I have a 17 year old autistic daughter and haircuts have always been a struggle. I found it’s easier to cut her hair at home. She fights it less. She really hates having her head touched so hair washing isn’t easy either. Over time it’s gotten a little better, but she’ll only let me, mom, deal with her hair. 💛
Same! I cut my son's hair in the comfort of home. I let him watch TV, we sit on the floor and I just slowly take little cuts with scissors until it's done. He hates the feeling and sounds of the water spray or clippers, so I just take scissors to it right after a bath when his hair is already wet 😊
My daughter’s first cut went very well. She said in her cutest little voice “don’t cut too much.” I miss her being that little😢. Enjoy this time, mama! ❤ It all goes by incredibly fast…
I have a 15 year old autistic daughter and she didn’t have her first haircut until she was 3. We bought her a toy hairdresser set for her 3 rd birthday and she would pretend to cut other peoples hair, we would also pretend to cut her hair too. So she was prepared well in advance. I do think this did help with her first experience. She took it with her to show the hairdresser and we made it into a game. She was more than happy in the chair. Maybe this would also help with seeing the Dr by getting a doctors kit to play with. Then take with him when you visit. I’m in the UK so we do things differently here. We have a health visitor until 4 years and have nurse appointments. Take care all of you and good luck with fertility journey ❤
All my kids hated their first haircut! One thing that makes it a bit better is to sit with your kid on the chair, hold your child facing you. That’s the only way my little one will get through it somewhat peacefully. You’re a pro with the shots. You got this mama! Praying 🙏🏻
Momma of all boys here, the first haircut we had them use only shears and no clippers. Probably did that for the first couple haircuts so they could get used to sitting still and the experience. My oldest did well once we moved to clippers, my middle cried at first but a lollipop helped that, my youngest had no tears but he saw his big brothers getting haircuts so he walked right up there. They will get used to it after a couple visits, no worries mama!!!
a lot of times I have learned looking back as a mom I felt a lot of pressure to keep pushing forward when my child felt he at emotions because I worried what other parents would think. I have learned over time to tune-in with my child and listen to what they are expressing and listen to them only. My kids are sensitive and so am I and my husband is too. I felt like I had to conform growing up because everyone else seems to be ok and I was feeling deeply. But now I try to just tune in with them and make decisions based on where they are.
My son is autistic and hates haircuts he’s now 18. I went to beauty school in my 50s basically for my son. I let him know the day before his haircut that he will be getting one. I then remind him until we cut his hair. It helps when he knows what to expect. Maybe explain to him what all the tools let him see them up close ( with supervision of course) it will get better. I think he is just afraid of the unknown.
I have two boys that are on the spectrum and you are so right ' this is a wonderful way to help ease going into it, I do the same exact thing letting them know they will be getting a hair cut and what to expect I believe it really helps a lot ..
My daughter hated her first hair cut, but my son loved it and still loves them to this day. Every child is different, but they all survive. Liam looks adorable with his new haircut! ❤
My son’s first haircut , second haircut, third haircut, etc!! was just like your son’s!! I even had to sit in the chair myself, my son in my lap and there was still so very many tears!! His and mine!! lol!! It killed me to see him so upset!! Liam is so very adorable!! Love all your videos!! Amazing work you put into every one of them!!!
Kind of got a little emotional watching you give yourself a shot. The pain that I could tell you could feel by the look on your face... Praying for you everyday Mindy and your little family❤
It's good to get them used to having a hair cut from a young age. I got mine started before their 1st birthday, around 10/11 months. This was on the kitchen work top having a little trim with scissors. They held a favourite toy or watched something. Then every 6/8 weeks another little trim. Eventually they became use to having it trimmed with hair clippers. Totally agree, Liam's a proper little boy now, so adorable.. God I miss mine that age.. Cherish every moment Mindy, as Larry will tell you, in a blink of an eye they are grown up. Regards from the UK :)
Your makeup looks very pretty and he’s getting so big I remember you just talking about having a baby Your first time and never gave up and got your miracle baby I hope you get your second one also
Planning after naps is key! My 18 mo. old grandsons 1st haircut was at 15 mos. He sat in the white sports car. 🚙 At 1st he was curious/serious--then started to ham it up striking poses! 🤩😂 He’s due again! I wanted him to have long blonde hair, but SO more so handsome after the cut! 💇♂️
Omg....the curls! 😢 Really he had the most gorgeous curls but his new haircut is Adorable! The color you have on..l call it peach, that is your color! Really....definitely peach! Nana had to go for the first haircut, He loves her so and vice verse! Sorry you had to explain yourself about the vlogs!!!! If my hormones were being messed with, they wouldn't want to hear my explaination!!!! Love Larry's shirt!😂😂
My son Lachlan (pronounced Lock-lin) is 19 days younger than Liam. And we have not taken him to get his 1st haircut. He too has beautiful curls just like Liam. Idk how he will react to getting his 1st haircut but I think he might do ok bc he absolutely loves to have his hair brushed and his hair played with. It hurts my heart that little man had trouble with his 1st haircut. He is such a sweet and beautiful little guy. But his haircut is so adorable. I really love how you left some curls on top. You and Larry are absolutely fantastic as parents and as people in general. I tell everyone about your channel and that you keep me inspired and positive on my bad days which are a lot. I have learned from you both that no matter how hard the day is there is always something to be thankful for and always a reason to be smile and be happy. So thank you for being such a positive light in my life. Love you so much!!! I absolutely love that peachy color on you. It's so beautiful next to your brunette hair and beautiful complexion.
