Leo Fender was responsible for the invention of countless classic bass pickups, not least of all the G&L MFD (Magnetic Field Design) pickups. We recently built two 32" Scale, 5-string Armitage basses featuring a single MFD pickup paired with a uniquely powerful G&L preamp.

I have two L-2500s, one fretted one fretless. I've often thought of building a bass with an MFD, but then I already have that sound with the G&Ls! Those basses just sit perfectly in a mix. The low B sounds huge at 32"
