- New DeWALT XR Concrete Nailer (YOU BETTER THINK TWICE!) In this video we compare the new DeWALT 20V MAX XR Concrete Nailer against the Ramset Trakfast cordless nailer that is gas powered. This video will make you think twice about buying a gas powered nailer over the new DeWALT XR because the DeWALT is quieter and faster! Let us know your thoughts on the new DeWALT XR concrete nailer and who makes you favorite nailer in the comments section below.

Yo Vince great video. Love em keep the videos coming love watching them you guys do great work
When it comes to tool evaluation...you guys set the bar...awesomely informative
Thanks, we appreciate it!
Good to see you and all the " very cool gang" with you. Good video congrats for the 200+k subscribers, you are more viral than the Corona. Take care, be 💪 and keep your health!
Helpful comparison, Thanks guys.
Another great video presentation! Great job! 👍🧰👍
It's hard not to like this video after watching :)
Great job guys! Thank you.
Great video! Thx for sharing looks like a great tool
I like your Fast Track Vince.
I need to upgrade LOL !!!! I wish this stuff existed 25 years ago.
I don't do a lot of concrete pinning, but when I do I am still using 22 caliber Ram caps. It's a bit way to old school, but it gets are done.
For a couple.. maybe.. but when you have over ?30?.. it sucks.
I use my old shit blast for longer nails and only a short qty. Ears and arms suffer. Lol
Just a quick question. I see you clip the ears of the track and use a blade to score and snap after it's nailed in place... Why not before it's nailed down. Just my preferred procedure. Always clip the ears and use a square and razor and a few bends back and forth to snap it. Especially with light gauge.
great vid again a question the glue you are using is it for the same reason that you would glue the treads on a staircase noise reduction, hope its not a stupid question ,im not in construction ,cork taxi driver colin keep up the great vids guys making these dreadful times easier thanks again
I'd love to see a comparison between the Ramset that can take the cartridge strips vs those two setting in steel.
What cuality Vince,I congratulate you
Great video guys keep up the awesome work🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
9 months later, which product is your team using more of? The dewalt or the trackfast?
Great video!!!!!💥
is this the same application you use like a ramset or hilti gunpowder gun for?
edit: forgot to add, thanks for the video
Good vibes man 👍👍👍
How is it in connecting wood to concrete like wood bottom plate for framing
Good video Vince
Congrats on 200k
Thanks Cuz!
I wonder what's the price difference between the two.
Hilti for me,I worked with a friend who had a DeWalt and could it not finish the nail properly every time.he took it back and bought a paslode.
home depot is going to have a spring black friday event 4/16/20 saw the lables on all the skids that came inthe store.
The Dewalt rep in Denver told me there gun shoots at 95 joules the gas shoot at 100 and 27 cal red loads shoot at 105 joules. This week I'll be shooting down 400 ft of c channel for 2 5 plexes it's been flawless for me. I noticed yours came with the big magazine that was the 890 now they have the 891 it comes with the small magazine and you have to buy the big one. My understanding is they made changes on the 891 mine has never misfired.
Let us know how you make out this week!
How does Milwaukee compare to these two ?
been using the trakfast for years. i do still want that dewalt for the convenience of just using the batteries i already have. just need the extra cash to get it
In my opinion it’ll be a worthy investment!!
Hilti's trackfast is the best in my opinion. Just need gas cartridges only. Has a built in battery. You buy a certain amount of pins from Hilti and they give you the gun. You use those pins up and reorder they give you another gun with your order. Hilti runs in the cold. Probably super expensive though, I think you have to order 15,000 pins at a time to qualify for the gun trade in deal. Pretty much only the big outfits I've worked for use them. Pretty much never have problems with them. DeWalt seems to be good. I worry about how long the slider thing that advances the pins in the magazine will last. It feels chintzy and is almost completely plastic. If they get thrown in a gang box I feel like it would get caught on stuff and break. If you have good guys and don't mind using the hard case, it'll probably last a long time. The Ramset trakfast is a pain in the butt. They don't like to keep a charge if it's 25 degrees out or less. If you run across the Powers Track-it, turn around and walk out the door and find another job because you, my brother are working for a penny ante operation. The kind where you're 30 ft up on a lift working with garbage tools, trying to shoot top track to trusses and the gun keeps messing up and you have to keep coming down in the lift to swap out guns and the gang box is two stories down because that's the only gang box on the job. And the boss has the nerve to get on your case about production.
@@durstroyer3924 I was referring to the GX 120, the ones with the built in battery. We had a trade in program on those guns, or so my boss told me. You would buy a certain amount of pins 10,000 might be right, and they'd give you the GX120. When you ordered 10,000 more they'd give you another GX120 and take the old one. Boss said they'd refurbish them, replace the battery, check the piston and whatnot. I would normally be sceptical about a refurbished tool, but we almost never had problems with those. I haven't seen the BX3 yet. But if it's Hilti, I'm sure it's a winner.
Hilti! But trackfast after alot of usage have to constantly go to the shop!
Can u nail a 2x4 to the concrete floor with this gun
What type of fastners and where can i get them
Do you have a video on cordless framing nailers, and which ones you should go for?
So far, paslode
how's this tool been doing so far?
Hilti BX-3 is my favorite concrete nailer, but I haven't tried the DeWalt yet
kart_racer99 we have those on our crew buuuuut, the concrete nails aren’t my favorite for the gun so we dont use them as much. But when nailing into the red iron... they are nice!!
How's the dewalt doing a year later?
Gave ya a like for the review. Music at the first half was hard to deal with.
