      Iverson can say anyone is slow as quick as he was, but I just can't see why they say Luka is slow. I'm telling you if you had to guard him you wouldn't think he is slow. Luka will shake TF out anyone. He has a 38 inch vertical leap. So, I know he isn't slow with those types of legs, Kobe had a 38-inch. I am watching Luka break quick great defenders down, I mean really grind them down. I watch footage, he's not slow. His movement is deceptive. People underestimate his quickness and speed.

      True but the Mavs only finished 6th in the West, they took this into account while voting. Also, he plays with an all star in Kyrie Irving while Jokic does not. I'm not trying to say Jokic deserved it more, in fact I think Luka SGA and Jokic all deserved it equally this year.

    The difference is that in Europe we develop first fundamentals and then athleticism and in the USA first you develop athletics and after fundamentals. Then NBA franchises pick rookies for their athleticism hoping to make them understand the game after and European guys know how to play this game since they were kids. That's why the last three MVP's come from here because they're who knows how to play the game better

    • @Sportivations
      @Sportivations  3 місяці тому +1

      I can only agree for cases like Jokic or Luka, but Giannis was a prospect coming into the league. He developed his game in the NBA, but before that he was only seen as a prospect with great physical tools. He basically played in the 3rd tier level of the basketball league system in Greece before getting drafted, and never had the crazy fundamentals like Luka or Jokic

    • @urijimenez9788
      @urijimenez9788 3 місяці тому

      Although I totally agree with your opinion about Giannis, it cannot be denied that the fundamentals of the European player are much more evolved than the American one. There are many examples out there: how about Tony Parker, Dirk, Pau Gasol, Manu Ginobili (he played in Italy for many years) even JM Calderón. All of them have been winning players capable of taking the team to the next level, thinking about the team and not about individuals. Kobe went through Italy during his early sports training... what would have happened to him if he had only had American training? Wouldn't mamba mentality exist?... we will never know. Another proof of this is the final of the 2008 London Olympic Games, Spain was about to win the gold medal against a legendary USA national team 100 times better than the current one.

    Lukas is the most fundamentally sound basketball player I have ever witnessed. Even though his repertoire is basic (keeps things simple), it is incredibly excellent in all aspects of the game. He is even capable of calming the storm that was Kyrie. Glad to see him comfortable that we are able to see glimpses of uncle Drew again. I’m an Ant fan but, I don’t see the wolves having an answer for this dynamic duo. I call Mavs for West Conference Championship.

    • @Sportivations
      @Sportivations  4 місяці тому +1

      That's simple, he has an answer for every matchup being thrown at him. Strong physical defenders like Holiday or Dort, pull up jumper on their face, they're too small. Long tall thin pest like Mcdaniels, hit him with the elbow in the post. Bigs can't keep up with him on the perimeter. What a matchup nightmare. I think the Wolves can still win, but they'll have to figure it out sooner than ever because if Kyrie keeps shooting the rock like in game 1, Dallas is on his way to the finals...

