      It’s interesting though because watching the EDR this year is highlighting the pros wanting smaller bikes. Norco riders on Sights, Verner winning on a 130mm Forbidden Druid, the Specialized guys running stumpy Evos over Enduros with 150mm rears and Lyrik forks over Zebs.
      It would be interesting to see if your times actually improve should you get the bigger bike.

    • @bikersedge
      @bikersedge  Рік тому +2

      It's interesting to see a lot of those riders size down as well. They've got the skill and strength to get away with a smaller, less stable bike. They benefit is a more maneuverable bike for those tight euro tracks.

      @@bikersedgeexactly why I'm going allied bc40 on a 130 fox 34 and on the burlier end aggressive xc/ light trail but yet ride it on the North shore. More and more riders want capable bikes that climb impeccably well.. All while crushing the descent ..Increasing skill can get you there on a lighter duty bike.

      If you love the Ripmo V2 but want just a little more, you should try the Revel Rail 29. In my opinion its a better bike and I've owned both. It climbs just as well but has a bit more travel in the rear along with better traction. The rear suspension on the Rail just soaks up hits better, performs better in chatter and is equally as supportive. Its a killer bike!

    I love Ibis bikes and have owned several over the years. I can't really justify this bike for me personally anymore but I can see why others would love it. Thanks for another great video. This bike is beautiful! and this is easily Ibis' best looking bike ever. This bike is a serious candidate to replace my MegatowerV2! I do love the MegaV2, but I am looking more of a Trail Worthy Bike as opposed to a pure Enduro and Park Bike like the MegaV2 is. I do miss the nice trail manners of my RipmoV1, to me that was the best all around peddling trail-bike that I have ever owned. My MegaV2 seems to be just more draggy and harder to pedal on long days than the RipmoV1. I do love the Mega at the DH parks and in the rowdy section, but even then, it is still not as plush and park worthy as a DH bike. Now that I have 2 DH bikes, I feel like the MegaV2 does NOT have a place in my stable anymore, and I should replace it with this bike. I prefer Mullet Bikes for the parks anyways, so another reason to replace the MegaV2 with this bike.

    Wish I didn't see this video. I've had an HD5 for 3 years now and love it. The mullet interests me very much. Not a fan of 29ers. My last bike was a 29er and I've demoed several. Never ridden a mullet, though. I like Ibis bikes and Chuck seems like a nice guy. I met him once and he sent me an email saying he appreciated my story of my rheumatoid arthritis and how I ended up getting an HD5. He said he would send it out to all his employees.

      We've done almost all of those bikes in our showdown videos. I'd point you in that direction for finding the one that will best suit how you like to ride. From the sounds of it, a MT wouldn't be a bad choice. Burly, stiff frame, tons of travel. Bonus points for pedaling pretty well.

    I personally think the only miss is no in-frame storage. Every other brand ibis directly competes with offers a "swat" box storage solution. Frame bag that is sold separately is a tough pill to swallow when there's sb160, orbea rallion, mega tower, even the specialized Enduro seems more modern imo.

    Definitely need to demo one of these. Interested to see just how smooth it is over chatter compared to horst link bikes, the Ripmo is definitely not the world's smoothest bike over chattery trails and braking bumps. Also sounds like it corners better than the Ripmo which has a notoriously vague front end.

    Hey, I really appreciate your bike reviews! Especially since you seem to review every bike I´m interested in for my next one. As you are mentioning the HD6 is one of the more agile, sportier enduro bikes these days: how does it compare to the Orbea Rallon in climbing and (more important) decending? Do they feel comparable regarding the suspension feel?

    • @bikersedge
      @bikersedge  Рік тому +1

      I made that quick comparison in the video about the climbs. They’re both pretty comparable and quick. On the DH I think the HD6 rides a bit deeper and bigger without giving up much or anything in the corners. The Rallons suspension feels much firmer and supportive. Better for pumping and jumping.

      Thank you for the reply! The first HD6s are available now here in Germany. I may have to swing my leg over one. Sometimes it’s hard to tell how much bike you really need for home trail and bikepark use without the home trails becoming to easy (aka ironed out) but also that your hands don’t fall of during braking bumps on high speed bikepark stuff.

      The transition sentinel is more of an all mountain bike that the others you listed. Personally it’s one of my favorite bikes of all time. Thanks for the awesome review! I've been obsessing over the HD6 and after watching this, I'm convinced this is exactly the bike I need. My biggest concern is the size of the bike. I'm short (5'2"). I'm currently riding a small Juliana Roubion (also a mullet) and a small ibis DV9 (29er) and they are probably like just a teeny bit bigger than ideal. The Roubion does come in an XS but then it's just a 27.5 which makes me feel like I'm riding on top of the bike too much, now that I'm so used to 29ers. Anyway, I'm afraid that even the size 1 in this bike will be too big for me. Personal short lady shredder problems, I know...I'll look for one to demo. Lolz.

Im 6’6 and my Ripmo has 175mm and I’ve though about shorter cranks but its also running a 240 mm dropper for my long as legs. It’s tough to find an enduro bike that doesn’t compromise climbing. Don’t think that really exists. You’re always going to give up climbing performance if you want more DH performance. That said some of the better climbing enduro hikes I’ve ridden are the Rallon and HD6

    Chainstay is too short. With a mullet, one doesn't need that short of chainstay. The 27.5 rear is inherently more maneuverable. The SC Nomad got it right with their chainstay length.

    • @bikersedge
      @bikersedge  Рік тому +1

      I'd argue that you don't really get the full handling benefits of a mullet without a shorter chainstay. the handling/maneuverability comes from the overall shorter wheelbase that a 27.5 allows. Sure the wheel itself offers some benefits in terms of butt clearance, acceleration and maneuverability in the air, but a mullet bike with a long chainstay will corner similar to a comparable length 29 chainstay.

      @@bikersedge but how is the high speed stability of the HD6?

    • @bikersedge
      @bikersedge  Рік тому +1

      Plenty stable. Bikes are a matter of give and take. The HD6 isn’t as stable as others longer slacker bikes. But it makes up for it in the corners. A longer chainstay would make it more stable but also harder to corner/maneuver regardless of wheel size.