You're correct and very intelligent Vince! Most big concrete projects never cure! The Hoover dam, Niagara falls isn't cured!
But will they fully cure in 100 or 200 yrs from now? I know the bigger the mass of concrete, the longer it takes to cure, just wondering if those big projects will cure many years from now?
@@williamdavis922 of course they will! But it'll take more than this DeWalt concrete nailer to penetrate it!
@@williamdavis922 we gone bro?
This is something I did not know...but then, I am a plumber. Makes sense though, I've definitely noticed that it's harder to bust up concrete in buildings that are a lot older. Seems like they used harder steel in those elderly buildings too...I remember burning through four brand new Milwaukee metal Sawzall blades cutting through a 2" galvanized pipe in a building that was approx. 70 - 80 yrs old on a job a few years ago. Toughest time I ever had cutting through a pipe, and I've been doing it for nearly 40 yrs.
Hi Guys!!! Hey Vince, I'm ignorant about some of this stuff, in this video, why was the bottom plate spaced so far away from the wall and not flushed against the wall?
Hi Bryan, it’s keep sound transfer between walls down.
I like the dewalt pinner but I don't like that you have to buy dewalt pins they should of made it more versatile for any brand pins you want to use
Where can I get one?
Another great video but get yourself some knee pads. Trust me in a few years you'll be glad you did.
True that
I was thinking same thing 👍
Probably one of the most important job equipment ever
Dose the extra weight cut back on recoil?
That’s a good question, I’ll need to see if I can observe “felt” recoil next time I use them. I’d like to say the DeWalt has less but I’m not sure. What is a huge difference is the sound, because of the video you can’t hear the huge boom from the trackfast, which is soo loud I need to wear earmuffs so I don’t get ringing in my ears!!
It is probably a matter of preference in my opinion on commercial construction it gets extremely tireing to use this type of gun. specially doing heavy gauge top plate I'll prefer my Hilti DX351.
I am 16 looking to be a carpenter once i get out of high school and wondering where you guys are located. I take construction classes at my school and have learned a lot and looking to learn more.
Philadelphia
VCG Construction oh i live in new york. After watching your guys youtube and seeing how you love milwaukee tools i tried them out and made a switch from dewalt to them.
Properly mixed & cured cement.. Just cant beat it, 90% of buildings are now rushed..
Because of cost and customer demands.
The 2 biggest killer's of the construction industry, Quality materials are essential to getting the best results all to often trade's are expected to produce Quality from trash.
Tools are no exception to this rule That's why channels like yours are essential.. Keep up the great work Vince
Stay safe all the best to you and yours.. Same go's for all trades during this tough time. stay 💪👍
Vince I noticed that most tool rental places use makita, I was wondering if maybe you could do some investigative reporting through your industry contacts, keep them anonymous if necessary. I’m just curious if that’s mostly because of perceived greater reliability or just godfather style business deals and offers that couldn’t be refused
Plus everybody knows you automatically get a million more views when you start saying things like ACCORDING TO SOURCES CLOSE TO THE MATTER THAT REQUESTED TO REMAIN ANONYMOUS
👍🏻
Makita is a good brand to rent out as it cost the business less to buy and there is probably a maintenance agreement between Makita and HD/Lowes.
Rental companies prefer Makita because it is a tool brand that actually holds up to rental customers who don't always necessarily always take take of the tool
I’m a fan of a good old Ramset .22 gun that holds the 10 shot clip. We tried the Ramset gun in your video and we hated it
Fair enough, we appreciate the feedback
nothing like scaring the homeowners better than the .22 hahahaaa
Jayce Hezekia I give a verbal warning
@@steverone7623
we have fun yelling "Clear"... when it's between loadings, by mid-day the customer was singing our tune as well.
Very good tool.
Not quite as exciting as watching you smoke tools in TTR videos but I love seeing tool reviews being done on an actual jobsite.
I’m a dewalt man but in this case I’d go with hilti
seems dewalt is a good choice for diy. For everyday commercial use I would need to speak to the operator after a month.
Cool
The Hilti gx2 is the best in my opinion, it has more load capacity than the bx2 , not to mention that Hilti has a gun for every one , if you don't have the budget to get a $3000 gun you can buy the gx3 which is also an amazing nailer for steel and concrete for as low as $600 , the only upside I see about the DeWalt is the gasless part , ramsets, trackfast and Hilti gas nailers , all release gas when you put pressure on the gun before shooting , it's already uncomfortable working with ear protection , now imagine using a p100 mask shooting runners 40 feet on a scissors lift ( I do warehouses ) but don't get me wrong PPE rocks 🤙
It would help the machine work better if you keep your left hand off the air intake!
I don't use a concrete nailer but that dewalt seems less of a hassle.
Can I use this to trim to block?
You can use it to attach hat Track and sheet goods.
@@VCGConstruction you've got more years on me. If I put a door in a block opening with tapcons and it needed casing, you think you could nail 1x4 to a block or stucco wall with it?
I would like to see it against an I-beam
doesn't work , believe me, I' ve tried all types and length nails , the machine works for fresh concrete only ..
It hurts when I think just once bro
🤣🤣👍🏻
Just glue the track and let it ride 😏
Hilti BX3 kills this thing
Your videos are so much better to watch since you stopped screaming. Thanks.
Dewalt broth the best you can get
Dewalt for sure.
7 years of good luck?
Yup
Dewalt
first
Yep.. I got a pasload gun off Craigslist that’s my regular driver and the 800 dollar dewalt barely sees light of day - pure garbage
How is it in connecting wood to concrete like wood bottom plate for framing
