DIY Floral Runner for window seal, fireplace mantle, or table runner using a 27'' Oasis Raquette.
- I start by soaking the foam (plastic on) for 30 minutes or so.
- HEAVILY GREEN, I used 4 bunches of salal tips and 2 bu of seeded euc.
- Then back-fill with flowers from large to small. I used about 10 hydrangea, 25 roses, and extra sprigs of wax flower that were leftovers.
- Approx. cost of this 8ft floral runner was $125.

Fantastic~~
Thank you for sharing.
What an interesting and informative video. I was looking for something for a church wedding and I think it’s perfect for that as they don’t allow anything higher than 11”. It’s lushes and beautiful. Thanks for the count and tips. You’ve got a new subscriber now. Thanks again 😊
Hey, thank you for the affirmation, and I'm thrilled it was helpful! It always is a delight to find nice internet people! Feel free to email if you have questions at hello@flowermoxie.com
Thanks Amy☺
Hi Amy, can you please add the names of the roses you’ve used. Thanks 🙏
I followed your tutorial and it came out amazing, thank you 💕💕💕
THAT'S AWESOME! Thank you for letting me know, and feel free to tag us or DM pics on Insta so we can see your fine work!
@@FlowerMoxie you're welcome! And thank you again. I DM'ed you on Insta 💕💕💕
That’s beautiful
Thank you for your kind comment!
thank you for sharing this video. will you be sharing bouquet making videos as well?
Very good
Can you do a video showing how it would look if used as a table runner? Thanks and I love your videos! I will be placing a order soon!
Such a great idea, will do! In the meantime, feel free to email us and we'll be happy to help you come up with the amounts you need to do it as a runner!
@@amymccord6480 Great! I sure will! Thank you so much!
Wow nice
Thank you!!
This is beautiful! Can this be used as a hanging piece on exposed beam? And can most flowers and foliage be done and added to the foam the day before (with the exception of the hydrangea as you mention in your video)?
You know, I don't know if the plastic is built out with little holes for hooks or nails. I'd probably use an Oasis Foam cage, or Oasis foam garland which is great!