So happy that you’re able to do another round! Thanks for taking us on the journey with you. Side note- I’m also an IVF mama and nurse- it’s not recommended to give shots in the midline of abdomen:) Happy Wednesday!
Hi lovely 😊 watching from Australia 🇦🇺 I’m starting my 3rd round of IVF in a few weeks. I found putting an ice pack on the area before you inject for a few mins helped me! Wishing you all the best 🙏🏻🥰
We went to Sharkeys for my son's first haircut, too! He is almost 2 months younger than Liam. My son didn't cry, but maybe because we didn't do the clippers, only shears. Liam looks so grown up!
Ive been a hair stylist for 30 years and have cut alot of kids hair and i have to say usually the 1st 2 or3 hc they usually do ok then after that they hate it for a long while but also it helps if u hold them sometimes that helps
I cut all my boys hair since they were little they are all grown and moved out except my youngest and I still cut his hair. I honestly can’t recall if they ever went to a salon as a little one.
I was so happy to see Liam's little curls still on the top of his head. Those curls are so sweet! Haircuts probably will stress him out for a while. But that's ok. The first everything is always scary. 😳😊
We have a sharkys here as well in Naples Florida. I took my son there because he has autism and didn’t like the machine sound and no one touching his head. But they did such a great job. I was surprised my son let them give him his hair cut. They specialize in controlling the kids with disabilities. But now my son is grown he’s 9 years old and so he lets me do his hair cuts now.
My daughter got her 1st haircut at 3years old.... she did great. I sat in the chair with her ...she was on my lap....at a regular salon not kids and she did great. They gave her a lollipop and i saved a locket of hair. And now she always wants a hair cut...lol..... much love from dfw!! 🇨🇱🤠👢
My son is a few weeks younger than Liam and has had sooo much hair since birth so he had a haircut pretty early on. He’s been about 5 times and it’s never easy 😅 the hairdresser mentioned continuing to see the same hair dresser etc to build a routine with it.
When my kids were little what I used to do is tell them they're just getting a trim. I always thought in their minds to get a "cut" they might think it will hurt so I never used the word cut. ☺️
We had our son's first haircut done at Disney World and by some miracle he did so well. This was on his first birthday. Ever since then (he's had 2 more) he's cried and hated it.
I don't remember the firsts but I do recall my daughter hated her hair touched, combed, etc...cuts weren't fun. My son is on the spectrum and hates the electric clippers. Scissors only. We learned that the hard way. They are fine now, lol
I live in Spring Hill. I drove all the way up to Tim's barber room in Inverness the first 3.5 years and saw nikki. I LOVED her! My son cried once. But she was so good honestly she made all other times a breeze. Now I go to " 2 fresh barber on 19. They were empty mid week at 11am and all of them loved my son and was so sweet!!
Mindy, might be cool to do a book swap, go to second hand places or creating one of those book boxes/libraries where people can come and take books you are done with from. I know how much you both love to read might be kinda cool
Nurse here. Not sure if it’s been suggested but if the needle hurts going in try darting the needle quickly instead of slowly pushing it in. The faster the needle goes in the less it hurts. I love Liam’s haircut. It’s amazing how much older little ones look after their first cut.
My grandson will be 2 on August 9th. He too is getting his back jaw teeth. He constantly has his fingers in his mouth. Oliver hates getting his hair cut. It’s stressful for his Mommy too because he cries. Btw I think Liam looks like his grandma in the face and I love his haircut.
My boys didn’t like the noise from the clippers, they also had curly hair so we just started doing scissor trims for the first few years which worked out better anyway and looked better when cut. They both do much better and now do cuts with clippers now that they are older.
My oldest was fine for his first haircut, he didn't cry or anything. My youngest though, it was like a wrestling match! He did not want her touching him or even looking at him lol! She put cartoons on for him and sang to him, he calmed down a little bit but it was very emotional for everyone one involved lol.
My daughter's first hair cut was in Italy. My husband's best friend is a hair stylist and she got her hair cut at home. In Italy 1st hair cut for babies, you place money in their hands for good luck 😊 🇮🇹
Technically my sons first haircut was getting his head shaved while he was in the NICU for his IV's, but his first real haircut was done by my mother in law and he was fantastic.
Hey Mindy!! My son hates haircuts up until about age 3. Now he loves them!! It will pass.. hang in there mama. I had to just hold him in my lap, in the chair instead of having him sit on his own. He still cried but just what worked a bit better. Brace yourself!! We tried bubbles, toys etc lol… it will pass though!! Sending you and the fam so much love ❤
We have a Sharkys here too in Knoxville. I have used them since my son got his first haircut. They are great. And he hated it so much at first. He’s 4 now and has gotten used to it. ❤
Really respect and appreciate you not showing Liam having a hard time during his haircut. This I why I continue to follow you, you’re a great mom!! ❤️
Couldn't have stated that better , you're right
This
I am in awe of your courage during these torturous injections once again. Hope and pray you are successful with this round!!

