Just a quick question. I see you clip the ears of the track and use a blade to score and snap after it's nailed in place... Why not before it's nailed down. Just my preferred procedure. Always clip the ears and use a square and razor and a few bends back and forth to snap it. Especially with light gauge.

The Dewalt rep in Denver told me there gun shoots at 95 joules the gas shoot at 100 and 27 cal red loads shoot at 105 joules. This week I'll be shooting down 400 ft of c channel for 2 5 plexes it's been flawless for me. I noticed yours came with the big magazine that was the 890 now they have the 891 it comes with the small magazine and you have to buy the big one. My understanding is they made changes on the 891 mine has never misfired.

Hilti's trackfast is the best in my opinion. Just need gas cartridges only. Has a built in battery. You buy a certain amount of pins from Hilti and they give you the gun. You use those pins up and reorder they give you another gun with your order. Hilti runs in the cold. Probably super expensive though, I think you have to order 15,000 pins at a time to qualify for the gun trade in deal. Pretty much only the big outfits I've worked for use them. Pretty much never have problems with them. DeWalt seems to be good. I worry about how long the slider thing that advances the pins in the magazine will last. It feels chintzy and is almost completely plastic. If they get thrown in a gang box I feel like it would get caught on stuff and break. If you have good guys and don't mind using the hard case, it'll probably last a long time. The Ramset trakfast is a pain in the butt. They don't like to keep a charge if it's 25 degrees out or less. If you run across the Powers Track-it, turn around and walk out the door and find another job because you, my brother are working for a penny ante operation. The kind where you're 30 ft up on a lift working with garbage tools, trying to shoot top track to trusses and the gun keeps messing up and you have to keep coming down in the lift to swap out guns and the gang box is two stories down because that's the only gang box on the job. And the boss has the nerve to get on your case about production.

@@durstroyer3924 I was referring to the GX 120, the ones with the built in battery. We had a trade in program on those guns, or so my boss told me. You would buy a certain amount of pins 10,000 might be right, and they'd give you the GX120. When you ordered 10,000 more they'd give you another GX120 and take the old one. Boss said they'd refurbish them, replace the battery, check the piston and whatnot. I would normally be sceptical about a refurbished tool, but we almost never had problems with those. I haven't seen the BX3 yet. But if it's Hilti, I'm sure it's a winner.

This is something I did not know...but then, I am a plumber. Makes sense though, I've definitely noticed that it's harder to bust up concrete in buildings that are a lot older. Seems like they used harder steel in those elderly buildings too...I remember burning through four brand new Milwaukee metal Sawzall blades cutting through a 2" galvanized pipe in a building that was approx. 70 - 80 yrs old on a job a few years ago. Toughest time I ever had cutting through a pipe, and I've been doing it for nearly 40 yrs.

    • @VCGConstruction

That’s a good question, I’ll need to see if I can observe “felt” recoil next time I use them. I’d like to say the DeWalt has less but I’m not sure. What is a huge difference is the sound, because of the video you can’t hear the huge boom from the trackfast, which is soo loud I need to wear earmuffs so I don’t get ringing in my ears!!

The Hilti gx2 is the best in my opinion, it has more load capacity than the bx2 , not to mention that Hilti has a gun for every one , if you don't have the budget to get a $3000 gun you can buy the gx3 which is also an amazing nailer for steel and concrete for as low as $600 , the only upside I see about the DeWalt is the gasless part , ramsets, trackfast and Hilti gas nailers , all release gas when you put pressure on the gun before shooting , it's already uncomfortable working with ear protection , now imagine using a p100 mask shooting runners 40 feet on a scissors lift ( I do warehouses ) but don't get me wrong PPE rocks 🤙
