When closed it's like a laptop from 2005!

Does it have as much durability as laptops from 2005 did?

@@gisellemartinez-sanchez3509 probably not, owning a ThinkPad P51 that was released back in 2017 and it's very strong and sturdy, lasts a lifetime!

Great review Lisa. Obviously the third party AC adapter supplier was not given the correct dimensions required for the barrel plug. Wonder what other mistakes there are.

Still running a 10th gen Aero 17. One case fan is bad but it still runs fine.

Can you increase the data capacity to above 4TB by adding another SSD and replacing the included one with an SSD that has higher capacity?

It is expensive for a mid-range gaming laptop, but with premium gaming machines' prices so high, it provides an option for those on a smaller budget. I have read a lot about QC on the net, but this is the 2024 version, so hopefully, it will be better than historic complaints.
Looks like shortlisted material for potential buyers with $2000 to spend and want a 16-inch.

I mean it has one of the best CPUs right now. 32Gb Ram. 2TB SSD and a 4070 Laptop GPU.

7-8 hours? that's quite unbelievable. I may need to reconsider that blade 18/16

It is Optimus so 7 hours on the iGPU and for a 99-watt battery that combo sounds average at best. Many AMD laptops would do a lot better.

I bought the aorus x13 as my main work machine... Nixe idea having that power in a relatively small form factor. However.... Its by far the worst built laptop ive ever used. The build quality is just so bad, the screen fram started peeling off so whenever u open it the screen is coming apart (fixed this with ladies hair pins and glue and works quite well). The whole tink is plasticy, flexes alot makes so much sound like its going to crack at the back when u open and close it, the key lard backlit has simply died, the battery has died and ive replaced it twice, now its only running from the charger whoch also died and ive replaced. Rhe ssd failed and had to be replaced. The inside of the machine (crashed and died and needed a full system restore). The screen is absolutely crap quality material that gets marked easily when u carry it around (it actually has easily seen mey shapes on it from when it closes and rubs the keys - how bad can u design something??) It now sits there to run downloads and movies connected to a tv and thats all its good for. Do not buy an aorus

I own the Aorus 17X. It came with Intel 13980HX/RTX 4090 combo, 32G of RAM, and 2TB M.2 NVME storage. Build quality is very good and performance is excellent (in no small part due to seriously impressive cooling).
Things I don't like are the screen and speakers. Don't get me wrong, the screen is color accurate and nice to look at, but otherwise fails to impress. It's also pretty dim (sub 300 nits), which is a damn shame given the price of this thing. Speakers are absolute garbage. Nothing more to say about that. Both aren't deal breakers if you use it as a desktop replacement since you will use external screen and speakers.

Yeah I feel you. I bought an ASUS Zephyrus m16 with an i9 and a RTX 3070, 32 GB RAM, and a 2 TB NVME. The laptop is fine when talking about performance and such. But the keyboard backlighting looks cheap. and I had issues with the Dolby access AI SUPER noise cancelling audio bs. I had the worst sound from the speakers ever. I tried everything to fix it and nothing worked. Then one day the speakers worked fine again without me doing anything. I also had issues with ASUS armory crate not working correctly. Its supposed to switch the RTX 3070 off and on, depending if its plugged in or not. That wouldn't work sometimes. I had to an RMA one time because the drive died completely. Also the keyboard for the FN keys don't make any sense for me. Why can't I invert the fn keys. Why do I need a shortcut for the backlight when all I want is white. Why do I need a shortcut for Airplane mode. This thing pulls 240 watts I can't plug that into the airplane?? Why is mute (F1) but volume up and down have their own keys above the FN keys? For this money I could have bought a Macbook Air m3 16" 250 GB and a STEAM Deck 1 TB OLED. I don't think I will be buying a gaming laptop again. LOL

@@Espen_1995 wow, that sucks. Doesn't your laptop have Optimus? Because mine changes from integrated graphics to the 4090 automatically. Yeah, the Gygabyte software isn't any better, I'll tell you that. And my secondary function keys don't even light up. It's as if Gygabyte forgot about them (absurd).
As for Apple, that is a no go for me. I do not like how you are locked into the Apple ecosystem, and graphics aren't great on Apple laptops, either. Also, barely any games are supported, and I game a lot, so...

    • @Espen_1995
      @Espen_1995 Місяць тому

@@Rapunzel879 No the Optimus thing works fine now but when I first got it there was some issues with it.
Im also not the biggest fan of apple computers. I had a Macbook pro from 2011 that thing was awesome. Both ram was upgrade able and you could remove the CD drive for an extra hard drive or an SSD. But I was just thinking apple laptops are good at being nice laptops. Nice screen, nice battery life and nice build quality, and then play on steam Deck. But I Steam Deck didn't exist when I bought ASUS.
Im going to keep my ASUS Zephyrus though because it has 2 tb and it is great for when I go sailing. Also because I paid 2000 for the fucking thing xD.

The gaming laptops today are all bad. A ton of bloatware like Armory create and such. Dolby access dosen't work correctly on my Asus Zephyrus m16 or the g15. I don't want Dolby access AI audio bs I just want stereo sound that's it. I get it people want to be able to play games on the go. ok but I think it's better to buy a Dell XPS or a MacBook Air m3 16" with 250 GB and then get a Steam Deck OLED 1 TB. And yes you can get what I just told you for the price of ONE gaming Laptop when we are talking Asus zephyrus money. Look the steam deck on papir is not as powerfull. But I had far more fun playing on that then the 95 Celsius JET laptop.
