was/is a 1998 Gold Wing Valkyrie. In so many ways it's the "naked" version or the fulfillment of the M-1 Gold Wing prototype. And like the O.G. GL1000 series, it has virtually none of the features and standard equipment that came with it's stable mate, the GL1500; no cruise; no ABS/LBS; no self canceling or 4-way flashers; no reverse (except export to Japan model!?) Heck, the Valkyrie doesn't even come equipped with a center stand! Another important feature of the Valkyrie GL-series, that distinguishes it from the Gold Wing, is that it didn't have all that plastic bodywork! When it comes to a turn-key riding & ownership experience, the Gold Wing is in a class all by itself. Enjoyed your video and thanks for posting it.
Anything with a flat Honda motor in it kicks butt! Thanks for watching and I enjoyed reading your comment :)
Started on a r3 and just moved up to a ninja 650. It's amazing! And so much more powerful than the r3 yet still almost as flickable. Super fun bike!
Glad to hear it! Ride safe:)
What gear did you end up in? 2nd?
How does the change in the windshield angle affect fuel efficiency?
Not noticeably. Only thing I’ve noticed change efficiency in a big way was not cleaning my air filter after riding dirt for awhile. It looking like a slice of chocolate cake. Thanks for watching!
Just bought a new 23!
Heck yeah!
i find these 80s goldwings far easier than harleys having had a few myself and just this year getting into my first gl1200
I think they are much better made machines especially in the 80’s. Thanks for watching!
It appears that your a bigger / taller guy. I am 6"03" - 275 lbs. Do you think the Kawy Ninja 650 will be enough for a bigger guy? I am not looking for a speed demon, but it needs to get up and go.
I’m 6 feet 280 so yes I don’t think you’ll have any issues. Thanks for watching!
All right, I'll bite.... (Subbed) I've owned both a 2006 and a 2008 (Current KLR) and my #1 is improved front brakes. The Gen 1 brakes are downright scary, and the Gen 2's are improved but can still use some improvement. My #1 is a 320mm rotor, new stainless brake lines and HH Pads (DP Brakes are my fav). My #2, and will wake any KLR right up, is carb mods. The $0.22 cent mod is super cheap and helps a lot. The full blown KLX Needle and rejet works the best but it's more expensive. My #3 would be a tie between an improved skid plate or foot pegs. Good footpegs on Amazon are around $40 bucks to your door. They are quite as nice as yours but they work well. Skid plates are quite a bit more than that. Honorable mentions include the doohickey change on gen 1's (Im undecided on gen 2's) and Thermo-Bob (Or copies) installation.
There are a bunch of good mods. I agree with brakes. Thanks for watching and the sub!
H ell yeah brother [neutron bomb]
Thanks for watching!
I bought a 1980 naked wing with 25k miles on Good Friday 2023. It had been parked up in a garagefor a very long time. No problem, im a mechanic and have restored several vintage motorcycles in the last 25 years, including a 78 Wing. The previous owner of the 80 had traded it in, as-is for something brand new at a Kawasaki dealership. Thats where i bought it from. They had installed a new battery and new tires and brakes, but didn't get it running. It looked all clean and complete so i bought it for a reasonable price because they wanted it gone. They told me the carbs were likely gummed up. NOPE! Carbs had been drained and were pretty clean. However they were way out of sync, and the valves were out of adjustment limits. Also had one bad coil and very chopped up wiring harness ( why, just why do people eff up the wiring !?) I've sorted out all the wiring, installed new timing belts and tensioner pulleys, changed fluids and filters, adjusted everything, etc. The engine is actually quite healthy and sounds really good. The forks are not holding air now and its not safe to ride once all the air leaks out in 20 minutes. I'm eliminating the air assist and installing progressive springs asap. It turns out there was a lot more wrong with the bike than appearance indicated. So after saying all this, i recommend NOT buying an old Wing unless it's currently in good running condition, or do you actually want a bunch of time consuming work?
I agree completely. These things can be awesome if well maintained for there whole life. Thanks for watching!
I just bought mine on April 23, 2024. I am looking forward to the trails!!!
Nice my dude ride safe!
I wish mine was like that
What’s one you riding?
buy a naked like my 1100 standard, maintainence is easy, no fairings or saddlebags to be removed
First one I bought was a 1980 GL1100 naked bike. But I wanted all the fairings and storage !
I have an 86. It is reliable as heck. Have to ride or start it every other week to keeps the idle jets clear and clean. Everything is well designed. Made in America. Have done all the service on everything myself. Almost consider it a hobby so time doesn't matter. Cruises at 70 all day long. It will dust 95% of modern motorcycles.
Rock and roll my dude. Thanks for watching!
Excellent video! I am going to pick up a 1986 Aspencade this weekend. I plan to use it for my daily commute, which is about 40 miles each way & goes through the Occonee National Forest. I may do a video on it if anyone is interested...
Who cares if anyone is interested. Make the video for sure! Thanks for watching.
but the best part about those bikes it saves your arms shoulder and back and neck
I absolutely love my 1250GSA. See y’all in Redmond and Sturgis.
It’s a hell of a bike
I haven't been on a bike in over 20 years, this is the bike I'm looking at getting. Under 9k for a 24
Heck yeah a serious steal for that price. Ride safe and thanks for watching!
@klrshthead2906 I went to a local dealer today and checked out a Ninja 650. He has some of the gear I want too. He has the helmet I want, $150.00. That's nothing when it comes to my safety, cheap in my opinion
Currently a learner waiting till I'm 24 so I can get a full licence to get one of these things
Awesome! Thanks for watching and ride safe :)
Oh man, I would love a better look at the stereo setup on yours- looks super clean and something I’ve been wanting to do. Just bought mine a few weeks ago. Guy was the original owner since ‘86! It is CLEAN! I’m stoked
Nice! Mine is a regular old Sony head unit. I had it install professionally and they used some kind of plastic liner to fill in the gaps.
I found my diamond in the ruff this last weekend. It was a customer of mine hes unfortunately getting too old to ride. He has also kept meticulous records and I've gotten to know him over the years. He sold me a 95 goldwing for only $1200. I felt really bad paying that i tried SO HARD to pay more but he just wanted to know that it was going somewhere it was going to be taken care of. I have to get front a rear tire as they r dry rotten, oil change, tune up little stuff. But this bike looks like he drove it off the lot yesterday! I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER!!!
That’s how it worked for me too. The guy I bought it off couldn’t ride anymore and moved on to a GW trike. Boy oh boy did he take care of his wing!
You never said what year bike it is
1985. Thanks for watching!
Whoa so it’s not just my horn on the klr .. I think I hat should be an upgrade mentioned as well bc the horn on the bike is not very audible in comparison to others.
It’s not the loudest horn lol. Thanks for watching!
Does it make a good monstrous sound??coz it looks kind of tame and silent
It’s not very loud. Thanks for watching