Hey! Is it possible to hang them on stairs handles? Will they be too heavy if I used some zip ties?
THAAANKS :)
If they were hanging on the side I think it'd be too heavy, but it could work on top. Personally, I would use Oasis Foam Garland...it's not cheap, but it's legit, and I take the same approach by heavily greening and then adding my blooms: www.wholesalefloral.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=P-SM1065&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIrN-21MqB1gIVDH1-Ch3lywdeEAQYASABEgILifD_BwE
You can also do smaller cages: flowermoxie.com/collections/supplies/products/wet-foam-cage
omgg thank you so much for replying!
I would love to do this for the head table for my daughter's wedding in April but half the length. So would it be half of the flowers/cost? Thank you!
Probably not by much because you''ll have to fill out all sides. But, you can heavily green it, and reduce the florals for cost savings!
Amy, my daughter’s wedding has an arbor with a steel pipe structure that I was thinking of attaching these to. My question is can you put flowers in the bottom of it, or will the water leak down if you do?
I would use floral foam cages or floral foam garland. The raquette will be too heavy, and there's not a good way to attach it to a structure. I have another arch video using all of the items mentioned...also, I show what Southern Smilax can do, which is great for installs. When can get this for you if need be. Best! Amy
Hello :) I was wondering how much such a beautiful decoration costs? thank you for your answer :) it looks sooooooooo nice
You'll probably spend about $150!
Can you use any greens that you have on hand? Which work best in the oasis?
Most greens will hold up great, with the exception of Dusty Miller. You can also forage greens.
Thank you for this tutorial. are these standard size hyndrangeas or larger stems?
They are premium hydrangeas, so they are a bit larger....but they are not the jumbo hydrangeas!
@@amymccord6480 thank you for responding
Could these be used to line the aisle, or would you recommend a different size/length for that? Thank you!
Nice.vedeo masha.allah
If you had excess water in the container/oasis would you leave the hydrangea in the oasis?
In the winter when you can leave it in a really cool spot like your garage, yes. In hot weather months, they can struggle-bus within a few hours. I design with the hydrangeas, then take them out and pop them in a vase of water and just pop them back in before the wedding. It's really easy to figure out where they should go because you'll have big holes. =)
Personally, I play it a bit safe because I don't want the flowers to go south halfway through the event.
thanks for sharing! i'm DIYing my wedding gazebo flower decoration. Would I use 27 inch or several pieces of those (and then glue them?) foam for the top and appropriate lengths of foam for 2 sides of gazebo? do those foam pieces have holes for zip ties?
For a gazebo I'd recommend using Large Floral Foam Cages and zip tie the snot out of them! Look up my arch video!
And yep, the foam cages have holes for nails or hooks, but I tend to use zip ties. =)
@@FlowerMoxie many thanks!!
Do you need to soak them if using artificial flowers? Thanks!
Nope! =)
If i recreate this using standard foam and brick trays, how long will the flowers last? If i soak the foam and then cover with plastic wrap, would that work as a cheaper alternative? Those raquettes are definitely more expensive
I don't see anything wrong with that idea! Whether you do that or use the raquettes, your vase life will not be that long because the foam is not in a vessel of water. I'd suggest creating the day before....unless you have a cooler, and then you can do 2 days.
Quick question… the plastic, did you shrink wrap that yourself???
No, those come like that. They are Oasis foam raquettes. Honestly, my new favorite thing to use to create the same thing that is eco-friendly is using Oshun Pouches in Lomey Design bowls, and cheaper!
Beautiful! Do you have any shoulder corsage videos?
I do! Just go to our video page!
Where did you get your foam? So are you able to do this the day before a wedding if you have eucalyptus, white roses, and baby's breathe? Will this hold up on a fire place mantel, is there chance it will tip over?
I get it at my wholesaler, you can snag it online, tho! Yes, you can totally make it the day before. It's pretty stable once you have greens and flowers going upright so you shouldn't worry about tipping.
Hi! Can you do this as an aisle runner? Or what flowers do you recommend for a boho runner with pampas
You could absolutely do this technique for an aisle runner! Boho could work for anything here! We love whites and neutrals paired together or if you're looking for a more colorful look, peaches and dusty blues with soft dusty pinks work too! We recommend working with flowers that are hardier for runners, especially going down an aisle. Roses, carnations, cremones, snapdragons and mums will all work great!
😍😍😍
Hou. Super
Hello, thank you so much for this informational video. Would you happen to remember how many stems were in each bunch of salal?
Salal is sold as a 'growers bunch', not stem count. If you look on our site, we have great product photos of this! There are salal tips and standard salal. The tips are prettier and smaller, but you get less....while the standard has larger leaves, can sometimes look rougher, but you get a ton. For installs like this I go with Standard Salal.....for bouquets and small centerpieces I use tips!
Flower Moxie Thank you sooooo much for your response, wasn’t expecting it (especially not so fast). Please confirm if you used 4 bunches of standard salal or 4 bunches of salal tips for this installation.
@@osamedeoviawe2947 I used standard!
How long will the flower last? Can your prep this the night before an event?
Yes, you can definitely create this the night before! If it's a hot weather month, put it in a cool room and mist down with Crowning Glory and don't use hydrangea.
Overall, it will look good for at least one day, will probably last two, but will start to fade quick.
Would it be cheaper to do this or a garland with flowers added?
Hmmm...garland typically runs $12-15 per foot and then you'd have to factor in the blooms. I think it would probably be a bit less spendy, but you wouldn't get the profile/height...it would lay much lower. You could always forage greenery to bring down the price a bit!
How many of the 27" oasis raquettes did you use to make this 7-8' as said in the video?
I used 3 and spaced them out!
@@FlowerMoxie Thank you for the quick response!
Hi!! Do I Need to buy the plastic tray separate ? I only found the 27” foam covered in plastic but I can’t find the plastic tray you mentioned at the beginning. Thank you !!!
The tray is built-in!
Amy McCord thank you for your quick response.
The one I found is:
Oasis 27 Inch Raquette Holder Spray Bar Wet Floral Foam 1 Bar www.amazon.com/dp/B018IJ9ZXM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_ZNiwBb55K1TBB
Will I be okay just buying pieces of these ? Thank you for your help
Yup!
Can you please let me know The recipe above for flowers can cover the whole foam. Thank you very much. I love all your videos, keep watching over and over.
Thank you so much! In this video, we only focused mainly on the front of the floral foam bricks, since the runner was front facing and the back wouldn't be seen. This recipe would absolutely cover all of the foam but you will want to cut the stems shorter to ensure that they are covering as much surface area as possible! If you wanted to make the design more floral heavy, consider adding in 20-25 carnations and 10-15 spray roses, to add more to the design.
Thank you very much for your fast reply.
Hi! Do you recommend the raquettes for making a flower bar across the front of a pipe and drape chuppah? It needs to be about 18" - 24" tall, but just not sure if this would get too heavy on the piping across a 10' -12' span. Any insight or advice would be much appreciated! thank you!
Nope, that would be too heavy. I'd recommend using small Oasis Igloos or better yet, the Oasis garland! The garland is kinda spendy, but you get a lot of it, and it's very easy to attach the sections and to fill out.
Can we use about 5 floral cages on the front of the pipe and drape? Maybe attaché it to wooden strip and zip tie on the day of the event?
Love it!! Where can I get the plastic wrap please? I'm doing a table runner for a sweetheart table and the runner has to come down on each side of the table. I'm kind of scared the water will leak all around 😳 how to prevent that please?
All fresh flowers and greens btw
So they have been hard to find since the pandy, but what you could use instead is an Oasis Brick Tray. We have several sizes:

