@@mindevYT No problem man you were a great help with my modeling even if it took me a while to get what you're doing. You're very fast it's extremely impressive. Keep up the great work man you've definitely earned yourself a sub :)
Thanks :) There is not much point to make a tutorial series for a revolver because almost everything I cover in this series would apply to the revolver too, but I could create a timelapse of a revolver which you should be able to follow along, maybe in the near future
Hey, I know its been a year since you uploaded that, but anyways hope u'll help me out. On 7:49 you added a loop cut with a knife tool, and then somehow moved it along the other edges without affecting the geometry. (You did it exactly on 7:51). It says you're pressing CTRL+S on screencast keys. But ctrl+s is just saving project for me
@@quadrize3718 Oh geez it has been almost a year... I'm glad you figured it out, sorry for not making it more clear in the video. If you need any more help feel free to drop a comment, I'm always here :)
@@mindevYT Why are you not uploading anymore tho? There aren't many such complete and detailed videos on youtube of game-ready weapons. When I saw your channel, I thought I was lucky to find it. And then I saw that the videos hadn't been uploaded for 8 months.
@@quadrize3718 Before the start of the year I had many plans for this channel, then after New Years I got myself a second job and since then I have been somewhat occupied and don't always have time to work on this, but being honest, the main problem is my lack of creative energy. I often have problems with motivation... I was thinking of moving my streams from Twtch over to here and store them as VODs so that people can use it as a tool in addition to the other videos, I will try get to doing that in the near future.
why did we pick 26 vertices for the circle on the bottom of the slide? 20:36 ive also seen it explained as making a T shape with the edge for proper edge flow. where the top of the "T" is the outside or inside edge, and the vertical part coming down from the "T" needs to run perpendicular into the edge, and when you do that from every side of the edges, their intersections are good indicators of what the topology ultimately will look like. 27:00 i used the same curve profil we used on the front underside and front of the handle, for the rear of the handle. was there a reason you just made it plat and then manually formed the curve?
There was no particular reason for exactly 26, just a round number that has good definition for the curve but is also mirror-able. The 'T' explanation is a great way of wording it, will try to use this example if I ever have to explain that again :D And for the curve, again there is no real reason other than I just wanted to manually create the curve because I had more control over it, finer adjustments.
I'm making another gun following this video, and finishing the inside of the slide is a real pain in the ass because the ejection port is slightly different. Most of it is on the side, with only a small part extending to the top. 46:00
Yeah it quickly becomes complicated when you try make other guns that have different mechanisms and shapes. Good luck with your project! I recommend you use plenty of good reference images :)
I’ve always tried using booleans and other dumb stuff just to create curves and other simple things… im an idiot for not thinking of rearranging vertices great video
I'm not sure which vertices you are mentioning, are you talking about the bottom trigger guard and frame verts? Because those get cleaned up a bit later on (I think). Although looking back I noticed that at 24:50 I created a face with 5 verts selected which was a mistake...
Its a tiny piece and it doesn't require much geometry, but at the same time I want it to stay defined. A 12 vert circle would work fine, but I often find myself leaving curves too low poly, so I try to give it slightly more verts when I can
I use the Steam version of Substance Painter 2022 because it was a one payment for indefinite use, instead of paying monthly fee to adobe. Its the exact same software though....
With the information and techniques provided, you should be able to model many things, including other weapons. This method I have been using for several years to create a bunch of different weapon and prop models. With enough practice anything is possible.
If you hold Left Shift whilst in the Knife tool, it will place a cut in the centre of the edge. You can also look at all the tool relevant shortcuts by looking at the bottom of the screen when using any tool or function, hope this helps
When you're on the uvpackmaster website, there should be 2 things you download: the uvp engine for either windows or linux and mac, and the packmaster-addon.zip. The zip file you just downloaded, don't unzip it, just leave it in the downloads folder as it is or move it to desktop so you can find it easier. Install the uvp engine, and then navigate to your addons in blender, hit 'install...' then you should be able to locate your .zip file you downloaded, select it and hit 'install add-on'. If you are still having issues with it, try looking up the official setup guide which talks through the entire process in greater detail. I hope this helps.

I always wonder, like, how you guys actually make your model smoothly perfect to every minute detail when you guys tryna make hipolys with "bevelling+subd"method,or pipeline so to speak. the other days,I made my first attempt at modelling a colt m1911 pistol, which has so many details pretty much in common with this gun you modelled. it was when i tried manually bevelled the openning in the slide,I found like there always were some weird shading and bumpy areas that no matter how I tried, still remained there,no way to perfectly figure out!i learned myself later, that you can't really work so well on a cylindrical shape especially with low amount of segements(but mine was 32 tho,not that low by the way),and because when you cut a box out of cylinder,if you really wish to hold that four angled sides, you'll need atleast two more edeges come closer to those four sides for later on subd, and that would possibly be the cause of all that mess(bumy and wierd shading). i reallly have no clue, can you help me explain something about the bevelthing😢.
Colt 1911 has a lot of challenging areas when you try to model it, which is the reason why I decided to create a tutorial on a slightly simplified version of it so that I can show how to go about making such details. If you watch this entire series, I go through every modelling step and I do my best to explain my actions when/where relevant, you should be able to follow along if you wanted. When it comes to creating smooth bevels; you need a degree of preparation and planning. You have to set up your verts/edge flow so that the modifier can work properly. In some cases you might need to connect verts to create triangles or n-gons so that the mesh can flow. I'm not entirely sure what kind of issues you might be having without looking at your model, if you want you can shoot me a DM on twitter (@MMufake) with a screenshot and I can try help/guide you

Its the default Blender knife tool, if you hold Left Shift while in knife tool, the cut will snap to the center of the Edge.
