To those concerned about the animals, I just visited the meerkat cafe two days ago. Here are my observations: THE GOOD THINGS: - The very first thing guests are shown is the list of rules/regulations, which is quite thorough. - The place had no odor. Potty messes were cleaned up immediately. - There were numerous, knowledgeable attendants constantly circulating and ensuring guests were interacting safely with animals. - Treats were given on a seemingly scheduled basis and consisted of a variety of vegetables, pellets, grains (for the herbivores), and kibble/training treats (for the carnivores). - The foxes, genets, raccoon and coatimundi performed simple tricks for treats. Though it entertained the guests, the tricks were done carefully, and only intermittently, and seemed to be meant for mentally stimulating the animals. - The animals were in prime physical condition... I observed no obesity whatsoever (which seems rare for meerkats and raccoons especially). - The two foxes had a large, private run separate from the common area. They spent extended periods in the run and didn't have to be with guests all day. - The meerkats also had two large pens with all sorts of toys and furniture for climbing and hiding in. One pen seemed to be the private chill-out pen, and the other pen was for interacting with guests. So the meerkats seemed to be rotated between the two pens so that no single meerkat was with guests all day. - The cafe had very strict rules about guest behavior, including rules prohibiting loud noises and certain vocalizations (like clicking the tongue, which alarms meerkats), and also instructed how to properly touch animals. - Although there were different species together, they seemed very accustomed to and comfortable with each other. I saw a genet (long-nosed cat-looking thing) climbing on top of a sleepy cat and the cat did not care. lol. And the wallabies were extraordinarily chill. THE QUESTIONABLE THINGS: - Where were these animals procured? I don't know. I suspect they were bred in captivity though. - I don't know if the meerkats get time (after-hours) to dig in natural substrate like dirt or sand. I think they would benefit from this. - I also don't know if the wallabies get access to textured floor surfaces so that they can hop more freely/naturally. - I think the wallabies probably needed toenail trims. - One wallaby had a baby in her pouch, and the baby emerged for a brief time. I noticed the tip of its tail was missing. This could have been a birth defect/natural accident or a preventable accident... I can't know for sure. But the mother voluntarily interacted with humans and was chill among the other animals... So if there was an accident, she showed NO signs of lingering fear. So I dunno.
Yeah I've visited many animal cafes in the USA. I would much rather visit in counties like S Korea or Japan...most cafes in America don't even have rules posted. That cat was not a bengal, that cat was only a lynx point cat, hence the pointed pattern and color of it's eyes, bengals are bigger and colored drastically different than this cat was.
Sorry to disagree but I happen to own and be extremely familiar with this specific breed. It is definitely not an EG(early generation) but definitely is a SBT Bengal.
I am close friends with a bengal breeder, this cat is not bengal. First of all, Bengals don't carry the Siamese (partial albinism) gene, this gene takes a few generations to show as it is recessive. Second, this cat's body structure and head shape are all wrong for a bengal cat. This cat is not bengal in the slightest, even 6 and 7 generation bengal to dsh still present the bengal features because the features are an incomplete dominance gene, meaning only one parent needs to carry a gene to express the features in order for it to present. I really highly doubt this cat has bangle in it at all.
Often times baby wild animals are taken from their mothers in rather brutal fashion. I'm not sure what the full situation is for the meerkats, raccoons and kangaroo, but I'm very skeptical the animals are being appropriately cared for.

james pisano most of these types of places are rescues so most of these animals have most likely been in abused situations and because they are used to humans they are now animal ambassadors.
Ardnael Willobee Yes, it's true some "wild" animals will always need the care of human families. I adopted a baby marmoset whose mother abandoned her due to a birth defect, and she wouldn't survive in the wild. But I've also cared for wild animals who can return to their natural environments once they're old enough and/or strong enough. With those ones, it's crucial to prevent them from bonding with us humans, or else they'll end up putting themselves in danger when they're back in the wild.
OMG, I LOVE IT!!! I'm such an animal lover.... And that cat was ABSOLUTELY stunning. Those little meerkats were freaking adorable. I really loved this video Mike. Thanks for taking us along! 🐾
Cat cafés and dog cafés are fine ,but meerkat ,kangaroo, fox, raccoons ??!! What is going on??? And they don't even have pit stops in the cafe for the animals to spend their energy on,this was heartbreaking
Jess's Life the raccoons probably play on all the equipment when they close, plus they're nocturnal so they'd be docile anyways during the day. Kangaroos are questionable though.
Meerkats are very sociable, they don't care. Raccoons are just super scavengers, as long as you feed them they're happy. Foxes depends on the species/taming, but kangaroos are an issue. They won't stay too small forever, so they need somewhere to go to.
I've learned it from Dolph C. Volker that meerkats sniff your mouth to remember your smell. That's what he does in his videos and every time he handles them, he opens his mouth for them to smell it. Digging is also in their nature, so that's why they're constantly scratching your pants. >_< And I love how one meerkat climbed on your shoulder and stood up to get a vantage point. They are adorable little animals!
I am unconvinced that this is a healthy environment for these animals. No place to hide when stressed, always out in the open like that. That can't be good. Plus raccoons are mostly nocturnal.
The meerkats & the rest of the animals in that cafe were ADORABLE!!! The rounded pile of fruit on the shaved ice is similar to the Filipino version of halo halo (mix mix)...so cool!

