This was unbelievably helpful! I’ve just recently started my legal career and somewhat feel into the mental trap of always saying yes. I’ve had a few warning from colleagues that burn out is a real risk at the rate I’m going. I was slightly fixated on the wrong aspects of this job and putting in unnecessary hours to reach those areas. I came across your page looking for videos to help bring back the spark I originally had for legal work. Your page has really helped with that. At the end of an exhausting week seeing another persons perspective and thoughts laid out like this has really helped!
So interesting this comment about making a “special coffee.” I have been using this trick for years. In a corporate environment, when you need to engage with large presentations or things that may require a lot of preparation, it’s nice to have a reward at the end. I try to just take extra time to make the coffee really good. I’ll froth almond milk into an almond latte with some nicer grounds. No additional calories than just dumping the almond milk in, but it feels like a treat. Your channel is an interesting addition to the genre (?) of self improvement videos. I’ve been a fan for years of Better Ideas, Matt D’Avella, and Amy Landino. All three feel like the sort of champions of this genre of video to me. It’s refreshing to see a new take and always interesting to see people who work in different fields chiming in on these topics. Cheers.
Hey Liam, I just wanted to thank you for all of your videos and tips on studying. I’ve just received tremendous semester grades today and I owe it all to your help!!
Hey Olivier - this is amazing news!! Huge congratulations and so happy to have helped - BUT, you don't owe it to my help, you owe it to your own hard work and actually applying the techniques I share! So, take credit for your own achievements :) Awesome work!!
Great video. I have really enjoyed watching you for many years m, and seeing you develop and grow, as we have very similar lives and the same occupation. Can’t wait to see you have your first child and see if and how that changes your life!
New subscriber and I guess that tagging to similar content works because you popped up as a suggested channel to me…? But what do I know about the algorithm? Side note, I love the yellow mug at 7:46 and I just wanted to ask where I can get one (maybe buy myself one as a ‘treat’ next time I visit the UK 😆🤭) Keep up the great vids! (been binge watching a few the past hour)
Great video! I like the idea of doing something to help others to get out of a rut. It’s so easy to get stuck in our own little world, and forget that we are just one of 8 billion :)
Lovely video man! Healthy habits and routines determine our output, whether it is on self care or productivity🙌🏼 Also planning on making a video on the topic
Hello Liam, This is Aanya a 15 yo student living in India... I wanted a bit of guidance on how to become a corporate lawyer... Is a BBA LLB(hons) in corporate law enough?
nice video, as always. only advice I could give is change the background when introducing a new topic like 5:40 its just a bit dark and doesn't really fit the video theme. other than that, thanks for the video :)
Thanks a lot for the kind comment, and I’ll bear that in mind for future videos! The idea behind the topic screens is that over the course of the video, you move closer to the end of the tunnel as you move out of a rut! Maybe that wasn’t clear, but that was the thinking! 🤗
French, Spanish, maths and further maths 😂 Very very unconventional a-levels for a lawyer, but I didn’t study law at university. I did languages and then law as a post-grad!
I have a question I wanna be a corporate lawyer but after doing research they don’t go to trials and whatnot so what type of lawyer should I be if I want to be like Harvey specter like when he goes to court does trials and whatnot
Seems like you've ripped off thumbnail and title from Better Ideas. I get it - it works. It's just really obvious, and you're talented enough to be more original! Best wishes ☺️
Hey - completely get the comment and appreciate the thoughtful way that you’ve raised this! Definitely (and, as you say, clearly!) used that thumbnail as the basis for this. Just wanted to quickly give my thoughts on this, as I think it’s an important point to respond on 😊 The title is a combination of my latest successful title and the theme for this video, which I set pretty early on in the creative process. This theme was based on me feeling in a bit of a rut at the start of this year. So don’t feel I ripped that off. Unfortunately from my perspective, I put tons of effort into making these videos as good as I can, and click-through rate is a hugely important (and I think slightly overvalued, although I get why UA-cam values it) metric in how many people see the video. Having used a variety of methods to create my thumbnails, with varying proximity to other thumbnails on UA-cam, using other thumbnails as inspiration for mine seems often to deliver strong results. Fully appreciate this may seem unoriginal - however, this kind of split thumbnail shot showing a change over time has performed well for me in the past, and I really liked the clear idea articulated in the Better Ideas thumbnail. Perhaps I could have made it a little more my own, and will keep this in mind moving forward, but largely copying tried and tested styles for the thumbnail does in my experience improve CTR. Hopefully that helps explain my thinking on this - it’s a tricky one, but my view right now is that if it helps my video (which has had around 100 hours spent on it) get watched by more people who will find it helpful, I am comfortable with my thumbnails and titles being fairly close to some of the best performing ones on UA-cam 🤗 That said, will be mindful of being so close to other thumbnails moving forward!
@@liam.porritt hey dude! Cheers for the reply ☺️ "ripped off" was probably heavy from my part; I understand the UA-camrs in your ecosystem use similar designs (you're clearly influenced by Ali Abdaal - as is moi!) but it was just pretty on the nose. In my head I actually thought "I'VE SEEN THIS VIDEO BEFORE." (I think in caps lock...) I'm ignorant of the algorithm gods, too, so obviously you gotta do what will benefit your channel. I was just a bit taken aback. Anyway, I'm going in circles! Love to you and your vids. You have your own voice, so drown out all others with yo style 😎
Completely appreciate this - not heavy really, completely got the point, and maybe even pretty much fair on this one. I was really influenced by Ali in the early days of my channel in the effects I used in my videos, but have really now tried to develop my own style + don't actually use his channel as inspo too much at all these days (after early criticism I was too close to him!). I actually think Ali has used thumbnails like the Better Ideas one as inspo for some of his vids :p Anyway... I've changed the text on this to distance it a touch from Better Ideas, and again will keep your feedback in mind moving forward :) Love back to you, and thank you - always open to criticism!
I like Liam but if I was a betting man, he’s gonna burn out and quit law in 5 years. Or he will need to quit UA-cam and his side hustles. He simply does not have enough time. God be with him once he has a kid.

Really good video
Saying no to something allows you to say yes to something else. Something that’s more suitable, beneficial and more worthwhile.
Will you be making any videos on how to secure a TC? the video with the CC grad recruitment last time was helpful !
Waiting for day in a life video…though I am not in a law profession..loved your video 😊😊
Coming soon!
This was beautiful, especially the last habit. Life is short.
Thank you!!
