Just an FYI - if using for plants you almost always want a 10 degree drop and more to initiate blooming. In fact for some orchids (Phalaenopsis) they will want a chilling period - say 62 degrees for 3 weeks. If you don’t drop the temp but just let the normal night day cycle drop the temp a couple of degrees, you may not get any blooming, or just one spike. By being consistent and at the 62F for example you can cause multiple spikes. Once spikes have initiated you can go back to regular night drop versus entire day drop. Also if you want to use the alarm bit it’s no where near your bedroom or living room - look for a used baby monitor - usually really cheap used and you can set it up so you will be able to hear it as needed. Just make sure you have all the parts including the base and the monitor piece where you hear out of and make sure it all works. Another option is to check with young friends who have had several children (or grandchildren) and those days are over - might get free. These baby monitors seem to last for years or at least the regular ones did. Can’t speak to the fancy dan digital with all the cameras and bells and whistles.

Our Herpstat 2's and Herpstat 4's are most popular now.

So I'm getting 2 herpstat for my pro products radiant heat panels. But I have no clue which one I should buy. I also have lights a Mist system and a fan system. The mist and fans are on a separate device. So could I just get the herpstat 1 for each enclosure. They are in separate rooms so I will need separate thermostats. Down the line I plan on buying one of the herpstat that can control all of that stuff but for now I just need lights and heat panel. So I'm thinking just buying two of the one but wanted to see your opinion cuz I'm clueless on this ship

Ve-300 has night drop and costs the same as the Herpstat 1 at 139.99.

Herpstat 1 is better because it has pulse and dimming and has better security so no one can miss with your temperature

Can you use a regular zoo med thermostat ??? Please help I’m looking for a good thermostat for my rack and only have a zoo med thermostat

Temporarily. Any thermostat is better than nothing but I would not trust the ZooMed long term.

What does the red light flashing mean? Power fail bad probe?

I would leave it on proportional. The only reason to go with on/off is if using it as a backup to another proportional stat.

I use the VE-300 which is a great unit but I am wondering why neither of these units are UL listed.

Jinx is it better to have the VE set on pulse or proportional? Mine is on Proportional.

Which unit has the better value for the price? The Herpstat ($169) is more expensive than the VE-200 ($121)--Amazon prices.

Twisty the Clown Pangea has the Ve-300 for 139.99 and the manufacturer of the Herpstat 1 is selling it for 139.99.

@@aceofspades856 I talked to you about 20 different people and nearly all of them said herpstat. I've seen about four or five people in the last month stay their ve crapped out in less than a year

I do not have a VE-300 X2, but I am sure one of the other folks here does and can do up a video on it.

When precisely temps are not required VEs and good choices but on my green tree python incubator a herpistat is better because of dimming is berrer than pulse and .1 variability vs 1 degree on VEs

Cool. I was just wondering if there was a different reason for using the other setting on the VE. Mine is on proportional and I use my old Hydrofarm on/off as backup. I feel much better knowing I won't burn my boys.
    Thanks for the info
