Just a quick recommendation from a Canadian customer. My wife and I bought a La Nordica Suprema wood cookstove from Obadiah's about four or five years ago. We're very happy with the stove, and Woody at Obadiah's was very good, answering all my wife's questions and making sure our new purchase made it safely to us out here in the boonies of British Columbia. A great company to deal with!
I’m in northern BC and planning on building a new home. We want a second wood cook stove to supplement the heating and cooking needs. Any other suggestions or experience in ordering that you could provide me?
Such beauty and lines, love the fact that the elmira can be hooked into water supply and using the gas burners during summer months is awesome. Well done, bravo.
Everybody used to 😉 Far enough back. Im 70 now My grandparents, both sides. Had no running water in their homes until I was 12 and 14 on ranches in south East Kansas. Wood stove cooking and heat was all they had.
@@soillife1I'm 59 and we didn't get running water inside til I was in 4th grade, wood heat and Cookstove by my 2nd grade year, Yeah I don't miss the outhouse at all! 😂😂
Dang...known of these for years...but never realized that's why my house chimney is where it is. It's closed off now for years...but it's literally in the kitchen. It's a very old house. Ha. I should bust the sheet rock out and use the chimney and this stove again. Ha
I have always liked the looks of the Elmira stoves and the added feature of the gas burners for quick cooking. Thanks for another informative video, Sarah!!!
I had a cook stove that you could turn the grates over so one side would burn wood the other way it could burn coal. It was all cast iron and the color was a blue/ gray enamel and chrome trim with the cast iron top with various size lids that you could open and put your pot or skillet over if you wanted or just keep it closed up .It also had warming oven . Very nice even if it was 70 years old and that was 30 years ago so that cast iron stove is 100 years old now. I do not remember the name of it because I too am 70 years old . I heated and cooked on it during winter months in Pa.
Yes, we actually sell many different models. Its always good to have a backup heating/cooking source. All of the models can be viewed on our website here: www.discountstoves.net/wood-cook-stoves-s/37.htm
Wowzer im home sick for mama's cooking now... All us kids had ta chop wood to feed ma's kitchen stove granny's too.. It was just a part of growing up.. Sure do miss home Wyoming...
Beautiful Stoves, that add to the appearance of a Kitchen or living room with a rustic and warm look. Very nice to have one of these stoves if the Electricity goes out for warmth and cooking if needed.
Could you give me more information I would like to purchase one from where her I can get a hold of one I appreciate that other than that that’s good very good
In which other video do you go into more detail about the gasket on the Elmira for increasing the burn time? I did, after watching this video, and after speaking to you on the phone, go out and get some 1/4-in flat gasket and installed it, but it has not made any difference in how long my fire will burn overnight. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong. Any ideas?
I have a question. I am lookimg at one of your smaller stove/ovens and it is covered in chrome. This stove/oven is perfect, but I like my stoves to look like a traditional cast iron stove and was wondering if i could order one without the chrome on it. Or if i could just take it off myself.
@@ObadiahsWoodstovesTroy i was taking about the concept air two mini. The whole front is lined wirh chrome or stainless steel. CanI have the option to have it traditional? I'm old school and hate the flashy junk.
Yes! We are locate in Kalispell, MT. However, most of our products on our website include free shipping. This JA Roby can be viewed on our website here: www.discountstoves.net/J-A-Roby-Chief-EPA-Wood-Burning-Cookstove-p/cbch.htm Prices includes free delivery in lower 48 and no sales tax.
Being that you are in a city, you will likely have to purchase the wood. You will need to check locally to see what prices are for wood if its cost effective or not.
Not at this time. There are stoves that are built as a suite that could be set side by side, such as the Rizzoli line. I'm looking into a cookstove with electric cook top, but the oven will always be solid fuel.
I tried to comment a few minutes ago but now I can't find it to edit it. Maybe it's buried in there amongst the 157 messages that are on here so far. I will try to recap. I spoke to you a few days ago, from British Columbia, regarding the Elmira Fireview that I have. Mine is almost the same as the one in the video except I don't have the gas burner option. I already have a gas stove separately. Anyway we were talking about the possibility of me ordering some fire brick from you to replace the badly cracked one at the back of my stoves firebox. I can only order the whole kit through Elmira in Ontario and the cost is unbelievably high. I don't need the whole kit, I just need brick for the back. Also, I do wonder if it is possible to use regular brick and not worry about that little dip down part at the bottom, or would it be a problem over time having that little space not be covered by fire brick? You mentioned in the video about adding gasket to the cooktop in order to increase the burn time to as much as 12 hours? That is absolutely fascinating to me. I've only been able to get about 5 or 6 hours on a fully stoked firebox. I went to the local Home Hardware yesterday and found that they had 5/8 inch gasket with adhesive in a kit. It looks thick, so I didn't buy it. You had mentioned on the phone that it was a quarter inch gasket. Either way, that seems really thick. Am I supposed to put it all the way around all of the cooktop plates, or just the one over the firebox? You had mentioned you would email me but I'm wondering if perhaps you got the address wrong. Let me know if you attempted. I don't see anything at all in my inbox or spam.