    • @mobrown1198
      @mobrown1198 4 місяці тому

      Nah a lot. Just a few.
      I’d say most fans who never played the game with elite athletes would say this.
      If you ask any “Hooper” baller what is more important athleticism or skill.
      Nearly 100% will say skill.
      You’re right about fans, and a few players talk of athleticism… yeah I see it on social media, lots and lots.
      However, it’s usually the younger generation of fans and the paid media cronies who also haven’t played who are critical of players athleticism.
      I agree totally with fundamentals and team play.
      As a young kid my favorite player was George Gervin, my first favorite player to watch.
      Mainly because of shared body type, I’d never grow to be 6’7 but I was close. - a 6’4.5 skinny two guard.
      But the first player whose game i marveled at was the Hench from French Lick.
      What I learned from watching him, you don’t have the to be the best athlete to be the best player.
      How to be a leader on the court.
      High basketball IQ.
      Ironically, prior to Jordan, there was a knock on extremely athletic players, they couldn’t shoot well.
      There were a few, but most of the great shooters have generally been “mid” (NBA mid) level athleticism.
      Where I grew up playing ball, in Baltimore city, and all through the DMV… there was both.
      Man, I tell the story all the time, about when I matched up against Sam Cassell. At the time, IMHO, having guarded majority of the top guards in the city, I didn’t think he was the best I played against.
      Using Sam for an example, a legitimate 6’3 but rather skinny, not quick or fast, but was a leader and a mid range assassin (something Baltimore players are known for… Sam Cassell, Reggie Lewis. Reggie Williams, David Wingate, Melo, Rudy Gay, even lesser known players like Will Barton, and found way back, to one of my childhood hero’s, Quentin Dailey, by far the best player from my neighborhood in West Baltimore.
      Actually played with a young Jordan on the Bulls.
      anyway.
      Sorry for the stories.
      I love this game, and I am always proud of the Baltimore connection to the game.
      Even down to the success of Tim Connelly, the POBD for the TWolves, who also helped build the Nuggets. He’s Baltimore born and bred, and if anyone who doesn’t know Baltimore (now the greater Baltimore Metropolitan area~ referring to the players who reside in the surrounding counties but are just one generation removed from the city, and they still train and workout in the local area AAU programs, and more than likely their pops was from and played in the city)
      It’s a city where we respect the game and the fundamentals,
      fans can say what they want about Carmelo, but his footwork, and his ability to score on all three levels, and being a mid range assassin, his offensive fundamentals were all time elite.
      This is coming from his peers, some of the best to ever play the game.
      Not the flashiest players, but we get straight to it.
      No wasted dribbles…
      Now the DMV they are a little more flashy with the handles.
      They have some superior athleticism as well.
      Hell, guys like the eccentric Mike Beasley, was one of the most athletically gifted and talented players to come out of the area.
      Again I digress.
      Nah. It’s just a few.
      The OG’s and the old old heads such as myself, love and respect the game.
      and it’s a ton of us.
      We value team play and fundamentals…
      It’s actually the younger fans and the trolls like Gil Arenas… who spew such nonsense!
      To Coach Mike

      - Jokic almost averaged a 27pt triple double with a 31 PER (highest in the league) and they had the same record as OKC. Plus, he has no all star on his team.

      @@Sportivations 2 steals or thereabout is rather common for a guard averaging 40 minutes a game. Nor do I much like to put too much stock into who gets a one seed. All too often, the most valuable player will not be on the team with the best record. But if there is something there to show that a player has taken a quite mediocre team to a top seed, then that is different. But given OKC's depth, I don't feel that's likely the case.
      That said, I'm not saying SGA didn't have a good impactful season. But I'm not going to pretend he was performing on Jokic or Luka's level.

      Imma be real. When Westbrook first began to average a triple double, everyone was saying he should be mvp. But in the moment, it was wild to see

      @cheetah219 said it all, nowadays it feels like any tall playmaker that can rebound and score a bit can average (nearly) a triple double: Sabonis, Jokic, Luka, Lebron, etc

    its funny because i pretty much stopped watching basketball in the early 2010s. then when i came back to start watching NBA clips 6 7 years ago, I saw Luka, and I was like this dude is really really good. then I saw Jokic, and I was like, this guy has amazing fundamental and seems to be able to dominate without trying. Then I also saw Booker, who back then many called him and hyped him up as the next Kobe, but somehow I wasn't impressed with him at all, I didn't like him. Years later, somehow I was right about all of them.

      Kudos to you, what a vision! Do you really think Booker is a bust? I don't think he's the next Kobe, but I view him as a perfect 2nd option on a championship team. I just think that Suns team wasn't well-constructed, too many offensive players that need the ball and not so many defensive minded players. Or the defensive minded players can't shoot like Okogie or Thaddeus Young.... Plus, they have no point guard. I knew the Suns wouldn't go far this year.
