i met Bret in London in December. meeting one of my childhood heroes was incredible. amazing man. to see both these guys together in one room would be pretty special. two of the greatest
ALL who attended this event are the absolute luckiest WWF/E fans in the world. I'm so glad that these two seemed to have buried the hatchet. They are two of the absolute best. Bless them both.
Bret and Shawn were good friends in the early to mid 90s. But their friendship deteriorated in the mid 90s because Shawn was a prick. Bret said Shawn was crying in the backstage after the screwjob. Shawn also said that he didn't wanna be the guy to be in the ring because of the amount of legit heat he was gonna get. But he still did it with hunter and Vince so that's on him. I'm just glad that these two wrestling icons are able to put aside their differences at last and are able to share stages like these cause they deserve to move on.
Bret is not a mark for himself...he more of a mark for the science of wrestling..his matches tell a story without a word being said..since Bret retired it has become a forgotten art of wrestling..all the superstars that shoot on Bret all day the same thing..(no nonsense wrestling).. Brets the man and will always be the Best there is.. The best there was..And the best there ever will be..
@@Rodzilla97 , when Bret did his Mount Rushmore (GOATS) of the best wrestlers. He didn’t mention himself. He said Piper, Savage, Andre, and Flair. I have to disagree with the notion of him being over obsessive about himself.
I really miss watching wrestling back in the 90s and early 2000's. Especially watching Shawn. Too many wrestlers today have no charisma and personality and average wrestlers. Storylines are were way better years ago. I just dont enjoy watching wrestling anymore unfortunately.
I am glad that these guys made friends again because Brotherhood means everything, Shawn Michael's may need Bret one day and Bret may need Shawn one day, money is not about friendship it shouldn't mean to ruin bond ment over it
I'm a big fan of both but I would have to strongly disagree with you. Shawn in my opinion put on the best match ever against the undertaker a few years ago at wrestlemania.
TheRu5tyNaiL I am with ya. People keep talking about how great of a storyteller teller Bret was with his wrestling, but HBK did as well, case in point his matches with Taker at Mania 25 and 26 as well as the Hell In A Cell match in 97. Watch that whole match again and see for yourself. In particular watch the story unfold with hbk and the cameraman who was inside the cage. He starts out showing frustration with him for getting in his way eventually leading him to attack start beating on him. After attacking him Slaughter and some paramedics come into the cage to take him out to treat him, which leads to Shawn escaping and ultimately leading to the spectacular spot where he falls of the side of the cage. Pure magic. I am a huge fan of both Brett and Shawn, but because of HBK's prima donna attitude, backstage politics, drug use and his high flying moves people tend to forget that HBK was just as good as a storyteller with his matches. I won't say who is better and all that because people will always debate that but HBK deserves credit for his storytelling. Also his matches with Triple H, Jericho and Kurt Angle also show a great story. All praise to both these legends and am glad to see them getting along as well.
hbk had some classic's but imo bret was the best by far his story telling was great he could have a great match with any one wish there could of been a bret vs kurt match that would of been a tru classic
Riki Choshu invented the submission, which he dubbed "Sasori-Gatame" meaning scorping hold, Sting popularized it as the Scorpion Deathlock. Hart's sharpshooter is actually a variation of the move, since the original uses the right leg and doesn't sit down was much, bret's goes with the left leg and crosses the legs around the knees and sits down while applying pressure in the lower back and grapevining the knees, the SDL just holds the ankles and doesn't sit as much.
as a life long WWF fan I have always considered myself to be very lucky to have lived during the time of both the early 90's era up to thru the Attitude era ...watching each and every Monday night to see what would happen next with the two greatest workers in HISTORY was an absolute pleasure. Maybe that's why I despise the WWE now.
well, to me the 80's were just a time of non talented workers, except for a few who could tell a story, most were punch, kick, body slam, finishing move, showboat, flex, and you're out. I'll take the 90's and attitude era ALL DAY LONG over that
Bret Hart invented the leg drop?? You heard it here first folks!! Does this guys arm ever get tired from patting himself on the back?? I'm a fan of both but it's so clear to see them both side by side that Shawn doesn't feel the need to tell you how great he was every other sentence..
