    moved to Salt Lake City in August 2021...it's getting hella crowded...lol "hella", yea that's a Utah slang....but for real, the cost of living is getting up there and the traffic is becoming insane....and lastly, the homeless crisis is getting outta hand...great place but it has it's cons but I do like it!

    Any comments on Tooele or Provo? What is, in your opinion the best suburb area to live within 30-40 min of the airport? House prices are pretty high there so I’m looking for a nice place while spending 500k or less on a home.

      That's a fantastic question and a perfect video idea for me as well. I should do a video of the best homes under 500k within 30-45 min. of Salt Lake City & the Airport. To answer your question directly, I've sold many homes including this month that fit this description exactly and I've seen all of the existing & new construction inventory that are under 500k and the best places to find this are: Tooele (awesome new subdivisions w/ a lot of options), Stansbury Park (fewer options), Eagle Mountain (lots of options) and up north in Syracuse.

      Seriously take into consideration the time spent sitting in traffic if you live south (provo/lehi/eagle moutnain etc), if you are working downtown.
      If you work downtown, You are significantly better off living in Tooele or Davis County versus anywhere in Utah County.
      Also, Utah county culture sucks if you aren't TBM mormon. This is a fact.

    Hi Scott. Do you have any information on the job market for architecture in Salt Lake City?

    • @scottdsteele
      @scottdsteele  Місяць тому

      It looks like Utah ranks #10 in the nation for jobs specifically for Architects. Not bad!

    Hey Scott. For someone looking at potential jobs to re-locate to SLC, what would you say is a healthy income to live/work/rent without having to stress about money? I saw that the median salary in SLC is about $55 to $60k, would that be a decent amount to get by with current cost of living?

      Good afternoon! If you're a single adult, to live the typical lifestyle, you're going to have to cover the cost of rent or housing on your income alone along with everything else and I'd place that number as closer to 70k / year. with 2 working adults and a family, you're going to need to have a household income closer to 125 - 140k. Of course there are many that live here on much less but this is to live comfortably and using data and the 50/30/20 Rule whereby 50% of your net income covers your necessities, 30% for discretionary expenses and 20% for investments and savings.

    Me and my wife have been looking at Utah, the reason we'd move their is mainly because her parents live their, i am in the healthcare industry doing Sterile Processing or Central Service some states call it, she is a Front End manager for Sprouts, we both make 30 an hour living in California, im worried we would take a huge pay cut moving to Utah and not be able to afford bills ect after moving, it would be our first home.

      @scottdsteele  2 місяці тому

      Got it! You could buy a home here with that level of pay, and you can even buy a nice newer home, but you will be able 30-45 min away from downtown SLC

    I have lived hear my hole life and I am 70 and if I was not this old we would be leaving Utah it is to crowded it used to be so nice to go ski but now it is a disaster and the cost to ski any more is a joke. Are National parks we used to love to go to I would not even go to them any more because of the crowd's.
