From a bassist who can play this song perfectly, im honestly more impressed by ppl who can get the underrated guitar parts right than the bass. So much more movement than anything geddy is doing. Well done my man
That's one of the things that makes Rush such an incredible band. Their songs, as a whole, are amazing, then, when you break them into their instrumental parts, you see the complexity of the music. Each being it's own voice yet meshed together by 3 insanely talented, gifted and humble musicians to create a tight musical onslaught on ones senses!
@@trainguy1017 i think a lot of what alex had to do was write parts that fit what geddy was doing, and alex was excellent at that. I learned from the rockline interviews that they did from 84-07 that geddy was the primary song writer. Alex had very little do with writing very much. He contributed parts sometimes and obviously the solos, but geddy really was the one putting everything together and wrote a large majority of everything. So alex had to find his role in this band and he fit in nicely. I get the sense alex wasnt happy with rush in a very long time. Part of that is he just sold all of his rush guitars, so im thinking he may not look back at the band very fondly because of his limited role, but he was such a team player. Filled out the sound the best he could with such a busy bassist trying to gobble up the spotlight and attention, and he never oncd complained publicly.
@@trainguy1017 and geddy has made snarky remarks to alex about his limited role. During vapor trails alex was talking about how “we were there working,” and geddy sitting next to him said “you were?” Other interviews where geddy was saying he would start working on a song and alex would take his usual place on the couch and go to sleep. There is a little animosity between them that peaks its hear here and there about alex’s lack of involvement in the creative process. But I personally love alex’s playing in rush. He really just fit in so great.
Pinch harmonics...go on youtube..there are good tutorials about them. They take a bit of practice, but they become second nature when practiced regularly.
Dont see it as a hard solo, see it as a good challenge, you Will learn New things out of it, and its really cool to play. I used to think that this was way beyond my level and it turned out its not like that. It was all in my Head
Dude, I’ve literally got it down, but I cannot play 0:41 fast enough! I obviously practice and need to more, but does anyone have any tips to play that part quickly?
Well main thing obviously is just keep practicing, really takes a while to get it down. Some tips might be using a smaller pick, closing your right hand up for more mobility, and the most obvious one, start slow and work the speed up
It sounds muddier in my opinion but I can't say I can do much better myself at this point. Im just trying to make sense of the original commenters thought process for y'all.
Completely fake, you missed at least 5 in the first 30 seconds and for some reason it still sounded like the damn album recording. Do not disrespect Alex Lifeson like this
Why would he fake this? All of his other videos are legit, so why would this one he fake? Don't just immediately assume the worst. He's a good kid and it makes me and others think you are just jealous of the person's potential.

as a guitarist who learned this song, Geddy’s bass sounds much harder. And Alex’s parts already feel impossible
2:45 you fucking nailed it son
Hell yeah, he was on the money!
2:45 Best part!
0:42 honorable moment that deserves to be in the hall of fame.
Dude this song is insane, and you killed it! Just started learning it myself so thought I’d watch a cover to get me goin. Thanks for this!
reminds me of guitar hero 2 of PS2 when I was a kid.
that rich organic sound! makes me remember my childhood for some reason :D
how u got that sound quality? jesus so great
@Final Legions
Oh you complete tit.
@Final Legions Nice ear you got there, what's next, he stole the sound from Guitar Pro? Jesus, that explains why you upload music lol
I mean, this dude also did a kick-ass job on the bass cover too!!
wow are you always you...fantastic
You could add a little vibrato at starting riffs last notes :)
I mean from 0:34 to 1:08
Shut up
God are you calling me that or agreeing with me
@@levig384 nothing’s wrong with advice.
@@levig384dude every musician can benefit from advice and he is right. If he used more vibrato it would give his cover even more life.
The 1:15 its so cool, congratulations bro
Hey man loved the cover a ton but was wondering how you got that high pitched squeal on your guitar during the part at 4:00. Thanks
pinch harmonic
It's just a pinch harmonic

I love this tone so much how do you get it
you nailed that solo wtf
Awesome job well done
Mindblowing!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great job with that cover
1:56
Definitely my favorite part of the song
You nailed that song !
That's pretty close man, keep it up.
No it’s perfect
@@levig384 it is perfect lol. And the solo isnt something that needs to be 100 percent replicated because Alex plays it differently each time himself
John Titor exactly
John Titor The ironic thing is that he played the solo identically to how Alex does on the album.
Medmac2112 name one part where it’s not identical besides the tone
Been learning guitar for two years wonder how long it would take for me to learn this song.
@Serge Descoeurs Thx for the advice now I can play most parts with no problem except for the solo
@@GrayKeyboard It would take probably one month to play it perfectly. At least according to my experience
@@GrayKeyboard i know. It's not about playing it right, it's about not getting it wrong evert time you play it

Fantastic!!!!!
Fucking amazing
awesome job!
Incredible!!!
Blah blah blah- Alex Lifeson
This is a real comment
@@zct7114 thank you
great skill man
Fab...🤜💥🤛
Excellent job 👏🏻
Perfekt playing!!!
YES !!! This song is pretty hard and you nailed it !
I liked watching your video... please do keep playing songs! Also - it'd be great to see you making some collabs in BandHub
Final Legions what makes you say that?
Well done my friend.. :)
You rule man!
You're epic
Nice job J
Damn that is a nice guitar
Noice.
Cool video! Is it possible to buy tabs (note for note pdf file) from You for a specific song of my request?
When we getting a new video bro
Whats insane is i think the solo is easier than the entire song
Nice job dude!
Such a FAT tone fuck yeah

backing track?
Tab?
Are we sure that that wasn’t the track?
Who the fuck disliked this???
zeppelin gotta be easy for you......after all the rush !!!!
dud there are no chords in that main riff. you were adding notes that shouldn't be there lol
Jerry C Who cares? It sounds great with chords too!
Who cares tho?

Who says that it has to be 100% accurate to the original. He gave the song a little twist from himself and turned out great.
I like to hang out with those like Septic Topix. Sometimes, if fishy, I literally help with spelling and grammar too. 🙃

fake
This video is 110% mimed.
2:48 take a close look his vibrato and audio. There is a huge difference.
lol
Fanta Banta ive been playing guitar for 6 years and can 120% confirm its not mimed. Your welcome
I dont even wanna know what drugs youre on if you think this is mimed
