This is my favourite dynamic microphone. The SE Electronics mic is a great value option with a pretty extended frequency response for a dynamic.
Because it has such a good range, it is ideal for those rooms that have reverb going on since it is a super cardioid mic as well and due to the fact that it's a dynamic means that it will tend to reject external noise pretty well.
My front room isn't great for sound, but this mic does really well in it. Well worth having in the bag!! - Навчання та стиль
This is an awesome dynamic microphone. Cheap to buy and ideal for doing voice recording in a less than ideal room. SE Electronics make some great microphones and next time, I’ll do another of them with a 1000 sub birthday recording of me playing the piano!!! ;)
I’ll try and juggle at the same time.
Any significant difference between the v7 and v7x?
The V7x has a more extended frequency response, although for voice, it may be theoretical. I haven’t directly compared, but the V7 is used by a lot of singers on stage. The 7x is perhaps a little more open up top. Then again, if it isn’t then there’s nothing lost or gained. The FR graphs for them do show different characteristics at the extremes.
I really like the increased responsiveness I get with my V7 and have started using both pop filters together to tame plosives. I put the black one over the outside of the screen and just use a rubber band to secure it. It's a little trick I learned from another UA-cam channel.
The V7 and 7x are both great dynamics. I’ve even used them outdoors with a fluffy windscreen!
Yes!!!!! 1000 subs!!! Well freakin done!!!! Mic sounds awesome man!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Can’t believe that 1000 people subscribed to ‘mini me!’ This is my favourite dynamic and they’re really cheap. Have a case of them.....
Thanks so much for the great content on this mic
Excellent job with this review. I've been looking for someone just talking into the damn thing so I can get a good bearing on the tone. All very accurate info, top work!!
Thanks Dom. So many people want to be told what to use, but it helps to just use your own ears!
Congratulations on 1000 subscribers. You deserve more and will get more if you continue with your informative reviews.
Thank you. I’m really chuffed over it.
Well done Ian. Keep up the good work and congratulations. I subbed some time ago when I realised your reviews are really good quality. Thank you.
Thank YOU for watching and subscribing. I’m over the moon about hitting 1000 from my front room!!!
Great vid as always! I never buy a microphone without checking your channel first! Thank you
Thank you so much. However, I would also listen to other videos too. So much depends on room acoustic and voice type. (Although I know that some don’t think that matters with a mic)
My channel isn’t about sitting in a booth or studio to demonstrate a mic. It’s to show mics working in an environment that most of us with normal homes have! Anyone can sit in a treated room or booth and get perfect sound every time. However, real life videos just ain’t like that!!
Nice one Ian. Congrats on reaching a thousand subs. Roll on 5K. Take care.
Thank you Michael. I’m delighted because it’s been quite a slow progression for me to get here. Really perked me up!!
I love it that you matched your cable with the mic's red windscreen. I did the same. :D
I'm such a tart eh? ; )
I love your shirt, SIr. They way you explained things is very commendable and easy to understand for a noob like me. We in Pakistan do not have SE electronics mics but I would love to buy one. The silver version of it.
Lol. I only wear those shirts because they don’t need ironing! Pure laziness on my part….
Great review! 🔥🎤 I will definetly try it when I get a chance.
It is a really nice dynamic for sure.
Congrats on the 1000 subs👍👏👏👏
Thanks Jon.
Excelente review my friend. Me suscribo. Gracias
Muchas gracias Diego. Me gusta mucho que el video fue útil a usted.
Congratulations on reaching 1000 subs.
Thanks Peter. I think that it would be fine for streaming. As long as you like the sound of a mic, then it will work for you. I really like the V7x a lot and it compares really well with more expensive options. You need a good preamp with dynamics.
Billie and Finneas Eilish use the V7 on their tours. I think they agree with you on how good these SE mics are. SE is doing a great job with their mics. The V7 is a Shure killer.
I’m a retired musician and I think that many musicians choose their mics on gut instinct and don’t get too bogged down with facts and figures. For them, what comes out of the PA counts more than anything. If they find better, they move on. In many cases, that happened to the Shure sm58 with it being replaced by a V7.
Congrats Ian with 1000 subs. You really deserved to get to that point. I think a lot you'll gain a lot of more (European) subs over the years.
Thank you. I’m really surprised to have hit 1000 tbh, sitting here in my front room and taking walks!!
@@iancraig You give good reviews on (cheap) microphones and other equipment which are all available and easy accessible in Europe.
It sounds phenomical.
It’s a brilliant dynamic mic. I use it quite a lot.
Hi Ian. Thanks for the video. This is an awesome microphone, and I am wondering if sE V7x is still your favorite now.
It’s one of my favourites. My most useful dynamic mic at the moment is one made by a company called Sontronics and is called the Solo.
It has a very high output for a dynamic microphone and sounds absolutely brilliant. Here is a link to a video I made about it….

Have you tried the RE20? I recently compared about a dozen dynamic mics, including the V7x, and I still haven't found one that beats the RE20. The KSM8 comes second but first in $$$.
No, I haven’t. I’d like to. Be good to compare with this one.
We used Shure SM58s as our standard for years and years. No hiss. No feedback or anything. Except for Bill Hanley stealing one back in the 1970s from a Jackie Lomax concert, there were no problems. I need new mikes after so many years of down time (illness), I need new ones. I've only used monitors for big concerts. Most of us Folksingers don't use 'em. (Neodynium: Neo-Din-ium). 70 quid? Yikes!
The V7x has a little more treble bite than the Shure. I used the Shures for a very long time on stage so it feels kind of strange to swap to the SE but it is pretty good in all honesty. I’ve seen quite a few well known musicians using them live too over the past year or so.
Hi. Is it a good microphone for podcasting? I need a dynamic microphone with a little dark tone.
Hi. Yes, I think it’s ideal.
Can you make a Video about these 2 Mic ?
I meant V7 & V7x
Ok
have you try sennheiser e 945
Sorry, I haven’t.
Hi you think it’s better than Senheisser e935? With my budget of $100, I can only buy one good one 😂
That’s a difficult one! The E935 has a pretty strong top end where the V7 also has a boost but more subtle. It will probably depend on your voice and how ‘S’ and ‘T’s’ are. The Sennheiser might accent sibilance a little more.
I’d be hard pushed to choose between them if I’m honest.
@@iancraig Thanks! How about between this SE7x vs Shure Beta 58a? Which do you think is good for both live and untreated room recordings? Sorry to ask as my budget only allows me to get either one best within Se7 competition. Thanks!
I’m really sorry, but I’ve never used the Beta 58a. The Se7x has a great bass end which may be greater than the 58a. Compared to the Shure SM58, the SE7x has more at either end. (In the treble and bass) It extends furthe so I guess this would be the case with the Beta 58a.
Both would be good in an untreated room because they are dynamics, except the 7x is a super cardioid and the Shure a cardioid.
@@iancraig Thanks! I ended up getting a Senheisser e935. Hasn’t arrived. But will really keep eye on SE V7x, I like the looks & good reviews. Maybe next time I’ll get this too.
What about the V7 ?
