I love YYZ but I've always favored LA Villa. Sentimentally, Hemispheres was the first album that introduced me to Rush As a 14 year old, just learning the bass, Geddy, Chris Squire, Stanley Clarke, John Entwistle and John Paul Jones had such an influence on me. I wanted to learn how to bring the bass outside of the bottom rhythm role forward as a strong front instrument. These experiences have helped me in my playing.
I personally think the solo part....into the 7/4 part...is one of the most powerful movements ever composed. I have been getting body chills and shedding tears over it for my entire life.
There are no mistakes. A piece of this complexity is never played exactly the same way twice. Any guitarist will tell you that. This is as close to studio version as humanly possible if you aren't Alex, and I an sure Alex evolved many parts over the years. Man you are inspiring.
Stunning bit of work there. Mistakes? Nothing worth mentioning. Very impressive to get all this done on a single guitar and in one take as well. Bravo, sir.
I... watched your 7 year old cover... and then...found this.... Geez man. You are putting in some serious work. I love what you have done with your life. Keep going. Much love and respect to you.
Dam, UA-cam algorithm just fed me your video from 7 yrs ago though it was awesome and decided to check out your channel and seen you did a retake and WOW !! new sub, thanks for sharing
So well played! These pitched harmonics with bands, sharp vibratos are just orgasm for my ears. You inspire me to learn harder and, of course, you deserve much more subscribers and views👏
Cool Exit Stage Left version. Sweet CE - I have a couple myself. I've seen Rush many times, but can't say I've seen that played much better than that ;)
Nice chorus! I’m hoping to find a sound similar to that one day so I can play along to songs like this and New World Man, just something about how swirly it sounds that I like
Be proud of your accomplishments on a underrated piece… I’d say Eric would approve. You are missed Neil. May the light of God’s face shine brightly upon you
I listened to the song slowed down to about 40 or 50 percent speed and tried to replicate each note. Watching videos of it being played live in slow motion also helped a lot.
Alex is one of the most unsung guitar heroes of all time. I wish this song was 4 minutes longer!
The tone is really spot on...and the intense vibrato is really similar to Alex. Well studied and performed!

7 years later, still blown away by your playing
Nicely done. You capture the sheet terror in the second guitar solo.

Bad ass.
This is incredible! Where did you learn to play the song so accurately to the live version? From ear?
I listened to the song slowed down to about 40 or 50 percent speed and tried to replicate each note. Watching videos of it being played live in slow motion also helped a lot.
@@jbrooks95I've only been playing for 3 years and La Villa is going to be the next song I learn. Wish me luck, and awesome work dude.
This is probably the best version/cover I've ever seen!!!
So frustrating, I can't even get the three pulloffs on that A chord to sound close.
Awesome ! Which model of the PRS CE 24 is that?
🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
What we plug-in did you use?
Amplitube 5 and FabFilter Pro Q 3.
Bro you played it better than alex lifeson himself wtf
