If I was still in the business I’d probably tig weld the casing and prop it up in my CNC and re machine the stop tab. Or as an alternative machine it off smoothly and make a mountable Tab from tool steel that won’t sheet off so easily.

You remove the TCM and that will give you access to the gears.
