She was always one of my favorite dancers. I think it was because in addition to being a bad ass dancer she was very memorable. And apparently that high pony tail with a gold band played a part in making her so unforgettable. Anyway, she looks crazy great and I bet she can still kill it on the floor.
Lolol the first thing you learn about someone from Chicago is that they're from Chicago. Maybe even before our names. I've been in LA for almost 10 years and I still tell people I'm from Chicago. Lolol
This deserves more views. All of the ambiguous/black adjacent women have hundreds of thousands more views. Let's celebrate our queens on the platforms that were created to let them shine!
Sherri Mcfadden Jody Watley still fine. I was just on her channel, she was a dancer on Soul Train when she was a teenager in the mid 70’s. Came out as solo artist in 87.
She looks better now than she did then! Don Cornelius provided so much opportunities for these young people and they were smart enough to take advantage of it!
I actually had tears in my eyes when she described walking to the Soul Train stage for the first time. Her story reminded me of the first time I went to New York. I saw the Statue of Liberty and lost it. LOL I have to say, all the dancers still look fantastic!
Amazing isn't it? I remember my mother telling my brother and me that she was going to NYC in the morning and only one of us could go with her. That would be whoever woke up early enough. Needless to say it was him. They saw the United Nations that day. I didn't see it until I was a full grown man but it was so special because I remembered how I missed out on it that day as a child.
Awwww how sweet im from FLORIDA 30 mins away from 305 miami im sure i would have the same reaction seeing her too 🗽 thats something you dont see everyday around here lol
DAMN!!!! She really made Soul Train work for her. Huge props! Is it me or does she look better as a seasoned woman than she did when she was a youngun? But she was bad when she was younger though.
I am so proud of Julie. I grew up in the church in Chicago with her. She didn't tell that she was once a Jet centerfold :) She is very talented, nice and beautiful.
Exactly! Me too. And in case anyone didn't know Jody Whatley started as a soul train dancer. Lol. Love her and I still wear big hoop earrings thanks to her!
@@neat1757 I got to meet Jody when I was a kid living in Hollywood across from 2 studios. Don had a show he created and some of the dancers were there. I remember seeing Stevie Wonder playing on stage. She was really nice. I love how distinct her voice is and always thought she was pretty.
Omg... I love these segments!!! I wish I could get a do over and be one of the dancers on Soul Train in my early twenties!! It was one of my favorite shows growing up. You always looked for the regular dancers!! I used to wear my hair like that too with the little gold thing around it!! The good old days.😂 I turn 50 this year! I think most of us wanted to be Soul Train dancers!!❤️
Oh my goodness. Juliette and I went to high school together..actually I was a class or two ahead of her. Academy of Our Lady in Chicago. It has been renamed since then though. Happy to.see she is doing so well! Go Juliette!

Always watched Juliette on Soul Train as a kid! Loved that she was a brown girl who was a trendsetter. She certainly started the hair band ponytail on top.

You just never know what goes on behind the scenes. I used to watch Soul Train every weekend. On Sundays, I used to turn the tv down low & sneak & watch the show. I grew up watching she, her eyebrows & her peers. She looks like a completely different woman. I’m very impressed by how proactive & industrious she was & is. She created quite a career for herself by capitalizing on her beauty & popularity. How nice it was for the man who created the brand to allow her to do a little promo & get a little coin & when he felt she had gone far enough, he opened doors for her to have other opportunities in the industry. This was actually a pretty dope mini documentary. I liked it & you thumb downers are just hating.
No Don didn't try to block her hustle. He wasn't paying nobody anyways. Glad he decided to help her out. Guess he admired her drive and ambition. She still looks GREAT!

All the _ST_ dancers aging backwards, and she is no exception. 👊👊👊👊👊👊

David Richardson that is exactly what I was thinking.
Oh Wow! Forgot all about her. Use to get her and Monique mixed up.
