  • The Encore wood stove provides more than heat: it’s a skillfully crafted, timeless piece of furniture. Great design bridges beauty and utility, and a finely-fashioned exterior with classic curves and smooth cast iron finish complements features made with care. Function is an art of its own, and our dedication to the wood stove experience results in components designed with convenience in mind.

We’ve had our Encore in our Vermont home for two seasons and now preparing for the 2020-21 season. We cherish our red enamel stove and look forward to enjoying the fire. When sitting near the stove we often use the screen to really enjoy the view of the flames and a more intense sound of the burning logs. It’s our primary source of heat. Grew up with a Defiant and this is now my 3rd Vermont Casting product. Quality craftsman and materials. Our stove is installed per code - and then some. Safety is important to us so that we can fully enjoy the experience and daily use.

Bought mine last fall, I've used several stoves over the decades and this is seriously the best.
Small fire, or larger load works great.
    Very heavy casting 475 lbs.
    Easiest stove to use.
Not cheap but worth the money.

Beautiful! I had one once before so as the saying goes “Once you’ve had the best
    Nothing else will do”
I’m retired so I will keep my memories and buy a lesser 😕

I would also like to know if you can cook on it?

Yes you can. You have to really stay with it as the temp is going to be wherever the burn intensity in the stove is. So, you cannot regulate it fast at all but by moving the pot to the side gives you some control. You may be able to make or buy something that would allow you to bring the pot off the surfss as we slightly to lower temperature like a trivet etc. I have cooked a large pot of chili on mine all day with a low fire. I sometimes have to leave top open slightly on the pot if it gets too hot. And I cook it on the side where the cast iron is not quite as hot as the griddle in the middle.

Yes, you can definitely cook on top of the stove with a cast iron skillet or Dutch oven. Love cooking my eggs on the wood stove. For some reason, they taste way better than when I cook them in a stainless steel pan on the electric stove.