I think it's tough for Bret because I think it was such a competition with them and each thought they were the best at one time. Unfortunately for Bret in the end Shawn won.. Bret's life fell apart and Shawn's just got better and better. And while Bret returned at WM26 for the worst match of his career and then had to watch HBK and Taker tear the roof down in the main event and HBK walk off into the sunset being called "The Greatest in ring performer of all time" It's a tough pill to swallow
yea i think Michaels clearly was better. maybe the consensus GOAT. i wish they'd both just realise how good their SS97 match was, and embrace it, it was their best match they ever had, and top 10 for both of them. you'll never see heat like that again with a rivalry, that crowd was insane with hatred for Shawn, and it made it so much better, and the controversial ending was the perfect end to such a bitter rivalry with and Bret leaving to wcw. that was explosive, and easily a top 10 match for both of them. yet they can't be proud of it cause whiney Bret is/was/still all butt hurt about it (like dude you're a fruit loop, it's a a work anyway, there's no real champion, or wins and loses, it's acting. he shouldn't have punched Vince, he should have hugged him and thanked him for making him rich and famous beyond his wildest dreams. no way i could have been mad at Vince for that. Bret was homicidal) embrace that match, it's an all time classic
Yep. There is nobody that likes Bret, more than Bret. He was a great wrestler, but he is always putting himself over in ever interview i have ever seen. He needs to learn to be a little more humble.
I was that this event, it was horribly run, 2 hours of pictures, 20 minutes of q & a, then another wait in line for the signing, the event was over sold, just terribly organized, shawn was great but bret didn't really even say hi when u get to meet him.
Was Bret genuinely the first person to do a leg drop? That seems hard to believe. Also, to the current roster question I'm suprised HBK didn't mention The Rock. HBK vs The Rock is a match a lot of people would love to see.
HBK was apart of the clique back then. They tried to keep Dwayne down career wise. They even tried to book Bret to take the intercontinental championship away from him to kill his push but Bret refused to put himself over. He decided to dq finish his match with the Rock allowing him to hold onto it. The Rock has subtly referred to the clique and these events in a Jungle Cruise interview.
Shawn is a better performer/entertainer Bret is a better wrestler. The problem is Bret missed out on a lot. I know he wrestled Austin, Shawn, Owen taker but chirst the guy worked with alot of shit. He never worked with. Any of the stars from the. 80s like hogan, warrior, Jake, savage or any guys from the guys from attitude era rock, angle, hhh, kane, foley. Who did he wrestle? Lawler and backlund who were great, but past their prime, yankeem, Pierre? Bret hart missed out IMO.
Gemini The Great Bret would wrestle circles around Shawn, Bret came from a legitimate wrestling background and could have gone to the Olympics if he didn't turn pro. No way was Shawn ever even half the wrestler Bret was.
He is basically being sarcastic as in the Calgary stampede he was the first to do all that stuff, that's why he says I came to wwf and Hogan was doing leg drops ! Man think outside the Box a lot of ppl take Bret the wrong way because he comes across as serious that's just him. HE WAS BEING SARCASTIC in his own way, I know it looks bad , but don't hate him.
Watch the video in the sidebar with them sitting together, On that video he talks about shawn bringing kids in the ring and tries to make him out a pervert in that video... I am really getting sick of him being like he is being..
I know man, I like him as well, I don't know whats wrong with him lately, I think he is just not happy anymore, And I know he still holds a Grudge for shawn even thou they made up, it eats at him inside.I think he tries to hard to upstage Shawn and that is what looks so bad.Like when shawn said Danial Bryan , then right after Bret did ..
I'm a huge Bret Hart fan!! But he's really become awful! "I thought of all kinds of stuff.. I think I was the first guy to ever drop a leg drop.. I don't remember anybody doing a leg drop.. I remember doing it for years in Calgary...... When I used to watch wrestling as a kid nobody ever took a front turn buckle.. I know for a fact I was the first guy to knock those big steel stairs over" (Uncomfortable groans and laughs) But hey whatever helps you sleep at night.