Yes! My baby has just turned 15! … I miss her being a baby and toddler too 🥲
I love the Hello Kitty Tropical shirt and was glad to see it in the cart. 😁 You rock Larry! Liam’s haircut is cute.
Mindy that light pink shirt is definitely one of your best colors to wear.
MINDY!!! I. AM. DEVASTATED! 😭😭😭 I miss his beautiful goldie locks already. 🥺🫶🏽
Mindy.. you and Larry are such natural, loving parents.. I’m so praying that your dreams come true❤❤❤
You’ve got this girl!! Don’t ever let anything or anyone discourage you, God bless your sweet family and may it prosper!🙏🏼

You've got this. Praying for you. Liam's cut is so cute.
Larry trying on the Hello Kitty button up 😂
The sacrifices a parent or parents go through… praying for baby#2, MM!

I love how obsessed Liam is over the camera. Cutie Lexi! Larry in Hello Kitty would be interesting. Good luck on the shots.
My daughter got her first haircut at 10 months and I think maybe since she started early it helped because she loves getting her haircut to this day.

My kids never had issues with haircuts but I did their first few myself so maybe thats why.
You should have done the Disney hair cut! Maybe the next one so it is more fun!?!
My son is a few weeks younger than Liam and has had sooo much hair since birth so he had a haircut pretty early on. He’s been about 5 times and it’s never easy 😅 the hairdresser mentioned continuing to see the same hair dresser etc to build a routine with it.

Sharkey’s is the BEST!
My oldest was fine for his first haircut, he didn't cry or anything. My youngest though, it was like a wrestling match! He did not want her touching him or even looking at him lol! She put cartoons on for him and sang to him, he calmed down a little bit but it was very emotional for everyone one involved lol.
You got this!!!!!❤
My daughter's first hair cut was in Italy.
