Hi you've been doing a great job with the defender. I did this years ago & found a good tip that l found myself. Redo the tinting has you did before. Leave it for a few hours to dry, then raid your partners nail varnish & find the clear varnish. Then go around the edge to seal the tint to the glass. I would then leave this over night to further dry then refit everything the next day. I know it's a pain to leave overnight but see what you think. Never had a problem with the tint coming off myself. Just a suggestion.
@Juice Motors, I Just started a 200tdi restoration, being from the UK but currently living in Florida, we tint 90% of our vehicles. Place the tint outside down on the window, cut to size leaving 2-3 cm around each edge. Spray with soapy solution and flip the tint over into position. Squeezgy as much air bubbles and soapy solution out from the middle as possible (some minor air bubbles are ok). Use heat if necessary to assist with placement and removal of air etc. once finished and 95% of the air/water removed, you can trim to size using a razor blade around the edge of the window.. I like to leave mine out of in the sun/heat of a radiator if its not sunny outside or some form of heat for 3 days or so that they 100% cure, especially windows that move such as the front door etc. (those are typically tinted in situ so just put masking tape over the power window switch so no-one uses it for 72 hours. All small bubbles will disappear in that time.and you should have any issues. If any you can use a heat gun to remove any left over. Also, becareful of the type of tint you use as some cheaper ones can block radio frequency and mobile reception. 3M and Lexen products are the go to for top of the range products IMO!, ALSO NEVER CLEAN TINTED WINDOWS WITH AMMONIA BASED WINDOW CLEANER, MAKE SURE IT STATES SAFE FOR TINTED WINDOWS ON THE BOTTLE..... Hope that was of some help to you! Great job on the build, I hope that one day mine looks similar to yours. dealing with the dreaded rusted criosssmembers and 28 year old breaks and springs at the moment!!
The car is looking great! That shape is timeless and the updates are complementing it beautifully. I wish I had one myself to do, in the meantime I'm loving the videos. Thanks
Nice job I have been watching you from the begining of thr project, when you tint glass you need to leave a border around the glass so the tint don't go under the seal and you will not have the peeling back when he window is closed. Fit the glass in the frame and apply the tint while the windows are closed one at a time and you will have a neat border and no peling when you close it
Fantastic looking wagon. Great piece of work and a distinctive approach. I bet you are so proud of that and all the obvious hard work and passion that's gone into the build!
Another great video Sam. You do fantastic work with immensely good quality and attention to detail. Your channel is great, don’t doubt that. Thank you for sharing.
It looks great. But have you thought about painting the snorkel gloss black as well to go with all the other shiny parts? It’s the only Matt/plastic looking thing on the exterior.
Interesting thought, I think the snorkel suits the tyres and bumper as these are a flat black, the texture on the snorkel would make it look very weird if I were to paint it. I think the functionality of the snorkel pulls the image together without having to paint 🙂
What we do, when we install snorkels, is install diff and gearbox, transfer case breathers. While youre running along, obviously, your diffs and gearbox/tfc get hot and the oil expands. When you run through water, everything cools and tries to suck in air, but gets water instead...
Hi Sam, when you do the tint of the rear sliders and you mention the strip in the middle being an issue...tint up to the strip inside as then use a black vinyl strip on the outside of the glass to blend it in 👍 that’s what the tinting company did for mine and they specialise in landys. Usually give the customer the option of Matt or vinyl for the strip.
You have installed exactly the same winch and bumper as I have on my Puma 90. I found the winch junction box will slip down to the back left and the grill will hold it in place so no cutting required and, the black elastic weather case fot the winch saves painting👍👍
Well done good job! I cannot believe what the management of Land Rover Defender were thinking and discontinued this style to the current model, being forced into our throats
You know those black boxes on winches? They house a (generally) waterproof solenoid and can be mounted into some really tight places, place where you dont have to hack the grille apart for.
Your drilled holes but did not paint them? But how does that snorkel work as its got vents intake at normal hight snorkel is ment to be sealed and normal intake level. I got to say i like the flush side glass on tge land rover. Think it looks better, but you loose ventilation. Wish they did flush glass one like on vans with a glass opening portal.
Another excellent video - keep up the great work! Solid content, likeable host, good editing and most of all - informative. I've been watching your channel for a while now and have really learnt alot about how to upgrade Defenders, which I'll be putting to use soon. I've had this exact same rattly window problem on my Td5 - now I know how to fix it, so thanks!
i just came across your channel today, subscribed it straight away, im am a dead fan of LD D and seriously looking to get one. Thanks for your amazing videos...keep it goin
Fairly new to your channel. Watched the last half dozen or so. Once this Land Rover is completed will you go through build cost, your labour and what you’d be looking for if you were to put it up for sale?
Hi, your car looks great and you made a very good job. What me surprised was that you didn’t sanded the parts before painting. I would do that two times in minimum.
Looking really good...my only change would be to install a stubby black antenna....replace that silver rod thing, they detract from the visual...all this black work with a.....silver antenna..?...I have a tiny one on Jeep TJ.....just pops the body lines of the vehicle
Looking absolutely fantastic! I raised my Puma, added -32 modulars with the flatdog flexi arches also. Slight problem... after a week.in the hot weather we had, the arches lost their shape and now look terrible 😫. Can anyone tell me what paint should be used to paint them???? Mine were painted by a Bodyworks shop locally with Max Meyer aquamax. Such a shame as it looked 👌 for about a week
Enjoyed that video, but can I be a pain and ask a question? I want to change the turbo cartridge on my P38 Range Rover diesel, if I do does it need balancing afterwards? Cheers, Tom.
Hey mate, big fan of the rebuild. I also drive an old td5 that was brought back from the dead down in Aus... I'm wondering what brand of rear ladder you put on her? It's exactly what i've been looking to bolt onto mine. Thanks
Another great video sam, looking forward to the finished look 👍🏻can you tell me which seat covers you used for the rear seats please ? I have been looking for some fitted ones, but cant find any that look as they fit as well as the ones you have thanks.
As you know these great Defenders quite well, do you know if the doors from a gen3 defender with manual windows is the same as the electric variant? Working on a defender which needs a door replacement! Loving the vids, they're helping me work on these cars a lot!
Great job as always, loving the build. Looking forward to seeing how you overcome the tint as that's on my list to do. Just fitted a roof rack and bottom plates and mounted the spare wheel on top. Now going for a roof top box. Not sure about the snorkel as I think it restricts the air, what do you think ?
Fantastic - really enjoyed this build. Would you consider a commission for a similar build on a 110? Had planned to buy the new Defender but it is not even worthy of the name. So thinking a rebuild of a 110 would be a good stop-gap until the Grenadier is officially on the market!
Just found your channel great story so far! I'm in the US and I'm looking to Import a 96' 110 through a reputable importer that does restorations. There are some things I can wait on but for the most part I will have the company tackle the larger projects. Make sure mechanically the motor and any little rust issues are taken care of, chassis is sprayed and sealed to prevent further rust and the vehicle is reliable and drives solid. I'm contemplating doing more of the work myself such as dash refurbish, new interior ect. How experienced does one have to be to work on these trucks. I'm pretty resourceful "youtube" and forums and can figure stuff out. Just want to know what I might be getting involved with. I like the idea of doing it my way and having something unique.
Hi juice love what you did with defender crazy cool man. been trying to get one defender For myself I'm a engineer and been traveling for the last four years from state to state in some of the worst road conditions..
Looking lovely .... I actually have mine without the plastic headlamp surrounds on .....Gives it a bit more of a mean military look .....but that's just me ! 😁👍

