Agree with all your thoughts. The only thing I would add though is that auto lane change was considerably better until recent updates. Just did a trip from the Gold Coast to Canberra and back and it was, at times, quite dangerous, after having zero issues with it from March to November 2022 it’s a little disappointing. Pretty sure they will fix it.
Most aussie thing ever - summon car into shade. Genius. Loved auto lane change with OpenPilot in my toyota.. will miss this =( P.S. Your channel helped me confirm my order for a MY =)
Have driven my Y a week now - took it on a 1000km road trip to the Vic/NSW border and back a week later, the day after picking it up - baptism of fire going this far a day into ownership. Auto lane change was good for 90% of the drive, but at times it would flash the indicator and then give up for seemingly no reason. Navigate on Autopilot was good at ensuring I was in my correct lane early enough but woeful at actually taking interchanges it would almost brake and then steer in the opposite direction. One thing I did really like about Navigate on Autopilot was the auto lane change modes, I'm running on Mad Max with confirmation required and it kept me moving at decent pace and got me back out of the passing lane as soon as practical - way better than having to react to slow cars with radar cruise control like in my previous car. Autopark, Summon both good when I've used them. All in all I don't regret paying for the package upfront as I know it'll improve.
These is great feedback to hear ! Glad you’re finding it useful, especially after such a big road trip. I have no doubt these features will continue to improve, hopefully somewhat dramatically this year 👍
@@RyanCowan for sure. That being said, I can see how people can survive with basic auto steer and cruise. The only other gripe I had with it was there was a stretch of highway where navigate would switch off every 2-300m because of intersections and for some reason the car decided to recalculate my route every time it switched off and on, and because this was in range of a supercharging stop battery preconditioning was interrupted.
Hi Ryan, Luna here! I tried summon in the Woolworth car park, my son and me just sat at the back, and my husband stood at the door of the supermarket, it took quite a while to finally pick him up, but it did the job, LoL
Thank you for your honest review of EAP. With the removal of the USS, the 5 features have been disabled until Tesla Vision is updated. After your review. I decided to cancel the EAP ( $6800 CAD ) on my MYP. I agree 100% with you to wait until the EAP functions more like it is advertised. Cheers
I purchased acceleration boost knowing it was refundable! I did not realise that enhanced Autopilot was also refundable! I’m tempted ! (Ah that post was made part way through watching your video ! ) Having made it to the end … I’ll wait ! I trust your judgement
I got the smaller wheeels and ordered an after market black hubcap (for the Y but not made by Tesla) for ~$300. Super easy to change out and they look great, and cheaper than the wheel upgrade. Perfect fit too.
Gee that EV Showcase sounds like an awesome event... I wonder who the bright spark was who engaged the wheels on that idea?! 😝👍 Looking forward to meeting you in person Ryan!
I wish Tesla would offer each feature separately for $1000 each. I would definitely get summon and Auto lane change in a heartbeat. Love these features. But the rest are so disappointing and I don't love the other 2 that much (yet) to pay an extra 3k :)
One thing that's very apparent as an Aus expat living in both Canada and the US. The autopilot/FSD in Australia is about 2 years behind the rest of the world. I drove an FSD Model Y in Melbourne and it's next to useless compared to everything it can do in NY and Toronto. I'm guessing it's because Australia is the last market they invest in from a product development standpoint which makes sense. But it's a vastly different experience owning a Tesla over here compared to Aus
I think EAP is worth it if you're getting a used Tesla. You can get them for way cheaper than usual, and if it has USS, then you'll have the features that Vision cars don't have yet.
Have to agree. I was so disappointed with the Auto Park feature (My Ranger WILDTRAK was way better) . The only Enhanced Feature I really enjoyed was the summon feature. Tesla should make Enhanced Auto Pilot free with their cars due to the beta version it really is at. Keep your awesome content coming mate… Love it. Would love to buy the merch if you put it online as well Ryan.
Thanks so much mate ! Crazy to think the Ranger parks better 😂 I agree EAP should be included in the car, as I would be very upset if I forked out $5k for these features. Out of interest, what merch would you like to see most? I'm thinking caps might be good ! 🧢
@@RyanCowan haha. Is crazy, I know the Tesla will be better eventually. I would love to see hats 🧢 even something different like branded coffee cups for your car etc would be awesome if possible. All about supporting the community mate.
