This is so sick... killed it. An example to up and coming bassists as well: Look at the guys right hand. Notice that every time he plays any riff that repeats, he ALWAYS uses the same right hand finger technique. In some parts he alternates, in some he rakes, but the point is he has found the pattern that works for him and then sticks with it. This is exactly how you should learn a song. First, learn YYZ at 80% of the tempo, but make sure your right hand is playing the same thing every single time... only then can you hope of getting the speed to end up playing it as flawlessly as this.
exactly. I know all of YYZ on guitar (but currently am practicing the solo) and I know a decent amount of the bass parts, but as of recently I found a very nice pattern for the main parts of the song on bass, making it “easier” but still sounding spot on :)
Wow, that's impressive. As a teen in 1984, I finally got my first bass (a shiny new black Ric 4003), and spent many hours learning and perfecting that song. If you can play that, you can pretty much play anything.
Jeez - after I pulled myself off the floor from being knocked out by your guitar on Villa I clicked on this. You are absurdly talented. And you must practice like hell. I hope you feel a well earned pride - you killed it!
Literally, going through the same thing right now. Random villa cover pops up, sure I'll watch. Blown the F away. Suggests a yyz cover on bass, no way this could be the same dude. Sure enough. Insane
wow!!!!! everyone has their purpose or calling in this world and life and it looks and sounds like you found yours so grab it hold on and keep on rocking young buck. truly like and have been amazed with your playing and style
That Squier VM 70's jazz sounds fucking beastly. I had to sell mine a couple years ago to make ends meet, but am always hoping to get another. Such good basses. You also have a brutal right hand technique that really brings out that awesome tone.
Still see there's this old fashioned snobbery regarding Fender v's Squier etc. I know it's presumptuous of me to say, but I bet most of the comments are from people whom don't own the latest Squier or have never played one?! The higher quality Vintage Modified and Classic Vibe basses are exceptional for the price. I own the same Squier 70's VM jazz bass as this young virtuoso with the Duncan Designed pickups. Believe you me, it sounds and plays better than my MIM with a lovely fast neck and sounds as good as my US Fender all be it tonally different. You may need to set them up slightly brand new straight off the shelf, but that's all part of the fun tailoring it to your preferences. Try one before you judge and you too could be converted! :-)
Excellent work on this cover and amazing tone. If you don't mind sharing information on how you got your tone, like possibly a VST plugin, etc. Cheers.
I have the same bass! Great job dude holy shit. Your gallop right hand technique is awesome, very Claypool-esque. I wonder if my fingers look like that - you blink and you miss em!
That Jazz Bass has a beautiful TONE! Nicely done.
That bass sounds great. You are 100% correct!
and they don't cost your kidney's either the classic vibe squier's
It sounds like shit tbh.
This is one of the cleanest covers on UA-cam; deserves more views.
The Best YYZ Bass Cover on YT

João De Paula i agree!!

Yeah 3 finger technique for me is key
Damn dude! In the pocket!
Hi

A ric as a first bass? That's quite exceptionnal.
Those things sound great, but man are they awful to maintain and play!
Hahaha, try learning Some between the buried and me
A rickenbacker as your first bass is very overboard
@@ratdad6021 how??
Blew me away man I thought for sure you wouldn't get all those bass fills but you even got the harmonics flawlessly. Wow.
Bro, that tone is fucking awesome!!
Jeez - after I pulled myself off the floor from being knocked out by your guitar on Villa I clicked on this. You are absurdly talented. And you must practice like hell. I hope you feel a well earned pride - you killed it!
Love it when a young man wants to be a musician vs. a pre-recorded beat publisher!! Go man Go!!
Literally, going through the same thing right now. Random villa cover pops up, sure I'll watch. Blown the F away. Suggests a yyz cover on bass, no way this could be the same dude. Sure enough. Insane
@crookedroosterbrewery3436 And I love it when an old man wants to act like one and leave stupid boomer comments on UA-cam 😊
Your notes just... Flow. It's like a creamy caramel. They just flow, yet every single note is so clear and audible. I'm amazed.
Dude!your technique is so freacking clean!
1:56 I’m gonna have to change my pants
Talent beyond your years. So glad young ones are picking up on Rush, their music deserves to live on in coming generations.
Good lord. This kid is crazy good. I bet he's a heck of a flamenco guitar player.
You are an amazing bassist! This was absolutely mind blowing ! Well done and keep posting.
Watched a lot of YYZ covers and you do it the best!!
beautiful tone and your right hand attack is absolutely on point! congratulations man!
That was fucking perfect. This is the only guy that actually nailed perfectly the harmonics in the middle part of the song
those who spent a fortune on a Fender gave deslike
Michael Roberto da Silva I was wondering who gave dislikes.. tks for the help! 👍
it's made by fender
Rob outside looking in - ...duh?
@@blue-tb2fd did you read Michael DaSilva's comment
I can read.
Absolutely incredible! Bravo!!!
Super clean! Great tone!
this has got to be the best advertisement ive seen yet for this bass....good job dude..
I know this was a long time ago, but wow, your tone is HUGE. Nice job.
wow!!!!! everyone has their purpose or calling in this world and life and it looks and sounds like you found yours so grab it hold on and keep on rocking young buck. truly like and have been amazed with your playing and style
Lol I swear you just did the spirit of the radio intro riff at the end there.
killed that shit on a squire
Squire isn't bad, but they're only bad because they don't use the Fender coils and the pots could be better.
theDesync and the screw holes to hold down electronics are cross threaded
theDesync just because he played a squire doesn't mak e it more difficult
I always come back here, the ultimate jazz bass tone
That Squier VM 70's jazz sounds fucking beastly. I had to sell mine a couple years ago to make ends meet, but am always hoping to get another. Such good basses. You also have a brutal right hand technique that really brings out that awesome tone.