Those promoters ought to be disgusted with themselves, how they didn't have a better recording and audio is shameful for these legends

I agree with that man.
He's a mark for himself. But we love him.
Bret Hart is proud of his work. Bret puts over other wrestlers all the time.
no, he's his biggest fan, easily. it's weird
@@Rodzilla97 , when Bret did his Mount Rushmore (GOATS) of the best wrestlers. He didn’t mention himself.

Shawn HBK!!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
I'm a HUGE Bret Hart fan. Grew up watching him.
But he really is a huge mark for himself. As a fan I don't really know how to feel about this.

I loved when he was Tag team partners with Hawk from LOD.
This is one of those videos were I wish the crowd would just stay quiet unless when asking questions.....
People get mad, then forgive, we don't know how he truly thinks in his mind, were all human. His humanity is just more spotlighted.
OWEN OWEN OWEN OWEN

YES HE was in Canada at his Fathers wrestling= Calgary Stampede, he was the first to do all what he said..
I think it's tough for Bret because I think it was such a competition with them and each thought they were the best at one time. Unfortunately for Bret in the end Shawn won.. Bret is so honest, I love it. He'll just tell truth, no b.s. #RespectHisHonesty
So finally letting go and forgiving an ugly incident is a bad thing? I guess holding grudges forever is a good way to live one's life in your opinion?
I was that this event, it was horribly run, 2 hours of pictures, 20 minutes of q & a, then another wait in line for the signing, the event was over sold, just terribly organized, shawn was great but bret didn't really even say hi when u get to meet him.
thumbs up to you sir.
But as for the Sharp shooter, or Stings scorpion Deathlock ! Owen Hart is the one who actually came up with that hold.
Bret Hart said Konnan was the one that showed him the move. Not sure who invented it though.
cool Q&A
Umm... no it was a Japanese wrestler Riki Choshu who created it. Where'd u hear it was Owen???
bret hart invented punching. he was the first guy to throw a punch and he did it better than anybody. before he came along they only did kicking
No Owen invented the hold, I believe you have it mixed up with the STF ! Owen Hart invented the Scorpion deathlock/Sharpshooter..
Was Bret genuinely the first person to do a leg drop? That seems hard to believe. Also, to the current roster question I'm suprised HBK didn't mention The Rock. HBK vs The Rock is a match a lot of people would love to see.
i would have loved to see HBK vs Lesnar
HBK was apart of the clique back then. They tried to keep Dwayne down career wise. They even tried to book Bret to take the intercontinental championship away from him to kill his push but Bret refused to put himself over. He decided to dq finish his match with the Rock allowing him to hold onto it. The Rock has subtly referred to the clique and these events in a Jungle Cruise interview.
Actually Riki Choshu invented the hold
He was speaking about in Calgary, man Bret always gets flak from ppl who don't know how to take him.
No it was Choshu. Look it up, he called it Sasori-Gatame. Lou Thesz invented the STF
Shawn is a better performer/entertainer Bret is a better wrestler. The problem is Bret missed out on a lot. I know he wrestled Austin, Shawn, Owen taker but chirst the guy worked with alot of shit. Bret is as good as anybody! HBK was better high flyer... that's about it
Err, Bret worked with almost all of those guys dude.
Hey, show some respect. Bret invented kicking too!
Damn people! This wasn't an episode of RAW, Smackdown or a live event. Shut up, listen and don't act like marks. (not intended for the video author)
Really? I never knew that
Man stop yelling and being disrespectful.
Watch the video in the sidebar with them sitting together, On that video he talks about shawn bringing kids in the ring and tries to make him out a pervert in that video... I am really getting sick of him being like he is being..
I know RC did the STF by the way as Masa Hiro Chono and Dean Malenko, copied his hold early 90s WCW. I mean I know he created the STF.
Bret Hart has a good heart to do a Q & A Shawn. We could all learn to forgive like Bret did. I met Bret once too, he’s so nice.
You are thinking of the STF.
Lol so much hate for cena still
whoever had the screaming kid in the audience should have been asked to leave
Spencerxo nah, the kid was chill. Parents sometimes don’t have much choice, but want to see their role models.
Shawn bores me in his interviews these days.