Well thanks for your info on all these features of EAP, but myself I will be happy with just Basic Auto Pilot (BAP). Being Retired, I don't ever get on Freeways so lane changing is not needed for around town or 2 lane roads. I will do my own parking, thank you. And I don't have any restricted locations where I need to use Summons. Last I don't want to spend 6000 dollars on features I don't need at this time. BAP is free with the Tesla's and should be good enough for me. I will be purchasing a Model Y Long Range AWD in the near future and looking forward to driving it. If I do have dire needs for EAP anytime in the future, I can always order the update. Same goes for FSD, I can't justify the cost of needing that either.
Just ordered my Model Y RWD. What i would like Tesla to do, would be to offer smaller chunks of features on a subscription basis, so i could turn them on and off based on my needs and budget.
I have to agree. After 3 weeks of using EAP, it isn’t worth the money. I have found, the more complicated the feature, the more likely it is to disappoint. The only feature I’ve found reliable is “summon”. “Lane Change” sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t. “Smart Summon” is random and I wouldn’t trust it if there’s any chance of another vehicle moving in the same car park. “Auto Park” is embarrassing. “Navigate on Autopilot” is something I’ve only tried once (most times I know where I’m going) and it’s result was erratic. NoA and (A)Smart Summon should be moved to FSD and the other features become part of the standard Autopilot. At the very least compensate owners who have had their cars devalued $5000 overnight by the latest price drop by making the EAP ‘trial’, permanent.
Have to agree... as much as I was really keen for these features, they are simply not there yet. Thanks to Tesla for the trial, but it is a pass from me. Thanks of the discount code for the Fully Charged tickets... see you there 👍
I wish I hadn't bothered getting EAP as I live in the UK, and it's not as effective (no self parking) and don't even think about Smart Summon. Standard Summon has been useful for getting in and out of tight spots, but not worth the total price.
so... smart summon.... i recently took my pop out for brecky, as we finished up walked outside my pop laughs and says "you would think if the car was so smart it would be able to come to us" i did the whole "hold my coffee" and proceeded to start the app up. i have never used the feature but the car park was quite large and pretty much empty so i felt pretty confident to show off a bit. the car started no issues and started moving. pop was amazed the car was moving by itself instead of turning left it turned right...... i thought "it must just think its a 1 way street we will see how we go" car turned right again..... im now watching my car drive away..... my wife and pop were rolling on the floor laughing.... wasn't going well.... my littoral 20m walk turned into a 200m walk when i came to the conclusion the car would have been more then happy to go home without me..😅 i feel it was taking the "safest way" and would have got to me eventually but the carpark was huge and im not %100 if the locals would have been happy with a free range tesla
Glad you were honest Ryan. I love my Tesla but the features on enhanced autopilot are hopeless. Save the $5,100 and save yourself huge embarrassment and park the car yourself and move (summon) the car yourself. Hopefully next year they give us another trial and it is much improved.
Unfortunately I think it’s kind of a Catch-22 with these features at the moment. They’re not great at the moment, but the more it’s used the better it will get over time. Think you just need to put up with the pain at the moment
Do you know if the Yoke steering wheels are legal in Australia ? I see a lot of Tesla 3 & Y owners are installing the yoke in the US, not sure if that will affect the warranty and insurance.

I had a couple of phantom lane changes on the highway: ie, the car would indicate (by itself) even when there was no need. Tesla said it was a result of Navigate on Autopilot, which I then disabled. Agree with your thoughts though - the whole package is not worth $5k

Fk, I bought the enhanced didn’t even research. Car got delivered yesterday, it’s so freaking weird, I’m not liking it just yet.
Congrats on the new car! Don't worry, enhanced AP will get better with time. And the more we used it, the more we could see it's benefits (once you get used to how it works)

Hi Ryan. Just wanted to get your opinion on Tesla removing the USS and going vision only. we booked our last July and got a Feb may delivery date this year and its not going to have USS in al probability which is kinda concerning. Sorry if you have address this before.
Hey mate, I reckon you'll be fine. By the time delivery comes around you shouldn't notice any difference.
