Thank you very much for these tutorials, I am looking forward to making a cockpit and I really appreciate the way you take us through the process so clearly and at a pace that makes things easy to understand. This is a delightful series and very encouraging too!
Hi petergregorypottery5476, Your welcome and thanks for watching! This is an older video so some things may not work the same. Be sure to get an older version of Blender if you have a problem, I used 2.80 I think, I may have mentioned this in the video I don't remember. Let me know how it goes. Blessings, skip
Hi robloxiacardriving2868, Sorry you are having trouble! If you can be more specific on what you don't understand I might be able to help. I watched the video and everything you need to know and do is there but I realize it is overwhelming there is so much to do in the correct order as well. What version of X Plane and Blender are you using? Also, the airplane you are working on must use the 2D panel. This video was done with XP11 and Blender 2.8 and the Blender version is very important, at the time of this video any Blender version about 2.8 would not work, need 2.8 or lower. Blessings, skip
Hello Skip, greatly appreciate your detailed video! Excellent job on showings how to install Blender, and Gimp. I as well got the same error as other's have reported when importing the aircraft OBJ file. I can send you a screenshot of the error. I tried reinstalling ver 2.80 and 2.93 as well. Thoughts? Could it be that I need an even earlier version of blender? I am wishing to modify an A36 Bonanza panel to add a G500 and Realty-XP GTN750.
Hi donavanlane230, I'm afraid it's been a long time since I've done this and don't know how I can help. My first suggestion is to watch the videos again and follow the steps very carefully, it's very easy to miss one little step. I had problems at first and kept retrying and finally it worked. I don't remember what I did but it was something I missed. I do know that this works so retrace your steps or even start over with the setup of Blender. Are you importing the correct file? Sorry that's all I can think of without getting back into Blender. Let me know if starting over helped, that's what I did a few times!! Blessings, skip
Hello@@WEHVideos! Thank you for your quick reply. Problem solved. The error was caused by me importing a plane (not the Dash 8) and it already had a 3-D Cockpit. So it gave the python error. Thanks again for your quick reply Skip!
One tip Sir if you allow me, you don't have to emulate the numpad if you don't have numpad, Blender made it easy, just press the tilda (`) key left of the number 1 in the number row, and it'll open the pie menu for view selection, that way you'll keep the number row for numbers input :-)
Thanks for that tip Adel really appreciate any help I can get, I can hardly even call myself a beginner in blender I know so little. Any other tips you might have would be appreciated :-) Thanks for watching. blessings, skip

helo, when i leave the airplane obj to blender when exporting I get an error but when i remove it and export it doesnt export anything and the log says ERROR: Could not find any Exportable Collections or Objects, did you forget check 'Exportable Collection' or 'Exportable Object'?
hI V1II349, Sorry you are having trouble. It's hard to tell what your problem might be from the information you have given I don't recognize these errors. I suggest you watch the first part of the video again where you setup Blender. Go through all the steps again to make sure you didn't miss a step especially where I go over the right side of Blender where you setup the cube and the export information needed for X Plane I"m hoping you might find something you missed, there's so much that needs to be correct and missing one thing produces errors. I'm very confident the video explains all you need to know to make this work so you might have missed one little step. Also, what version of Blender are you using this doesn't seem to work on versions above the version I use in this video so if you have a newer version go here and find v2.9 or lower: download.blender.org/release/ Hope this helps please let me know :-) Blessings, skip
@@WEHVideos Thanks for the reply, I was using version 3.6 or something in the beginning but found your comment to use 2.9 or lower but yet it didn't work with 2.80 either. The only step I couldn't do is the "Part of cockpit panel" as I don't have that option in blender so I'm wondering if that might be the cause.
I'm still not sure exactly where you are getting the error message. So if I got this right you don't have the option under the Material tab to make it part of the cockpit. I suggest going over every step for creating the cube's material section, placing the png file on the cube etc. see if that helps. Sounds like the cube is not set up right. Give that a try and let me know. Good luck don't give up :-) Blessings, skip
@@WEHVideos Hello, after some tries I managed to make it work. The problem I had was with the root collections which you showcased in 12:35, instead of selecting the "collection" I had selected the one with the name of the aircraft. Thanks for the help and these nice tutorial videos! Btw I'm wondering if you know a way to get a wall behind you instead of the same panel as in front? I have been trying some methods but haven't found any of them working.
That's great v1ll349 I admire your perseverance!! Sorry to say I don't know how to get rid of the panel in the back that's just the way Blender renders the cube. I have successfully installed x-plane import/export on Blender. When I try to import an object, I get a warning but it does not stay long enough for me to read it! all I saw was "python".