I feel that as cool as it would be to go to a cafe with animals in it, i do question the welfare of said animals in those environments. While I am sure that there are some that have the animals' welfare and happiness as a top priority, there are others that are more concerned with making a buck off of the tourists at the cost of the animals' wellbeing. My advice? Do your research before you plunk down coin for one of these places. Be sure that the animals you came to see are not being treated like crap behind the scenes.
Unless these animals are rescues that can't be released back into the wild, this is, as cute as it is, absolutely not okay. And even if they're rescues, I hope those people actually only let people interact with those that aren't stressed out too easily, or better even, looking to interact with humans and being petted.
It would have been nice for them to at least give the Meerkats a sandbox for them, it stimulates them, it's fun for them, and it actually pretty neat to watch them dig.
Meerkats are NOT supposed to be pets!!! My stepdad has a meerkat rescue and he often gets them from people who rescued them because they were thrown away by their priviouse owners (cound't handle them anymore) or from the owners themselve who thought they were so cute at first... but when they grow up they are mostly not and they even start biting theire owners (espacially when they become teens). People bring these little fellas to my stepdads lodge (Namibia), where they can form new groups and get set free after a while. They even come around for a visit once in a time ^^ But it would be a good thing if that "meerkats are pets" thinking could be shut down! Because they are NOT!!! I can't believe they have a raccoon café, I had a family of raccoons come up to my patio door and wouldn't leave, they looked fricking nasty and scary!
I agree, she didn't seem too gentle. However, the meerkat cafe seemed a lot better for the animals. They all looked well taken care of too. It honestly looks as though they are rescues/captivity bred.
That second place is asking for the wild animals to fight. They should not be in such an unnatural environment and Kangaroos, foxes and genets just hanging out? Terrible idea

The types of cafes should NOT exist. Sure the animals are cute and everything, but for the Raccoons it’s absolute torture, they would rather be in the wild not kept up in a cafe having people all over them.
Oh my god if i could i would take my grandma to korea and go visit the meerkat café with her, they are her absolute favorite animals 😩😍 EDIT: i know this is not the right habitat for all those animals but duuuuude this is so adorable!!!
Its soooo cute but i hate to ignore the fact that they r not in their natural habitats, clearly they want to dig the sand but there r no sand for them to dig :(
Shouldn't those animals have some natural sand and other natural things to play on? As good and well fed they seem to look.. They need that. Not some fancy or good looking furnuture or floors all day long. If you're really animal lover you wouldn't NEVER EVER go to those places. Wild animals don't belong there. Even if those animals would have been unfit to wild cause they're wounded or something - they should be in animal sanctuary where they can make the animals lives as natural it can be.
Nagarath16 As i always say "Dont let them tame you" im an animal lover and instead of bringing a forest inside a cafe, when im older ima live in a tree house in the forest!!!
@@ThePeacePlant Depends on a zoo. There's zoos that do good work and zoos that do bad work. Same with sancturies. This type of cafe houses are just bad.

Minah Raven these cafes are cruel, if an animal misbehaves or uses its instincts, they don't feed it for a day or beat it. They let humans put bright lights in their faces and take pictures. If you truly believe this is cute, shame on you.
Please try not to support cafes keeping wild animals in cafes because they should be in the wild or in a sanctuary if they need to be. I think this because they probably would prefer to be in their natural habitat or at least have a more suitable area to live in. You should go to a good zoo or sanctuary to see them in a more natural habitat. They're probably more happy there.
Melody Cutie Cupcakes It's very possible that they're rescued animals who were injured when young and completely unable to live in the wild. Now, I do think their environments should be more appropriate to their needs, but still, I think that we should hear more information before we're so quick to judge.
Mary Potter I totally agree. Sorry if I sounded a bit judgey. I just edited it to make it sound a little less judgey. Hope you're ok with it now. I do think Brendizzy Lou went a bit too judgey. I'm writing judgey too much.
This is wrong wrong wrong! I would never ever go to a place like this. It is so cruel in so many ways. You need to get your thrills by going into nature and just observing animals in the wild. Get your kicks that way. This is awful. Places like that should be illegal.