Hello I have a question : I want to do the same for my wedding. To same money I will do it myself. The ceremony will be the saturday. Do you think, the flower will be ok if I do it the previous day? I also want to use the same flowers as yours
Yep! Just make sure you soak your raquettes for an hour in the tub (because your sink isn't big enough). Avoid putting in hydrangeas until right before because the foam does not supply enough water. Other flowers/greens should hold up just fine! If it's a hot-weather month, then buy a bottle of Crowning Glory Floral Spray, and that will help keep'em fresh!
I used Salal, Quicksand Roses, Vendela Roses, and Wax flower!
@@amymccord6480 thank you very much 🙂
how do you hang this on a wedding arch...
The raquettes would be too big and cumbersome. You'll want to use a foam cage and use zip ties, I have an Arch video for this, too!
www.amazon.com/Syndicate-Sales-Foam-Mate-Brick/dp/B00I4QOOU4/ref=sr_1_3?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1523456482&sr=1-3&keywords=floral+foam+cage
What foam or sponge should i use for artificial flower? I need an immediate answer please
Just get dry foam from Michael's or Hobby Lobby.
@@FlowerMoxie Thanks a lot
Hi do I need to use a cage if I am making a Garland for a gazebo with artificial flowers please?
nice but not possible in my country
Hi! I have a dumb question. Could this be used for a grounded floral arch? Thanks!
Absolutely! You'll just want to elevate your greenery and flower stems. I would use some taller stems like Delphinium and Snapdragons for height too! XXXX
@@FlowerMoxie Awesome! We're thinking of doing the lavender and eggplant package!
What is the name of the small tiny flowers? Thanks!
Wax flower!
Did you soaked the foam with plastic wrap around it?
Yes! It has little holes so the water gets in.....you want to leave the plastic on because it keeps the foam hydrated longer.
are you guys ship bulk flower to Canada?
@@efarzaneh We can ship to cities on the US boarder and you can pick up from there and take it across. I can't ship into Canada because customs will hold it for a day or so and the flowers don't like that.
It's legal to take cut flowers across, however, if you email us we can send you all the supporting information on this!
@@efarzaneh Also, in the other video, I'm using a 5'-6'' vase, which is a great size! You always want more flowers than vase so avoid the big ones! XO
If you’re the bride, who would you have add the hydrangeas back in on the wedding day before the ceremony? This would be a dream aisle “runner”
I would have my most creative/type A friend who is not involved in your wedding party add the hydrangea back in on the day of! Ideally, this person has helped you with other design elements of your wedding flowers and you've put them in charge of flower placement for the wedding day itself. Don't have this be a mom or bridesmaid or even your wedding coordinator, they're going to be doing lots of other things with you and for you the day of the wedding! Designate this task to a trusted friend or aunt who doesn't have any other day of wedding tasks!
What was your filler flower? Thanks! :)
I used Roses, Hydrangea, and Wax flower!
Love this! How would you transport this ? I am diying my wedding decor and would need to transport to the venue.
Thank you! Raquettes can easily be picked up and placed in your car! You may want to lay down an old towel because they can leak a little, but they are super easy to transport because the plastic holds the foam together and there's a solid plastic tray on the bottom.

@@FlowerMoxie Awesome, thank you!

Flower Moxie, what variety of rose is this please?
It looks like I used Early Grey roses.....it may be Quicksand, but they kinda look grey. Sorry I don't remember for sure!
@@FlowerMoxie well thanks so much for responding!! Much appreciated!!!
Hi Flower Moxie, can you please tell me the kind of giant roses that you used? Cheers
Those are Early Grey roses that we sell on our site! I set them out 2 days prior so they blow out big!
You have made me fall in love with Early Grey roses! I've never seen them open like this. What are the pinky creamy roses you used? Can we order flowers from you?
Cream Vendella roses!!!! They are another fave of mine, they give off a blush cream color, I love'em!
Of course you can order flowers from us at www.flowermoxie.com
What is the name of the rose?
Quicksand roses
How to fix it to screen
Oh girl, those are probably too heavy! I would suggest using Oasis foam garland, igloos, or smaller foam cages....and I always attach using zip ties! We have a pergola tutorial but you have to keep in mind what you're attaching it to, so for something more flimsy it's best to go with smaller blocks of foam. OR, you can do floral chicken wire and just stuff the greenery and flowers in....use water picks for the flowers.
Flowers at 3:40?? Those mini ones
zedkay Khan i believe it’s wax flowers :)
Are this real Roses or artificial??
They're real!
Thumbs down because you didn't show how you did that green foam
I sat the foam raquette on the ledge.....confused about what else I could have shown. But thanks for the petty thumbs down on the free tutorial! If you enjoy creative content, then put your own out into the world for people to appreciate or judge, it's eye-opening. All the good, Amy
