Yes, I keep fabric scissors specific for fabric.

Beth, yes! The worst is when fabric scissors get used to open packages and end up with that sticky gum on them. I've tried labeling my scissors as "fabric only", but that doesn't seem to keep them from getting used for other purposes :)

Bobbi, thanks! These are so cute, and I've been meaning to share this tutorial for months (years!) now. Good for you for keeping your scissors separate...I used to be so much better at that!

Love the pattern and your presentation. The sound was a bit echo 'isk' and every time you patted the table it was loud. Enjoyed the why when you talked about fabric choices! Would like to see more of which stitch length/width and why you used a walking foot. Look forward to watching more of your videos.

Hi Tina! Thanks for that feedback; I'll keep a closer eye on the mic next time. For me, I pretty much exclusively use the accufeed foot that Janome provided with their machine. It just moves the fabric SO perfectly as I sew! As for stitch length, I do slightly shorten the length on the napkins when stitching the inside just so the corners (especially near the trunk) have a bit more stability on them.

So cute! I wonder if I can sew these one handed?! 🤔😂

Anne, haha, you've got this! You can totally sew them one handed - it's the cutting them out that would be the challenge ;)

No, I don't have a specific pair of scissors for paper, etc. My scissors are the spring loaded Fiskars and I cut paper, template plastic and fabric, they're still sharp and are about 20 years old. Love your trees.

Carmen, so glad you like the trees! I'm super intrigued by your scissors...Googling them now. I love the idea of a pair of scissors that not only performs multiple functions but also lasts 20 years!