Your right! The meerkat cafe was SOOOO much better💜🐾I love meerkats and the other animals were so sweet & friendly💜
All these animals except the raccoon seemed pretty chill and happily relaxed
The types of cafes should NOT exist. Sure the animals are cute and everything, but for the Raccoons it’s absolute torture, they would rather be in the wild not kept up in a cafe having people all over them.
Actually these raccoon are rescue animals they're usually let go in a few years.
Dogs and cats would have also been in the wild if humans didn't domesticate them!
My phone has just exploded..
So has my brain. 🤯
Oh my god if i could i would take my grandma to korea and go visit the meerkat café with her, they are her absolute favorite animals 😩😍
EDIT: i know this is not the right habitat for all those animals but duuuuude this is so adorable!!!
Oh my goodness I started crying when I saw those Meerkats. So adorable!!! ;___;
I have grown up in Korea and I have been to the raccoon cafe and played with the Corey. There is also a cat cafe and a dog cafe called pet ground.
Who is Maggie ? Tell us more about her , the girl with the cat with you
It isn't.
His girl is also chinese
She's gorgeous
Hello! That’s me haha. My insta is seamags. I’m not friends with him just met him by chance at the cafe!
Frozen gamer Good luck when a snake bites your balls off.
Agreed Mumba Jumba.
Shouldn't go to the zoo either. But it will never stop, it's also interesting to see how animals act. It is decent entertainment
@@ThePeacePlant Depends on a zoo. There's zoos that do good work and zoos that do bad work. Same with sancturies.
This type of cafe houses are just bad.

That is the reason why they are called "Waschbär" in german. It translates to "Washing bear" because they like dipping their food in water.
Its because in the wild, they make sure to clean their food before eating it.
I just love watching raccoons run away with something in their hands and that cat was so gorgeous
When that meerkat went up his nose, i literally died!
Who is the lady with blue blouse, in the meerkat cafe? She is cute. :O
VashXTrigun thank you!! My insta is seamags
Lol, the white raccoon looks like one of my ocs :p
I didn't know how cute and sweet meerkats are!
Meerkat so cute. That was a beautiful Cat and really sweet.
I have never smiled so much at one video in my life. My face is literally hurting. Apart from sloths, this video has all my favorite animals in one vid. I've been wanting to see Seoul for so long, and this just makes me want to even more!
Minah Raven these cafes are cruel, if an animal misbehaves or uses its instincts, they don't feed it for a day or beat it. They let humans put bright lights in their faces and take pictures. If you truly believe this is cute, shame on you.
Brendizzy Lou
Please tell me exactly where your evidence is for this, and I mean these places in particular.

It's very possible that they're rescued animals who were injured when young and completely unable to live in the wild.
I'm writing judgey too much.
aww is Maggie your g/friend?
Maggie is super hot.
lol
Catherine Halliday whos maggie? Dont think i saw her in the vid

ADORABLE FOODTASTIC OVERLOAD!!!! THANKS MIKEY!💓💓💓💓💓
The meerkat sniffing mike's nose....😂😂😂😂😂 cuteness overloaded!
Mikey! Thats not a sleepy face, thats a "smile" my dude! That kitty was happy! Thanks for sharing the video, breh! Good stuff.
Aren't meerkats like Timon from Timon & Pumba? :O
8:28 what type of cat is this?
Rinie린이 Siamese??
This is wrong wrong wrong! I would never ever go to a place like this. It is so cruel in so many ways. You need to get your thrills by going into nature and just observing animals in the wild. Get your kicks that way. This is awful. Places like that should be illegal.
That cat was absolutely gorgeous
These creatures are as exotic as it gets!!! The sirucatas aren’t but the fact that they are
DOMESTICATED!!!!??😂
What is that sweet food he keeps eating?
Sarah Cooke its called Bing Su, its one of the most famous desserts in South Korea
Bingsu aka bingsoo aka 빙수, which is a Korean shaved ice and it's SUPER famous and popular there. EVERYONE eats it during the summer.
leave Dennis alone mayweather 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Meerkats live in the ground. They're trying to dog for a reason and have nowhere to go
Exactly.
And capybaras live in the water. Not a puddle in sight.
I'm so jealous welp I'd be at the meerkat cafe every day omg cuteness overload its so true animals make you happy, u looked sssooo happy after the meerkat cafe
Adorable as hell and the video itself is entertaining, I've subscribed!
poor things.. cruelty to animals. Meerkats need dirt to dig as well..
I seen alot of videos and people are so IGNORANT when it comes to animals as pets. A guy posts videos of gar he has In tubs with a crawdad and the crawdad has no dirt to build a den. So said to see them
Who is she? So beautiful... 8:50

It’s not only unsanitary bc your eating on that table and they should not be in a closed environment together it’s unsafe or around people that don’t have experience with animals like that they need to be in the wilderness.
Mike Chen, so adorable. The Racoons are my favorite animals also, the meet cats and wolves. Thanks so much for sharing.
I loved when he mentioned Meerkat Manor 😭💖
this makes me so sad, they shouldn't be there
someone: so... why do you want to go to korea again??
my mind: *this video*

I love raccoons and meerkats ❤️❤️ I would live in those cafes. If I was 30years younger I wouldn't ignore you cutie.
