    wow that's super easy! I get terrified of doing anything electrical on my boat and I got nervous when the trolling motor I'm about to purchase required me to connect it to my current plug, which is very similar to yours. You made it look like an idiot, like myself could do it. Bravo!

    Thanks. So the jumper between batteries Is built into the receptical? I have the 4 wire system also and most of the 12-24 volt vids are showing it done at the battery no doubt because they only have two wires

      batripp1: There are four wires that run from two batteries to the trolling motor receptacle (Marinco 12/24V receptacle). This is the factory setup on my Ranger. I also have a YT showing the installation of a new receptacle showing the connecting of the four wires from the batteries. ua-cam.com/video/yLuBkW6zMRA/v-deo.html. The Marinco 12/24 trolling motor plug that plugs into the receptacle is jumpered internally to supply 12/24 V power to the trolling motor when plugged into the receptacle. There are no jumpers at the batteries- four separate leads. Thanks for watching.

    Does this plug have to be twisted to the right (locked) to work?
    I’ve notice my plug works when it’s plugged “straight” in, but I’d I twist it to the right to “lock” it in, I’m not getting power.

      It should be locked in. It sounds like you have a loose connection. I would start by taking the plug apart and making sure that you don’t have any loose wire connections. You should check to make sure that all the screws are tight even the ones that don’t have wires connected to them because you have a jumper that’s in there that needs to be tight.

    2:53 i have this plug ( not new). My boat was wired originally for 24 volt. I just installed a new Motorguide X3 12 volt. Today i found out on the water that the prop is spinning in reverse. Is it possible that my plug wiring is causing this? or is it more likely that the issue is the pos and neg leads on the battery are reversed. Thanks

      On my boat the receptacle is wired to be either 12 or 24 volts. When you wire the trolling motor plug to the trolling motor, it has an option for either 12 or 24 volts. You want to make sure you have your pos and neg leads in the correct ports for 12 volts. It sounds like you may have the polarity reversed either at the plug or the batteries.

    What gauge wire is this

    • @ProWrenching
      @ProWrenching  2 роки тому +1

      The wire gauge is not marked. I measured the outer diameter of the wire including the insulation - it measures .28 inches. This is the factory wiring from Ranger.