This is what I needed to read! Much appreciated, I’ll put this tip to use! Thank you so much & I appreciate your support!
Might have to resupply partners nail varnish collection afterwards mind lol
so when you need to remove it later - nightmare
@@stephenthomson2196 nope not at all Stanley blade does the job.
45 degree angle going down the side of the glass does the trick
@@John-dz5dv Acetone melts nail varnish too, its the main ingredient of nail varnish remover, you can buy 99.99% stuff on ebay for a few quid
I'd love to visit your shop. loving the work you do.
Welcome anytime! 💛
At the end of this build could you tell us the cost of this build ?
Did he ever say, I can’t seem to find it?
That is a classic defender with modern upgrades, anyone would be proud to own!!!! Nice Job Sir!!!!!

I can see where your enthusiasm comes from this Landy gets better and better every video - Love it
brilliant job Sam
The car is looking great! That shape is timeless and the updates are complementing it beautifully. I wish I had one myself to do, in the meantime I'm loving the videos.
Thanks
Thanks Alex!
You did it again: made my day. You can get doublet black tinted glass from every car glass supplier. Good job as usual!

Juice Motors argh forgot about the texture. Yes even if painted it wouldn’t quite look like the rest of the gloss black parts.
What a way to start a Monday. It's looking great!
Thank you! 😍

Really great video as usual you really knocked this one out of the park would give anything to have this Landy well done
The TerrafirMa snorkel looks great - good choice - love their kit! Proper stuff!!
Thank you! 🥰

Love everything on this car bar the puma bonnet
This machine looks AMAZING. Keep up the good work.👍👍
Fit PORTALS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- Double the Off Road Performance
A real great job, well done !
Love the car - the front end in particular looks great!
God this is beautiful. Just bought a 110. Can’t wait to add some bits. Can I ask what steering wheel that is? Thanks!
You know those black boxes on winches? They house a (generally) waterproof solenoid and can be mounted into some really tight places, place where you dont have to hack the grille apart for.
Needs wider mud flaps and stainless bolts on a winch bumper bit sketchy, better with high tensile ones. Nice job mate 👍👍👍👍👍
RISULTATO FINALE STREPITOSO, LAVORO SVOLTO CON GRANDE PROFESSIONALITA' ED ENTUSIASMO..........10+++
Loving the build. Could you please add a complete build list of all the main parts and where you got them?
Your drilled holes but did not paint them?

Great job man, I need to do same on my defender 110
Pretty sure that winch was 24v given the printing on the box in the previous video, maybe why it didn't run?

Is that a standard winch bumper as opposed to an a/c one?
EXCELLENT JOB!
Quick observation... was the flash of the light bar at 16:00 mark in the video intentional? Loose wire?
I flicked the switch 😎
